I have yet to understand my own feelings about Red and whether I consider him hot and cool or hateable. Might be complicated and just be both, which is a good sign. Feel similar (albeit to a lesser degree) about Blue. Yellow might be interesting as well, but I don't know anything about him other than seeing his permanent grin.
I hope that this series will gain some fans in the future, I am in need of fanfics and doujinshi.

Huh, that does sound weird. In my (to be fair, very limited) experience, Asian omegaverse follows similar rules as Western omegaverse in terms of worldbuilding. Which dictates that although omegas are discriminated against, alpha/omega relationships are still the ideal. If any relationship style is looked down on socially, it's usually alpha x alpha or omega x omega.

>Might be complicated and just be both, which is a good sign.
I'd say so. I just started the manga (chap 14 currently) so he hasn't shown up too much more outside of what I've seen in the anime, but I think I can pretty safely look forward to it because man, I've really been liking the manga as a whole. I am in the academy arc now though, which I've seen anons complain about, but guess I'll just see for myself? You were totally right about the Hibiki/D interactions and backstory getting skipped. Very unfortunate (and outright nonsensical as a decision in the case of their backstories) but oh well.
>Yellow/Blue
That's p similar to my own thoughts, actually! Yellow might eke over Blue a little bit in simple having more of my curiosity, but yeah. It's still early so it's hard to really say too much about the DKs, Green is definitely lowest for me though atm.
>Fics/Doujins
I hope so too. Ridiculous amount of cute dudes aside, it's just cool so far.

When it comes to reading BL do you prefer Japanese Manga or Korean Manhwa? I noticed that after Killing Stalkings huge success that Manhwa has become incredibly popular in the BL scene. I personally prefer Manhwa. I just like colors if I’m being honest.

The current ones I'm into are TWSB, LCF, BIDS, SRH, SRIH, HI, and GED (two of these don't have comics yet, one has a comic that is so shit it actively made me pay money for overpriced novel chapters full of typos). It's like danmei all over again with these abbreviations. Biggest difference is your mileage will vary hard on how much isekai/transmigration, dungeon break, and regression you can stomach. I love this shit for narrative convenience and creating both action and social situations. I think the long format suits these best because they're sagas that go on for fucking ever. The adaptations don't have to worry about making up something new to end each chapter with, they have a plan that goes on for months worth of content. Most of all what I like are the types of MCs who draw people in with concern and admiration. MCs who take casts on wild rides because they think in unexpected ways, and sometimes pull off captivating acts/speeches. If someone worries that they're mad but brilliant then I am here with my popcorn.

I love my tidily concluded short BL manga, and how pretty and varied the art styles can be with some wonderfully researched clothing and architecture, but webtoon provide a different entertainment that I also crave. It's easy for me to consume both at their own rates. The Korean content however has fanart by the bucket load compared and I can actually talk to people about it without embarrassment. You read a five chapter long BL, enjoy it, and nobody has any clue it exists and if they do they'll tell you it's "generic shit" for some reason or another and shut down conversation. The genuinely dumb adventures of "guy stuck in a book" generate more chatter and jokes. As a result it ends up looking like I don't read BL manga at all and spend all my time on Korean no homo.

>I think it works far better for adaptations and planned stories
This is fairly common for BL webtoons, though, no? Passion, Payback, Zero Day Attack, Define the Relationship, Odd Love, Touch-up, Codename: Anastasia, XXX Buddy, and Hard-boiled Love are all based on novels, and that's just off the top off my head. In general, I think webtoons based on novels tend to have a better "hook" and have more substance (so they don't feel aimless halfway through), but they tend to suffer from similar problems as any other webtoon, especially if the artist is just okay or doesn't adapt the novel very well. There are BL webtoons written and drawn by just one person that have better narrative substance and pacing than ones based on novels, so it's very YMMV. You did help me realize that part of why I'm drawn to BL webtoons (and webnovels) is probably because I like long stories, and BL manga tends to be rather short. I'm usually left wanting more…

>That means the majority are also not my genre, I get far more fantasy, supernatural, and wistful romances from manga.

Also, about this…I feel like there are a lot of supernatural/fantasy entries within BL webtoons, which isn't surprising since Koreans are huge fans of media that deals with muism (Korean shamanism), both in K-dramas and in webtoons. The Ghost's Nocturne (picrel) is probably my favorite example, but there's also Night of the Unmarked, One Summer Day, Uncanny Charm, Dreaming of the Dokkaebi, A Twisted Fate, The Boy Who Stole From the Fairy Lake, and quite a few others. If that's not the kind of fantasy/supernatural you mean (I really like stories about muism, so I seek them out), there are probably still entries that would suit your tastes. Unless you mean LOTR type of fantasy, that seems to be peculiarly unpopular. Also, there's plenty of sad wistful pining in BL webtoons, but I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

I'm not trying to argue with you or anything, I just wanted you to know that it sounds like there might be BL webtoons that actually are a good fit for you. I think the sheer magnitude of BL webtoons makes people reluctant to go hunting, especially when there are so many weak entires, but as someone who stress reads BL webtoons by the dozens, I feel a sense of duty to clarify things about them that people doPost too long. Clamp is what made me a fujo so they very much are fujo-related!

If you want actual BL Tokyo Babylon and Legal Drug are shonen-ai and blatently so. Of the two I like Tokyo Babylon more and its made me fall in love with them.

In terms of more general works xxxholic has the same BL "boys with emotions" feel though the series isn't explicitly gay. Cardcaptor and its sequel series Tsubasa both have canonically gay side characters though the lead pairing in both those series is hetero.

Really the only two I wouldn't rec reading first is X because its unfinished and works better if you've read Tokyo Babylon and Miyuki-chan because its tonally different from the rest of their works. I don't hate anything Clamp has done and I think all their works have strengths.

Thank you, nona!! I was kind of missing the feeling of shipping two characters who weren't explicitly together in canon, and was looking for a series that allowed me to do so, since I mostly read actual BL these days (hopefully that makes sense). However, I just looked up Tokyo Babylon, and it looks like exactly my kind of thing, so I'm totally going for that first kek. I'll probably get around to xxxholic eventually, but I'm very excited to start Tokyo Babylon!

CLAMP generally has top tier men even when they aren't tied to fujo fanservice.
For fujo I absolutely recommend Tokyo Babylon, RG Veda, X (but that is unfinished), Legal Drug and maybe xxxholic if you like the designs. Not the MCs, but Kurogane/Fye from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle were one of the most popular gay ships in the late 00s afaik and they are generally top characters IMO so you might give this a try as well.

I know, right? They’re literally meant for each other. I love that Riku acts like such a spoiled younger brother but Tenn can’t stop worrying about him so he kinda feeds into their codependency because he feels guilty about the time they spent separated as kids. Their brocon dynamic is just everything to me. I can’t stop listening to Incomplete Ruler because their voices singing in harmony together is so beautiful, like they’re yearning for each other
>>3127
I didn’t play I-chu for very long but damn, these boys are really cute. I should’ve given this game a chance

 No.3224

God incest is one of the best tropes. I heavily prefer brother/brother ships, you can never go wrong with brocon, it can be twisted into so many delicious variants. Personally one of my favorite tropes is when their parents are neglectful and they're forced to rely on each other and their brotherly love accidentally becomes something more. Or classic abuse, where the older brother constantly takes advantage of the younger brother but the younger brother is too trusting of the older brother/looks up to him too much to accept that he's being hurt. Fatherson isn't bad at all and neither is uncle/nephew but I prefer brocon all the same. Speaking of uncle/nephew, I'm thinking of writing a short fic of an uncle raping his nephew because he was in love with the nephew's father (his brother), and the nephew looks exactly like he did when he was younger.

I've been thinking lately I could give the anime a chance. Apparently at some point after I stopped playing the original game was rebooted and the anime is based on that reboot.

hey now, i actually rather liked smells like green spirit but i'm the total opposite of you in that i really like the trope of bl having actual homosexuality because males having any attraction to women is gross to me and the permanent state of homosexuality is sexy especially when theres angst about it.
ngl i do agree that there was way too much empathises on how girlypop the two male leads were as it was a bit too troony for my liking, i'd disagree that all the female characters were portrayed negatively as the mc's mum was shown to be one of the only non-homphobic characters
>while said rapist gets not only a tragic backstory abut also a sequel
omg stop, pedo-kun is actually my husbando, I love the absolute melodrama and insanity he brings to the manga
my only real issue with the manga is once again the subtextual troonery and also the blond being a straightfag who's "only gay for you" which was kinda retarded if the manga wanted to go the realistic route, also i wanted the two main homos to get together but alas desu

I started Tourou No Ori/Mantis Cage today. This might be one of the best BL, if not manga i've ever read. Every single page packs so much emotion and intensity, Psyche Delico is a genius. I love finding female mangaka with the same brainworms as me, every ero scene is perfect and plays out exactly like how i'd want it to go. It's so wicked, so savory.
Last time i had such fun with original BL was when i started reading Asumiko's BL works. I think i'll buy the whole manga in paperback aswell
>>2772
>what did you guys think of J no Subete?
Adored it. It felt almost too good to be true, to see someone as talented as her release something that's so 'old school yaoi' in spirit. I usually lust over the uke but Paul is stunning. I was impressed with how she nailed the equilibrium between 'exploitative' (=fun) angst and heartfelt depictions of trauma. The prequel was such a blast, too

I assumed you were baiting the first 5 times I read your reply but to be fair I've never seen anyone aside from me hating it. I understand liking homosexuality in BL due to the taboo aspect of it but
>males having any attraction to women is gross to me
So men being attracted to women is gross but them hating women isn't? I've read BL where male characters had graphic sex with women and I didn't like that either but they also shouldn't be constantly speaking negatively of them. And that's my issue rather than my own homophobia. The excerpt you posted literally has the faggot who's about to rape the soon-to-be-tranny mentioning his evil mother. And that scene where one character thinks about how gross women's bodies are and then throws up for comedic effect. Like what the fuck was that. Also the mc's mother is either the mangakas self-insert or her editor was responsible. I just can't comprehend how anyone could look past the tranny shit or the misogyny.

There's a multi-part juggernaut of a Black butler Sebaciel fic series I finished recently on AO3 called the flowers of evil by Amanitus and on one hand I don't entirely like Sebastian's characterisation here but at the same time in every other aspect I find the whole thing extremely well done. Feels like the author does a great job with, among other things, building tension and fleshing out the details of the characters' daily lives like the scene on how many pounds the household spends on replacing broken plates and steak knives. The author self-memes about how many literary references there are in the series but I find that it works well in context. Honestly this is the type of thing that some fandoms would give an arm and a leg for and even if I don't agree with the characterisation I think the fandom is blessed to have it. If we're talking about some sebaciel I read recently that does have characterisation I like, martialartist816's works have really appealed to me. Thy fearful symmetry was the first one I read and it pretty much nailed how I envision the Sebaciel dynamic myself.

Oh anon, you have no idea what it was like to read Flowers of Evil while it was ongoing! Black Butler fans were starving back then so each update felt like a new chapter of the bible was being published! It's been a while since I read it, so I don't quite remember Sebastian's characterization, but I do remember how slowly and realistically the author had the both of them fall for eachother. That canon push and pull between Sebaciel was definitely there. I've yet to find a recently published fanfic as well-written as FoE, I'll say this much.
I'd like to rec some stuff as well if you don't mind.
>objectlesson's "Stain the Water Clear"
http://archiveofourown.org/works/3667677
A multi-chapter longfic about how sebaciel's relationship has gradually transformed from the beginning of the contract to present day. The writing is very visceral and has gross details but that's what I personally like about it.
>honeythief's "Shapeshifter"
http://archiveofourown.org/works/23597002
This one is also a multi-chapter beast that I recommend if you liked FoE. Though it's written in first person (Sebastian's POV) and takes place in a modern universe, and I know both of these things are huge turn offs for most people, but do not be fooled! The characterization is incredibly on point and the story is very captivating, and I'll be real, I cried at the ending. Also I've seen fans on twitter arguing whether this or FoE should be considered the fandom must-read fic kek.
>teasmudge's "Nelipot"
http://archiveofourown.org/works/25657426
Not smut from what I remember. Just a sexually charged philosophical debate between Sebastian and Ciel. I remember really liking the banter in this one.
>"I adore him so"
http://archiveofourown.org/works/10117352
This one is in first person again but it's very short and sweet. One of my personal favourites. I wish I knew who the author was though.

I thought Amanitus' Sebastian was a bit too rapey compared to how I see him, though at the same time I get that it was meant to emphasise his demonic nature. Admittedly it didn't bother me THAT much considering I actually finished the whole thing. Thanks for the recs, I'll check them out next time I'm in a reading mood. I usually skip human Sebastian fics because Sebastian being a demon is a fundamental reason as to why I like the ship but I'll give it a try for you anyway.
