Any Metalocalypse friends still around? What do y'all think about the music in the show?
For me Dethklok was my first introduction to melodeth (I've always been more into numetal and doom metal) and it was love at first sight! I'm actually going to a Dethklok concert tomorrow and I'm so goddamn excited! I missed the tour they did with BABYMETAL a couple years ago so I'm so glad they're touring again.
I'm rewatching the show to get into the spirit and I forgot how much I shipped SkwisTok. They're so cute together!

I think the music is pretty good! I've listened to the albums in my spare time over the years. It's pretty hard to pick favourites but the Murmaider tracks are definitely up there for me. And wow lucky, please share how it goes, sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.

I saw them last night and it was awesome. Castle Rat and Amon Amarth were both super fun and there were some great songs on the setlist. Plus there was a girl in the crowd handing out banana stickers to people.

Glad to see someone else appreciate this! Avialae was my first western BL webcomic and it's still so good everytime. Great art! It really helped solidify to me that I like media where the protagonists feel isolated. The couple is cute too [spoiler] and they're vers [/spoiler].

This webtoon was one of my faves as well! I felt so sad when the author decided to stop it, it's very funny to me bc her motivation was literally "the anatomy and plots of yaois suck so I need to do it better". Last I checked she was writing an original story that was inspired by the death of her friend and the MC is a heartthrob (for women) who looks so much like Jotaro KEK. I wish she would at least reveal the plot but I think she kinda doesn't want to acknowledge this comic at all anymore lol.

Hooky is not a BL but the author was into gay shipping (you can find some of her old tweets about Free!! in Spanish on her twitter) and I adore her gay side couple! I also liked the plot of the story but I am biased as I grew up with this lol.

I also really liked 2 Slices! Slow, slow, slow burn and weirdly woke at times but you can just ignore it tbh.

This is not fiction is on-going but I quite like it! The art styles nice and yes it's also a slow burn but I quite like it and the humor.

If anyone has any recommendations that were not mentioned in this thread already (I've read a lot of them lol) I'd love to hear it! I used to have a whole list of BL webtoons I used to read before the discord server I used as a notes app got deleted. Sad!

I watched if… (1968) today for historical context around the very early Japanese BL scene and as example of homosexuality in an old influential movie. I didn't watch it with fujo glasses though. It was long and weird. Malcolm McDonald's annoying character is very similar to his future iconic role as Alexander DeLarge. The movie still kept me entertained. Maybe I will watch it again with the commentary track one day but kind of meh to me. My favorite characters were the Whips / the prefects who caned the main group.

Recently saw Scream for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised by how funny it was. I also was thankful I didn't have the twist of there being 2 murderers ruined. Time to read every Billy/Stu fanfic

the audio is total dogshit though and as far as i know there is no option for subtitles so you'll have to replay a lot of scenes to understand wtf they're saying to each other, it's on amazon prime

I watched My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) and it was pretty good. It was definitely more like a slice-of-life film and admittedly I looked at spoilers just to make sure it wasn't a sad ending. I sorta regret that and I need to stop looking at spoilers, but I also didn't want to watch a tragic gay movie and the vibes of the first half of the film scared me into thinking it might end badly kek. Omar and Johnny are pretty hot together and their chemistry is palpable from the get-go. Omar's a cutie-pie despite acting reckless/sorta scummy the entire film and I like that Johnny (who is, yes, an early Daniel Day-Lewis) is clearly head-over-heels for him in spite of the shit Omar gets them into. I recommend the movie if you're into more chill, slice-of-life films with somewhat subtle commentary on being gay during the '80s and in the Thatcher era. also, I really like what they do with Tania, Omar's cousin and potential fiancée…

Hermann/Newt from Pacific Rim is one of the only western ships that consistently holds my interest of time. I don't know why it resonated so strongly with me, most of the time I bounce off of live action stuff.

So I finished the trilogy. I generally like it but there's a moment where I got annoyed at how retarded one of the protags was being even though I acknowledge it's a character trait that has been established before. Pacat comes off as a more oldschool western fujo who takes direct inspiration from ~problematic BL~ as opposed to your average western modern day 'queer lit' writer.

It's because of Kurahana's cover art for the Japanese translation of the books, isn't it? Because in that case it's the same for me except I read the first volume just one or two weeks because the first trailer of FE3H dropped. Too big to be a coincidence.
