Omg nona I can't believed you've missed this cultural phenomena, the ship wars back in the days were insane. The show is pretty fun for the first five seasons, tell us what you think! The two main ships are sam/dean aka wincest, which are the reason ao3 was created, and dean/cas aka destiel (cas doesn't appear until s4, but his relationship with dean is pretty homoerotic from the get-go, they are the most popular ship in the fandom)

Wincest and Destiel are both really great ships so don't feel you need to pick a side (but Destiel FANS are annoying antis, sadly). There's some fun rarer ships too. You'll be able to find great fic for any ship you think of while watching, no matter how depraved, like John/Dean (their dad lol).
Seasons 1-5 are fantastic and must watch, seasons 6-11 are okay (s7 is rough but it gets better imo), season 12-15 are rough. Whenever I rewatch, I stop at the season 11 finale because it works as a good series finale lol.
Really hope you enjoy it. Dean is way too beautiful, like a succubus. It's no wonder the destiel/wincest Ship War waged over him like Helen of Troy.

Starscream being a POS who gets his shit punched in is both funny and entertaining. No one is trying to write some deep allegory outside of Armada where it had genuine relevance. I would probably have latched on to him as a favorite if his fans actually engaged with the show.

Husk. Basically, there was an exclusive trading card released and the preview miscolored his hat as the trans flag colors instead of the pansexual one. It was fixed shortly after. Aidens were so upset over it and it was very funny.

I watched My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) and it was pretty good. It was definitely more like a slice-of-life film and admittedly I looked at spoilers just to make sure it wasn't a sad ending. I sorta regret that and I need to stop looking at spoilers, but I also didn't want to watch a tragic gay movie and the vibes of the first half of the film scared me into thinking it might end badly kek. Omar and Johnny are pretty hot together and their chemistry is palpable from the get-go. Omar's a cutie-pie despite acting reckless/sorta scummy the entire film and I like that Johnny (who is, yes, an early Daniel Day-Lewis) is clearly head-over-heels for him in spite of the shit Omar gets them into. I recommend the movie if you're into more chill, slice-of-life films with somewhat subtle commentary on being gay during the '80s and in the Thatcher era. also, I really like what they do with Tania, Omar's cousin and potential fiancée…

I think the music is pretty good! I've listened to the albums in my spare time over the years. It's pretty hard to pick favourites but the Murmaider tracks are definitely up there for me. And wow lucky, please share how it goes, sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.

The Murmaider tracks are timeless! They played it at the show the other night of course, but there were some pretty unexpected songs on the setlist too, like Andromeda and Pull the Plug. It was a lot of fun! The concert was formatted in a way to maximize the audience's immersion, with the musicians not being in the spotlight and all the focus being on the screen behind them. It felt like I'd actually gone to a Dethklok concert, not a Brendon Small concert kek!
Also I think SkwisTok's dynamic is delicious. I love the push and pull they have. I like to imagine them doing fanservice while performing, kind of like how the Rammstein guitarists kiss each other on the mouth during shows, except SkwisTok fuck nasty right on stage.

This webtoon was one of my faves as well! I felt so sad when the author decided to stop it, it's very funny to me bc her motivation was literally "the anatomy and plots of yaois suck so I need to do it better". Last I checked she was writing an original story that was inspired by the death of her friend and the MC is a heartthrob (for women) who looks so much like Jotaro KEK. I wish she would at least reveal the plot but I think she kinda doesn't want to acknowledge this comic at all anymore lol.

Hooky is not a BL but the author was into gay shipping (you can find some of her old tweets about Free!! in Spanish on her twitter) and I adore her gay side couple! I also liked the plot of the story but I am biased as I grew up with this lol.

I also really liked 2 Slices! Slow, slow, slow burn and weirdly woke at times but you can just ignore it tbh.

This is not fiction is on-going but I quite like it! The art styles nice and yes it's also a slow burn but I quite like it and the humor.

If anyone has any recommendations that were not mentioned in this thread already (I've read a lot of them lol) I'd love to hear it! I used to have a whole list of BL webtoons I used to read before the discord server I used as a notes app got deleted. Sad!

I watched if… (1968) today for historical context around the very early Japanese BL scene and as example of homosexuality in an old influential movie. I didn't watch it with fujo glasses though. It was long and weird. Malcolm McDonald's annoying character is very similar to his future iconic role as Alexander DeLarge. The movie still kept me entertained. Maybe I will watch it again with the commentary track one day but kind of meh to me. My favorite characters were the Whips / the prefects who caned the main group.
