funny because I rewatched Free! recently, and it's a lot gayer than I remember which is really saying something. Nagisa is my favorite.

I watched the entire first season in a single sitting, been a while since I've done that, haha. I was always put off from watching it because of how overly muscular the characters were, but in motion it really works and I loved how the water was animated. Will pace myself for the rest so I don't burn out.

Makoto is my favorite at the moment I love his tareme expressions and the mini ocean arc with him saving Rei sold me on him. I like all the boys though and the fact that they all spend a roughtly even ammount of time with each other makes the group dynamics really work. I hope it stays balanced next season with Rin.

I've been dying to rewatch Free with some nonnas… I've only seen the first two seasons but it was so fun being in a huge fujo fandom when it first came out. Even though he's underused and boyfriendless I still think Seijuurou's the hottest guy. Hard to go wrong though because the boys in this show are exactly my type.

>>11015
Makorei is so based. Rinrei too.

I want to watch Natsume Yuujinchou soon too but I've been putting it off because I want to do so authentically with avi fansubs and a matching winamp skin.

I watched it in one sitting too, no way :0 I'm excited to get through everything, including the OVAs and movies, and drama CDs

All the boys need dick. I'm conflicted. I fucking love fujobait series like this, why don't they come out with more of them for fujobucks?

Gosh, Nagisa might as well have confessed his feelings to Rei in the episode where he ran away from home. All these boys say "I want to swim with you" like it's a love confession.

I'm watching Grand Blue Dreaming season 2. I think the show is hilarious and there's always been gay jokes with the MC and his retarded friend. Recently a bishie character was introduced who is openly gay for the MC kek.

Finished S2 of Free, honestly I feel like the season ended in a satisfying way with the trip to Austrailia and I'm surprised there's another season. There better be fanfics about Rin and Haru sharing a bed in Austrailia though I was shocked to see more people ship Haru with Makoto apparently? Makoto is still my favorite but both seasons so far have really played with the idea of Haru and Rin as having this deep rivalry and respect thing going on, would have expected them to be the fandom pair of choice.

 No.11208

I know, right? Makoto and Haru had zero chemistry together. I think a lot of people are just allergic to conflict when it comes to romance stories and prefer friends-to-lovers to enemies-to-lovers, regardless of the characters' chemistry (a shame, really)

I got frustrated with Haru for being an emo dick and with Makoto for being really passive. I lean towards Rin/Haru but I also hate seeing the childhood friend lose while sadly smiling because they just want to make the MC happy blah blah blah. There's a lot of Makoto/Haru in the High Speed movie. I get frustrated with the Haru, Makoto, Rin trio and feel vindicated as a Nagisa (and Ai) fan. This is all just personal taste, but I wish there were more slice of life fun fluffy KyoAni moments rather than emo "Why do I swim?" drama. I'm probably retarded though.

 No.11210

Omg another ai fan. I never cared for the fandom love triangle makoto/haru/rin because I never liked Haru. I always found him really boring.

 No.11211

AYRT same. I find the drama around the whole swimming / Rin / future / Makoto / university / whatever super boring. It's really predictable. I want to swim the whole world blah blah I want to swim with everyone blah blah Makoto's character arcs are boring too. Do I even like swimming, or am I gay for Haru? I like swimming, and I'm gay for Haru! The fluffy comedy slice of life segments are what I ended up enjoying.

But I dislike Haru even more because of how ungrateful he is to his friends. He's so rude, and normally I like stoic or kuudere-type characters. The swim club revolved around his own emo drama that he could have gotten over himself. It's not that deep, but declaring he only swims free always came across as selfish to me too. He's just really rude and boring.

I hate pedomoid mangaka SO MUCH, it's unbelievable. I loved THE UNLIMITED Hyoubu Kyosuke and its MC and so wanted to check out the parent story - Zettai Karen Children, but it's so full of pedotrash that I feel disgusted at myself for watching it at times. It's not even one episode or two, but EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. having some sort of gross child sexualisation or grooming to various extents. How this crap got published in a shounen mag is beyond me - even if the mangaka is a skeevy pedo, the editor should have axed A LOT just to make it readable for the shounen audience. What kind of shounentard even wants to see 10 year old girls as protags? Even worse, what kind of shounentard wants to see adults being given so much prominence and authority over kid characters? Who in their right mind thought that unedited lolicon trash would work well in a shounen mag? It's frustrating that a story with a good premise and potential for endless milking (so many ESP abilities!) got bogged down by some MAP creator's broken dick - hope it's broken for good. How this show managed to spawn such an entertaining AND clean spin-off is a mystery beyond comprehension.

So then let me list the depravity encountered. The pedomoid author made the MC (a 10yo girl) into some sexually-frustrated psycho child lesbian who molests adult women, reads ero mags, jokes about big boobs and panties etc. as if she had been a victim of SA - this is just disgusting. Nobody ever stops her, takes away her 'reading material' or tries to educate her. Oh, and her characterisation isn't even consistent, because later on she starts fantasising about her adult male supervisor (who is also the 'intended audience's' = pedos' self-insert) - that's what I call having your cake and eating it too when it comes to pedomoid degeneracy! Her handler isn't even into kids and must be one of the few male employees at BABEL who isn't a creep, but he is as boring as watching the paint dry and an in-your-face self-insert. Oh, and apparently the MC ends up with him at the end, according to manga spoilers (if these are true) - bet the mangaka couldn't help himself in the end and would ruin even okayish characters and the whole manga retrospectively only to have his grooming fantasies satisfied. Usagi Drop 2.0.

The MC might be a pedogroomer's ultimate fantasy, but at least she has a distinct character. The same can't be said of the other two girls who share the same personality of a 'nice girl' and have no distinguishing traits, only tropes (one speaks in Kansai-ben and wears glasses, the other has curly hair). Almost every named male employee (save for the girls' handler) at their organisation is a pervert or a weirdo creep. Their boss might not be a pedo, but he is too overprotective of them, and it stops being innocent and funny when you realise how much pedo stuff there is. The doctor is a womaniser. One guy is a maid doll otaku. The most disgusting of them all grooms his joshi kousei charge to be his perfect wife (which she hates, but nobody intervenes, let alone sacks him) AND it's a recurring joke - puke. I really feel sorry for the kid characters in this - nobody protects them from exploitation by the male pigs who belong 10 feet under the ground. And as I wrote before, who even cares for normalfag (no ESP abilities) old men in a shounen manga about kids with superpowers? Other than fellow MAPs who self-insert into them, that is.

AND THEN we get an episode where the handler of the trio gets hypnotised and starts seeing the girls as adult women - this shite belongs straight in hentai. But you know what's worse? The girls (10yo) catch up and start making advances at him. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
It seems to me that the entire editorial department of Shounen Sunday needs to be investigated for CP possession.

I'm 20 episodes in and this pedo/grooming crap still doesn't get phased out. MIRACULOUSLY some new characters devoid of degen fuckery get introduced and stop me from dropping the show entirely. Imagine rooting for BABEL lol - a bunch of creeps, their enablers and victims. Burn that tower to the ground and shoot dead every adult men who tries to escape. So wild that a manga for lolicons got published in a shounen magazine instead of being confined to its containment zone of lolisho publications. This series had the potential to become a shounentard staple, but got killed off by unchecked pedos in power who cared more for their dicks than having a worldwide success.

I finished Sarazanmei and I don’t wanna spoil too much, but damn. I have a gripe about it and it’s why did they act like there was only one wish ever to get made? Like they had a golden dish of hope before, surely they could’ve gotten more than the two total. Otherwise, it was pretty fun. I did cry when Reo and Mabu kicked the bucket. Especially when Mabu forgot Reo. Felt like my soul left my body. I also cried when Enta got shot. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster for those last few episodes. I don’t wanna get too into shipping wars, but I’m pretty sure I shipped all the ships at some point in the show. For the most part, I was rooting for brotherfucker Tooi and Chikai, until that whole Chikai thing happened. I was also hoping for Enta to rebound into Tooi. I actually wasn’t completely prepared for Enta to be confirmed gay. I thought he was gonna get the Makoto from Free “weirdly into childhood friend but totally not gay” treatment.

It's a very sweet romance between a bullying victim and his rescuer, but then something snaps in the victim and he sends his savior to hell for the most shallow reason. Nonna who suggested Sarazanmai I started it and this show is fun so far, I love the music and how colorful it is favorite bit is probably the two otter-cops villain dance. Bit more lowbrow humor than I was expecting, transformation sequence caught me off guard the first time I saw it haha. You can really tell it's Ikuhara work though, especially during the moments when they're revealing their secrets with the silhouettes of the boys framing the scene. Curious to see where it goes, I'm expecting it to turn into a bit of a mindfuck.

Finished Sarazanmai! I loved Reo and Mabu's character arcs, such juicy angst, wish we got more flashbacks of it. Actually I wish it was 12 episodes and it could have definitely had more closure for the characters it's kind of wild that Toi goes to prison, gets out, and attempts suicide all in a post-credits scene. There could have been a whole next episode dedicated to that. Also what a fucking downer for him, like I refuse to believe just seeing his friends and playing soccer fixes the fact that his brother is gone. I think it'd be interesting to explore the idea of his friends helping him recover and the idea that you can move on after grief, but again that needed another episode (or two) more Otherwise it's well done, the pacing of the early conflicts with Enta and Kazuki was good. It felt like they were spread evenly for screentime even if in the end the two were more objects for Toi's final conflict. Police were my favorite but if I had to rank the boys it'd be Enta>Toi>Kazuki.

Anyone heard of "Here is Greenwood?" it's an old shoujo series about four boys attending a private school. What caught my eye is that the director for the OVA series worked on Ranma and Creamy Mami's adaptations. Planning to start it soon.

 No.11446

>>11443
I loved this manga so much. I used to read it while going through a very rough time, and being able to chillax with cute boys was one of the most healing things I'd ever read.

In hindsight, it was a bit like what K-ON must be to tired Salarymen. The stakes were never high, the showa-era art style was very good, and charming, melding the best of 1970's June magazines with the cutest that 80's shoujo had to offer. The boys were all charming and likable, and kept doing dumb stuff that got them into trouble, which was very very adorable. Greenwood was this magical place, set far way in a happier time, where trivial things grew large, angst was had over lesser things, and my own dire irl circumstances just plain didn't exist.

It was the very antithesis to the stuff popular with fujos at the time (Yami no Matsuei, Enzai), and I'm a bit sad that it's not as well-remembered as Free or Hetalia, it's a really lovely series that works best in small bites at the end of a long day.

(Also the lack of doujinshi is a darn shame…)

Fuck this show man.

That's a bit of an exaggeration, but it has a serious case of being front loaded with a few strong opening episodes before becoming kind of generic. Like I was expecting something like Kino's Journey, a slow-burn character study, but the moment the demons show up it becomes more generic fantasy with action and comedy. And while it has plenty of cute boys none of them are really shippable because they don't interact with each other enough. I've slowly been making my way through Gundam seed again after taking a break. The worst parts of the show had been the love drama but aside from that it's fine. I'm on episode 34 and I'll probably finish the first season this week. I like most of the characters but regarding that love drama, if any character would turn me into the girl-hating fujo stereotype that the antis think we are it'd be Flay and it's not even that there's any sort of homo dynamic that she's disrupting. She's just a turbocunt who clearly was never going to matter anyway considering the imagery in the OP and ED pairs Kira with Lacus instead. Fwiw I understand what they were going for with her character but she was still the cause of the plot points I found annoying. La flaga has been and still is a gigachad.

A love triangle would be the most simple way to describe it. Flay was engaged to a guy in her and Kira's friend group but she wanted to quite literally seduce Kira with her body so that he'd keep protecting everyone and he went for it even though she blatantly made it clear she's racist towards his kind. And as a result the cucked guy had a mini arc about how he can't compete with the guy who cucked him.

Been watching Yu Yu Hakusho for the first time, at the last arc right now and I really have been loving it a lot. Honestly I have a hard time picking a favourite from the main 4 boys but I definitely really like Hiei x Kurama. I watched HxH for the first time last year, really loved it too, so it's been fun seeing his first success and how much his writing has changed. I have a feeling this anime will have a sad ending seeing as all of the protagonists are now going separate ways in Demon World with Kuwabara being left behind for a good reason, but guess time will tell.
Also I'm watching the English dub cuz a friend really recommended it and tbh I actually think it's pretty good, I'm impressed.

Finished! I absolutely adored it, it was very fun. I still have a hard time picking a favourite boy, every character was very likeable. My favourite arc was the Dark Tournament, Toguro is a very solid antagonist and the amount of development for everyone was quite nice to see. I do know the manga ends differently and I did read how it was, idk how to feel about it for now, but the more happy lighthearted ending of the anime was cute. Overall it was really good! Tho if I were to choose between HxH or YYH I think I'd pick HxH, even then I do love them both.
Also I still ship these two but I see Hiei as the uke and Kurama as the seme, I like it when the edgelord is actually super submissive with relationships. I think my preferred positions are unpopular? I gotta read doujins now that I won't get spoiled.

It just occurred to me that I'm in the same situation as far as seasonal anime goes. I guess Shabake may count as male focused but with their period-accurate hairstyles you could argue that undermines the cuteness. I just took a look at anichart to see if there's anything male-focused next season. "Odayaka Kizoku no Kyuuka no Susume" seems to have only males on the promo art so that's promising, same with "Goumon Baito-kun no Nichijou". There's also that BL "Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai."

I recently finished the new Spy x Family season, I've been following the show since the first season came out (haven't read the mango) and it's pretty fun. Not a super fan or anything but I always enjoy it. Seeing as it's a het series, you rarely see any fujo content but I wish people did more Loid x Yuri. It has a lot of potential, with Yuri being a jealous siscon seething that Loid married his sister, sometimes with how mad he gets it feels like he wishes Loid was with him instead (and he just lies to himself saying it's to protect his sister). Oh well, I'll enjoy the small crumbs of fanart that exist.

I started some first episodes of this new season.
Goumon Baito-kun no Nichijou: The dynamic between these initial four guys is quite promising. The first two are relaxed and a bit sassy due to their senpai-kouhai status and adding the cutesy legal shota and the shy giant gives you a bunch of combinations in which these guys can bounce off of each other.
Arne no Jikenbo: I enjoy detective shows so I will usually try them out on principle. The protagonists have cute character designs and I like the vibes of the setting. It gets kinda chuuni but I'm into that.
Odayaka Kizoku no Kyuuka no Susume: It's kind of unusual to see an isekai that doesn't involve our world and instead transports a fantasy guy into a different fantasy world. I get the impression that this is going to be cozy and I'm looking forward to that. Also seems like this will have a nice variety of male characters.

 No.12552

I was randomly inspired to check out Osomatsu-san and see if its reputation held up since I'm a fan of comedy anime, even though the designs filter me from any fujo potential. The parodies were pretty funny, but the ikemen voices are at such odds with most of the muppets and I'm not a fan of their personalities so far, especially the chuuni guy. The comedy is also hit-or-miss. I ended up checking out the 80s Osomatsu-kun to compare and I'm enjoying everything about it a lot more. Even though the Matsus don't have distinct personalities they're more endearing. Whenever I'm a bit sick of modern anime tropes, older anime is always refreshing.

Interesting, are you going to check out the 60s series as well? I personally liked the style of humor in San more and the defined personalities but they are so different in their humor they aren't really comperable and it makes perfect sense to like on and not the other.

>Interesting, are you going to check out the 60s series as well?
If I can find it I will, but I haven't had any luck so far.
I love Gintama so it's a bit strange that many series by the same director keep missing the mark for me. It seems like Gintama must have been the best fit for his style, because it doesn't totally work in Osomatsu-san (and Boueibu's quality seriously dipped after the second season)

 No.12560

>>12552
I consider myself an osomatsu-san fan but even so I agree that the humor doesn't always land. The latest season in particular had some really terrible skits that stretched out a joke that was already unfunny to begin with.

Would be interested what you think of Charisma, I've seen a few people come away saying it's similar to Osomatsu-san's humor but I think it's got inherently better chances at consistent characterization. Doesn't move the setting around as much as Osomatsu-san or Gintama, so gags mostly stem from character traits rather than introducing outside concepts.

It's a newbie-friendly sequel.

Funny how Gai tends to sing songs out of context, which infuses the show with homolust.

I want to see him crossdress kek.

>The silver rocket I sent you / Now holds someone else's photo / Well then, while you embrace that one / Laugh at this sad love affair / Tearful Request, Final Request for you

As he chops off limbs of pretty boys, making him look like a yandere.

>In the locker room sheltering from the rain, you hung your head slightly / And said we could never go back / What could I have said to you, so painfully sincere / With the wind lodged in your eyes

What a gay song.

>The yaoibait is actually insane though. Very good movies for fujos.

The Chinese fujos for this movie have a third eye + galaxy brain for their ship-tism. For example, after the first movie, the CN fujos began to design how Ao Guang would look and started creating a backstory all based on Chinese myth. The pre-NZ2 Ao Guang fan design looks uncanny like the official one too.

Since the dragons were betrayed by Heaven, the fujos decided that the head of the heaven pantheon (emperor of heaven) would be the one who had an affair with Ao Guang, and later Ao Guang would leave him. It's all so dramatic and has a good taste of edge, but surprisingly it's the second most popular pairing in the Ne Zha movies. Leave it to fujos to create an entirely new character to ship kek
