>>11012I watched the entire first season in a single sitting, been a while since I've done that, haha. I was always put off from watching it because of how overly muscular the characters were, but in motion it really works and I loved how the water was animated. Will pace myself for the rest so I don't burn out.
Makoto is my favorite at the moment I love his tareme expressions and the mini ocean arc with him saving Rei sold me on him. I like all the boys though and the fact that they all spend a roughtly even ammount of time with each other makes the group dynamics really work. I hope it stays balanced next season with Rin.

>>11008I've been dying to rewatch Free with some nonnas… I've only seen the first two seasons but it was so fun being in a huge fujo fandom when it first came out. Even though he's underused and boyfriendless I still think Seijuurou's the hottest guy. Hard to go wrong though because the boys in this show are exactly my type.
>>11015Makorei is so based. Rinrei too.
I want to watch Natsume Yuujinchou soon too but I've been putting it off because I want to do so authentically with avi fansubs and a matching winamp skin.

I started watching this anime and to my surprise one of the main character's gooner friends is a fudanshi. He just straight up confesses his love for the MC and it's done sincerely.

>>11181Whoa I never expected to see that incest anime here of all places. I didn’t even remember the gay moments. Maybe I should rewatch it? I have a lot of nostalgia for it because it was one of the first anime I watched.
No.11185
>>11181lol all I remember about that anime was the art style being fugly as hell since the girls looked anachan-tier gangly but simultaneously pudgy since they tried to give them thigh chub. That, and it came hot off the presses after Oreimo cemented the long ass title LN craze. Besides the fujobait are there any other redeeming qualities?

No.11188

>>11207I know, right? Makoto and Haru had zero chemistry together. I think a lot of people are just allergic to conflict when it comes to romance stories and prefer friends-to-lovers to enemies-to-lovers, regardless of the characters' chemistry (a shame, really)
No.11210
>>11209Omg another ai fan. I never cared for the fandom love triangle makoto/haru/rin because I never liked Haru. I always found him really boring.
No.11211
>>11210AYRT same. I find the drama around the whole swimming / Rin / future / Makoto / university / whatever super boring. It's really predictable.
I want to swim the whole world blah blah I want to swim with everyone blah blah Makoto's character arcs are boring too.
Do I even like swimming, or am I gay for Haru? I like swimming, and I'm gay for Haru! The fluffy comedy slice of life segments are what I ended up enjoying.
But I dislike Haru even more because of how ungrateful he is to his friends. He's so rude, and normally I like stoic or kuudere-type characters. The swim club revolved around his own emo drama that he could have gotten over himself. It's not that deep, but declaring he only swims free always came across as selfish to me too. He's just really rude and boring.
No.11212
>>11209>but I wish there were more slice of life fun fluffy KyoAni moments rather than emo "Why do I swim?" drama. I'm probably retarded though.I feel you. I couldn't take Dive to the future seriously cause the drama was college-aged guys whining to each other over shit that happened when they were children.

I hate pedomoid mangaka SO MUCH, it's unbelievable. I loved THE UNLIMITED Hyoubu Kyosuke and its MC and so wanted to check out the parent story - Zettai Karen Children, but it's so full of pedotrash that I feel disgusted at myself for watching it at times. It's not even one episode or two, but EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. having some sort of gross child sexualisation or grooming to various extents. How this crap got published in a shounen mag is beyond me - even if the mangaka is a skeevy pedo, the editor should have axed A LOT just to make it readable for the shounen audience. What kind of shounentard even wants to see 10 year old girls as protags? Even worse, what kind of shounentard wants to see adults being given so much prominence and authority over kid characters? Who in their right mind thought that unedited lolicon trash would work well in a shounen mag? It's frustrating that a story with a good premise and potential for endless milking (so many ESP abilities!) got bogged down by some MAP creator's broken dick - hope it's broken for good. How this show managed to spawn such an entertaining AND clean spin-off is a mystery beyond comprehension.
So then let me list the depravity encountered. The pedomoid author made the MC (a 10yo girl) into some sexually-frustrated psycho child lesbian who molests adult women, reads ero mags, jokes about big boobs and panties etc. as if she had been a victim of SA - this is just disgusting. Nobody ever stops her, takes away her 'reading material' or tries to educate her. Oh, and her characterisation isn't even consistent, because later on she starts fantasising about her adult male supervisor (who is also the 'intended audience's' = pedos' self-insert) - that's what I call having your cake and eating it too when it comes to pedomoid degeneracy! Her handler isn't even into kids and must be one of the few male employees at BABEL who isn't a creep, but he is as boring as watching the paint dry and an in-your-face self-insert. Oh, and apparently the MC ends up with him at the end, according to manga spoilers (if these are true) - bet the mangaka couldn't help himself in the end and would ruin even okayish characters and the whole manga retrospectively only to have his grooming fantasies satisfied. Usagi Drop 2.0.

>>11238AND THEN we get an episode where the handler of the trio gets hypnotised and starts seeing the girls as adult women - this shite belongs straight in hentai. But you know what's worse? The girls (10yo) catch up and start making advances at him. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
It seems to me that the entire editorial department of Shounen Sunday needs to be investigated for CP possession.
I'm 20 episodes in and this pedo/grooming crap still doesn't get phased out. MIRACULOUSLY some new characters devoid of degen fuckery get introduced and stop me from dropping the show entirely. Imagine rooting for BABEL lol - a bunch of creeps, their enablers and victims. Burn that tower to the ground and shoot dead every adult men who tries to escape. So wild that a manga for lolicons got published in a shounen magazine instead of being confined to its containment zone of lolisho publications. This series had the potential to become a shounentard staple, but got killed off by unchecked pedos in power who cared more for their dicks than having a worldwide success.

I finished Sarazanmei and I don’t wanna spoil too much, but damn. I have a gripe about it and it’s why did they act like there was only one wish ever to get made? Like they had a golden dish of hope before, surely they could’ve gotten more than the two total. Otherwise, it was pretty fun. I did cry when Reo and Mabu kicked the bucket. Especially when Mabu forgot Reo. Felt like my soul left my body. I also cried when Enta got shot. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster for those last few episodes. I don’t wanna get too into shipping wars, but I’m pretty sure I shipped all the ships at some point in the show. For the most part, I was rooting for brotherfucker Tooi and Chikai, until that whole Chikai thing happened. I was also hoping for Enta to rebound into Tooi. I actually wasn’t completely prepared for Enta to be confirmed gay. I thought he was gonna get the Makoto from Free “weirdly into childhood friend but totally not gay” treatment.
No.11318
>>11315Yeah it kinda turned into the Tooi show, but I think they were trying to make all the boys MCs, but it didn’t turn out as well as they thought. >>11443I loved this manga so much. I used to read it while going through a very rough time, and being able to chillax with cute boys was one of the most healing things I'd ever read.
In hindsight, it was a bit like what K-ON must be to tired Salarymen. The stakes were never high, the showa-era art style was very good, and charming, melding the best of 1970's June magazines with the cutest that 80's shoujo had to offer. The boys were all charming and likable, and kept doing dumb stuff that got them into trouble, which was very very adorable. Greenwood was this magical place, set far way in a happier time, where trivial things grew large, angst was had over lesser things, and my own dire irl circumstances just plain didn't exist.
It was the very antithesis to the stuff popular with fujos at the time (Yami no Matsuei, Enzai), and I'm a bit sad that it's not as well-remembered as Free or Hetalia, it's a really lovely series that works best in small bites at the end of a long day.

Started Sailor Moon very OK, I feel bad for not being wowed by it since I like Tokyo Mew Mew, Cutie Honey Flash, and Mermaid Melody several shows I'm aware are just blatant rip-offs of it. The devil on my shoulder is saying it's because there aren't enough male characters, but I think also I just find the moralizing each episode annoying and very "kiddy," which is fine, it's aimed at children, but it doesn't do much for me.
I've been promised two of these characters are fucking so maybe that will get me into it, but if I'm not impressed by the end of the first series I'm not watching R, on episode 19 now.

I do know the manga ends differently and I did read how it was, idk how to feel about it for now, but the more happy lighthearted ending of the anime was cute. Overall it was really good! Tho if I were to choose between HxH or YYH I think I'd pick HxH, even then I do love them both.

What should I watch next Sengoku Basara or Blue Period?

I was randomly inspired to check out Osomatsu-san and see if its reputation held up since I'm a fan of comedy anime, even though the designs filter me from any fujo potential. The parodies were pretty funny, but the ikemen voices are at such odds with most of the muppets and I'm not a fan of their personalities so far, especially the chuuni guy. The comedy is also hit-or-miss. I ended up checking out the 80s Osomatsu-kun to compare and I'm enjoying everything about it a lot more. Even though the Matsus don't have distinct personalities they're more endearing. Whenever I'm a bit sick of modern anime tropes, older anime is always refreshing.
No.12553
>>12552Interesting, are you going to check out the 60s series as well? I personally liked the style of humor in San more and the defined personalities but they are so different in their humor they aren't really comperable and it makes perfect sense to like on and not the other.

>>12553>Interesting, are you going to check out the 60s series as well?If I can find it I will, but I haven't had any luck so far.
I love Gintama so it's a bit strange that many series by the same director keep missing the mark for me. It seems like Gintama must have been the best fit for his style, because it doesn't totally work in Osomatsu-san (and Boueibu's quality seriously dipped after the second season)
No.12560
>>12552I consider myself an osomatsu-san fan but even so I agree that the humor doesn't always land. The latest season in particular had some really terrible skits that stretched out a joke that was already unfunny to begin with.
No.12578
>>12559Would be interested what you think of Charisma, I've seen a few people come away saying it's similar to Osomatsu-san's humor but I think it's got inherently better chances at consistent characterization. Doesn't move the setting around as much as Osomatsu-san or Gintama, so gags mostly stem from character traits rather than introducing outside concepts.

Right now I like MC how self-conscious and realistic he is about his art skills. When I was younger I used to draw for fun, but once I hit high school I realized that my art was shit compared to all the online artists I looked up to so I just stopped altogether. Now I wish I'd stuck with it, guess I find him admirable for that reason. haha

>>12740Unless you mean gay shota, then no. It's probably the most common type of protagonist in the last few years because for some reason WN authors love writing that eight-year-olds are in charge of their own duchy and entrusted with political/economic/military decisions.

Funny how Gai tends to sing songs out of context, which infuses the show with homolust.

>>12806Another Ne Zha fan!! The second movie was so excellent! I can't wait for the third!
>The yaoibait is actually insane though. Very good movies for fujos. The Chinese fujos for this movie have a third eye + galaxy brain for their ship-tism. For example, after the first movie, the CN fujos began to design how Ao Guang would look and started creating a backstory all based on Chinese myth. The pre-NZ2 Ao Guang fan design looks uncanny like the official one too.
Since the dragons were betrayed by Heaven, the fujos decided that the head of the heaven pantheon (emperor of heaven) would be the one who had an affair with Ao Guang, and later Ao Guang would leave him. It's all so dramatic and has a good taste of edge, but surprisingly it's the second most popular pairing in the Ne Zha movies. Leave it to fujos to create an entirely new character to ship kek

>the fujos decided that the head of the heaven pantheon (emperor of heaven) would be the one who had an affair with Ao Guang, and later Ao Guang would leave himTheir minds. The creativity. We are evolving as a species. Okay but seriously though, I also thought about how Ao Guang's human form had to be handsome while watching NZ1. Very satisfied at what he looked like in NZ2. Fuck I love the dragon boy and his dad. I also thought the furry demons were cute af.

Anon who has been watching 80s Osomatsu-kun. Fujo stuff was the furthest thing from my mind so when Chibita accidentally kissed Osomatsu in that one episode it was a jumpscare. But then I thought about it, and you know what? Would ship it, actually. It's enemies to lovers that would cause Romeo and Juliet 2.0 levels of family drama. I would pay to see that play out.
And Chibita is actually a catch. He's best friends with stray cats and is surprisingly smooth on a date. He's way out of the Matsus' league, but that's okay.
…Anyway, still wouldn't be my weirdest/most cartoonishly ugly ship.

Started watching Shiboyugi today. It made me briefly consider the idea of an all-dude death game, only to realize I'd probably just end up seething because I'm 100% sure the type of guys I like would end up dying first. Maybe just a psychological torture one, or something. Anyway, Shiboyugi is neat enough, very fun/pretty visually.

This anime still gives me a warm/fuzzy feeling after each episode. The characters are really sweet and thank god the MC isn't another edgelord.
