>>5274>"je t'aime" in the French manga so it's almost onviously a love confession, friends are almost never this direct to avoid misunderstandings and usually say "je t'aime bien" or "je t'aime beaucoup">"je t'apprécie" in the shitflix subtitles is the type of line you say to stay formal, when you don't mean it but you have to stay polite or to be nice to someone who's not really a friend yetCool so now does that mean French speaking fans will have schizo arguments over Hikaru's feeling and whether it's gay or just friendship?

>>5282No but there are less annoying ways to convey dialects and ways of speaking in English that aren't like your pic. Atakushi character's for instance being written to sound like rich sterotypes, or Ore characters tending to speak in rougher slang. A few interesting example of good localized dialects and speech patterns…
Yamada in Danganronpa THH uses "dono" to refer to all his classmates, as such he is the only character in the translation who uses English honorifics reffering to everyone as "Miss. Asahina" or "Mr. Naegi"
In the original Yu-gi-oh dub Joey Wheeler has a Brooklyn accent. It's one of the most memorable elements of the show and it comes from the fact that Joey doesn't use any honorifics and speaks in a "rude" tone. Since we associate Brooklyn accents with hustlers or otherwise ratty people it instantly tells us whst type of character he is.
And lastly for RPGs eapecially older titles on the NES and SNES given those take place in ye old fantasy Europe the translations lean into more sterotypical "thee" and "thou" style writing. Flowery perhaps, but effectively conveys the intended time and mood.

Flowery perhaps, but effectively conveys the intended time and mood. That one is fucking shit because typically in these games the characters talk in all sorts of ways that aren't nearly as old fashioned as these English translations. It's typically a case of translators imposing their headcanons on everyone because "that's just how it should ve based on Lord of the Ring which also has magic just like Final Fantansy and Dragon Quest does!" and then you see the main characters talk like your average shonen manga main characters the whole time in Japanese. In some cases it even make characters look ooc.

You are now remembering Funimation's policy to subtitle "oniisan" and "oneesan" as "bubba" and "sissy".

But yeah it's not, at best it has gay jokes but despite the manservice it's no gayer than any sports shonen which suprised me a bit. I also think it's funny because the second season has noticeably less male fanservice than the first almost like they had an "Oh shit this might be marketable to the main Kyoani demographic." And they didn't want to scare them away haha. Still good, and shippable, I'm glad the single female character is just a fangirl and poses no romantic threat at all.

>>5643depends, are you asking as someone who hasn’t seen it? i’d say the uncanny vibes only last for the very first few episodes, then it scatters in some silly moments, then it’s more angsty and introspective until about episode 7ish which tbh is the peak of the anime for me, then everything since then (aside from maybe the latest episode) has been “hey let’s go talk to all the old people we know to solve the town’s mystery” so maybe scooby doo would be a more apt comparison than lilo and stitch kek.

Maybe the love from first sight? lol Or maybe at first he helped because he's just a nice guy like that, but then fell in love after sex. It doesn't seem to be very well-written, it's true. But maybe it was different in the manga?

>>6212>Their dynamic is so boring imo, feels like a Reddit age gap couple where the older guy only cares about playing video games all dayLMAO yes, i do find the dynamic boring too. It's to a point that i think watching Yua and Sei's dynamic play out more would be more interesting. It's unusual when it's 2 people get isekaied, not only that, but they're strangers and she's a kid and he's an adult trying to guide her. They had interesting moments together. It makes me think this anime maybe would be better off if it was mainly non-romance, And Aresh/Sei yaoi would be sidelined a bit.
To me the whole anime is boring and tries to be overly-wholesome. I do like when Aresh gets to be a more aggressive young buck for our passive drone, but they won't go far with it. I'll enjoy it while it lasts, but that's about it.
>>6213>basically grows addicted to being the only able to take care of him.Yeah, i can see that then. It's like he found himself a cat, kek
