NTAYRT but the expensive cost of shipping doujins comes more from whatever proxy is shipping it to you. Let's say a proxy service has a flat fee of 500 yen per item. If I wanted to buy 10 doujins I would already have to pay up 5000 yen. Adding onto this with the doujin's original price and domestic shipping within Japan makes it even worse. On the bright side post-tariffs my doujins have never been affected as they are classified as duty free.

Yup, and I've even READ BL like this and no one moralfags about it they're just like "wow how sad/what a cheating bitch" they don't try and discern your views of actual bisexuals/gays from reading about that kind of thing. People are so concerned with the portrayal of women in a genre made by and for women it's odd, as if a lot of romance shojo/josei doesn't also rely on making a lot of the female characters around the MC complete psychos to make the MC look better/innocent.

Yeah you're right I've been hearing a vocal minority for a while now get upset that bisexual characters only end up in same-sex relationships, even in m/m/f love triangles, and its like first of all the average het fan does not want to see the MC be even a little gay so that leaves these kind of characters only to be in genres appealing to yaori fans who are obviously gonna root for the same sex partner. Secondly, and I'm not sure how to word this but sometimes the whole story is written very differently depending on which partner is end-game, and a lot of hetcoom tropes pop up when the het LI does win, these situations kind of end up revealing the "distance" with which m/f couples are written and then relying on the infantilization of the women, while the same sex couple acts more naturally if that makes sense? Idk this is just something I've noticed in the few bisexual love triangles I read but by default it's going to alienate a lot of people.

This rarely even happens. It's always the other way around and if anyone says anything about it, people respond with the typical "bisexuals in m/f relationships are still bisexual" spiel. I remember this discourse happened with Laurent from Great Pretender. He was stated to be bisexual but you'd only ever see him flirt with women in the show and his ex was a woman, besides that it was just lame gaybait with Edamura.

That's my core theory for why yume and hets latch onto gay. Gay characters (be it bromances, hinted gay/gay fanservice or actually obviously gay) are simply the better written male characters and since fujo series don't pander to waifu fags they ironically have the better written women too because they're not drawn and acting like 12 year old moe blobs.

It's simply a market niche and demand for men that mostly only fujo series fill. Fujo pandering series (including seinen like Golden Kamuy) simply ALLOW the men to have fanservice, do sexy things, have feelings, close friendships and break down and such. Something het pandering shows don't because the men are either evil rivals that the author projects their school bullies into or they're insecure, alternatively CHAD and soulless self-inserts.
There is nothing going for them, they're just there to win and fuck or to be adored by the girls. And the women are just there for cheap tradwaifu, loli or "nerd girrl" fanservice.

Majority of my OCs are bisexual so I get your concern too, especially as I've written them having close f/f & m/m relationships & friendships as I think that's interesting even if the endgame for all of them is a same-sex partner. The author was flying way too close to the sun with her current skill level and the fandom gassing up the series to be "literature" while not noticing its pitfalls, and she touched a subject/trope most BL writers refuse to write (bisexual with lingering feelings for the woman/the woman being a strong contender for the race) because it's legitimately hard to not come across as the love between the men as false or flimsy. It has its place in a "queer" romance but in a BL, it's crazy hard to break this rule and frankly it's OKAY that there's a rule, spoken or unspoken. Genre rules can be broken but some rules have to be set in stone otherwise it's no longer that a genre. From what I've gleaned, it seems to have been a case of 'I can't love you after anymore what you've done' vs 'I love you in spite of what you've done'. Handled by a better author (with a better audience. tbh. I think the blame does partly fall on the readers/hetshippers for this one…), that could be some amazing writing. Oh well.

I don't mind failed marriages/relationships, with the seme swooping in to pick up the pieces. That's got a lot of opportunity for some drama and interesting plots. I'm not a fan of 'evil cheating girlfriend', but done otherwise I think it could work. The bi guy just being unable to maintain a relationship with a woman because what he really wants is a man has potential.

I like writing and reading omegaverse stuff, but I never interacted with general western english speaking fans of it, just people in series fandoms or when discussing published BL. Most of the stuff I read is from jp/kr users, but because grok is all languages now and I kept looking at posts about BL the algorithm started sending me english language omegaverse posts. They're not bad but they just miss the mark for me and I mentally correct them to my tastes. Then after a few weeks of it I started being sent ones with very different language. Ones which started talking about pussy, cunt, and "pups". I always thought that shit was a myth because I'd gone years consuming omegaverse without encountering any of it and I even went some weeks reading eng tweets without seeing it either. None of the fandom specific ones have ever had it. But then suddenly it was there. I don't know why but "pups" grossed me out the most. The ones that use "pussy" and "cunt" are always a single line and amount to "he fuck him in the pussy" and nothing more so they're really easy to scroll by. The pup ones will be whole thread stories where you don't see it coming.

There were multiple people confused by the word "mod." Everyone else was spamming the words "aura" and "just like solo leveling." I'm never trying this again. The male character still pined, still dreamed of having that marriage with a wife and child, still wants that life with said family, still wants to have his son back, etc. Coming to the conclusion that "well I guess I loved my top all along actually" does not change the tension and angst the bottom felt at the prospect of getting his wife back.

I'm sure a more competent writer could have achieved it, but I do think it's kind of hard given the genre and the genre expectations for BL.

I think it's a mixture of both the author's lack of skill and the fans, but really I don't think the fujos should have received any blame for their reactions when the author was genre-fucking BL and the hetties had a shitton of ammunition against the lead top.

Totally agree. There's bucking genre conventions and then there's lying about the genre to attract an audience and then immediately screwing them over. I think authors know at this point that fujos are the most likely group to produce hype and fanart/etc, so fujobaity appeals seem even more mercenary than before.
