It's a hentai, but Kiritsu, Kiotsuke, Rei! explores a romance with someone who's explicitly labelled (rudely by his peers) as autistic. S2 is about to end, and the plan is 4 seasons if everything goes well. Each season focuses on a different MC. S1 is Jin, S2 is Kimoto, and Garon and Tehir will be the other MCs later. The author struggles with myopathy so it sometimes goes on monthly hiatuses. It really needs support because it might get cancelled (hope not, it’s pure kino). I really like the villain, he’s hilarious. The humor is absurd but it hits hard too the story. Highly recommend if you want something unique. Ongoing.

Super cute, no toxicity. The MC’s girlfriend seems obsessed with a nerd guy from his college. Afraid she’s cheating on him, he starts stalking the nerd to catch them together. It’s rare to see that kind of writing, really satisfying to watch. Finished.

The ML is supposedly a serial killer, and the doppelganger has to kill him soon or he’ll disappear. The prince has seen ghosts since childhood (some even molest him) and he’s cursed by someone *cough evil stepmom cough*, so everyone calls him crazy and a schizo that's unfit to rule in the future. By sleeping with the ghost he gets temporary protection, so they end up tangled together and also help him to break the curses. The ghost just wants him to fall for him so he can go back as fast as possible, but he ends up falling hard himself. Starts off rough but gets really good, and the art is stunning. S4 coming soon, they extended it since it’s popular so ongoing it is.

I've tried Ides of March some time back and found the premise interesting, but the cop was so unreasonably mean to the poor florist guy so I stopped around chapter 5 or so. I get that he's an ex-con but there has to be a better way extracting info instead of straight up boning poor dude in the shop. I was about to drop it too tbh, because the florist is such a nice and pure hearted guy, but I’m glad I kept going it really gets better. The realization hits around chapters 28-30, when he finally understands how horrible he’s been, and from there he actually redeems himself and tries his best to become a man worthy of him. He knows he doesn’t deserve it after everything he’s done, and he’s still kind of unhinged, but his POVs are amazing. No for real, he got one of the best redemption arcs I’ve ever seen, so definitely give it a try.

I'm not the initial anon, but I also highly recommend Bara no Ki. It's a sort of Showa gothic period piece like you're looking for. It also has pretty robust mechanics - the boys all have routes with each other, not just the main protagonist, which lets the game develop really well-rounded characterization. I bought my copy from DLsite, but you can also find it on Animate Games and DMMM. You could also probably find it on eroge piracy sites if you know where to look, but if you do make sure you're getting the modern rerelease.

Vassalord is great! It's hard to find a good English translation of the later volumes, but the plot is compelling and I love the characters. The relationship feels earned.

I also second Count Cain but it's less explicitly a romance. Still really good, and an excellent twist on Master Servant, which I love as well.
