>>4099So, it's a story focused on an exorcist named Lance who's just an absolutely miserable, exhausted man. Lance is charged with getting rid of bad spirits and demons, typical exorcist stuff, and is pretty much a lone wolf until William, a cop, joins in on his latest investigation. William seems like a pretty normal and decent guy, but it's also kind of obvious (to the reader, at least), that he knows more about Lance than he initially lets on, and their meeting might've been more than chance. The first volume is largely setup, with some neat visuals and the promise of a more extensive plot. What little about the backstory was revealed was very interesting, and since finishing it, I've liked it enough to continue speculating about what will happen next. There's also a bonus chapter that provides a bit more information about William that makes his intentions toward Lance a bit more clear and definitely more concerning. I think the relationship's almost guaranteed to evolve into something manipulative, as it's already heading down that path. I like that the leads are older (late 20s and mid 30s), and I'm personally a fan of the art style. If you have any interest in horror or mystery, particularly with religious themes and the promise of a darker romance, you'll probably enjoy it. From my understanding, the manga is complete (just untranslated), and reception of the final volume seems pretty positive, so I'm under the assumption Volumes 2 and 3 end satisfactorily.

The saga continues. This is one of the funniest recent things on twitter.
>because for years I've been told that yaoi is an outdated termI am really, really happy because I hate the term BL for the same reason I hate the word "boyfriend". It implies the guy in question is a boy I and I am not into the underaged so I always kept using yaoi kek
I hope the term makes a comeback, it's so much better than "boyslove". Not only does it imply a very young age it also sounds too safe. Yaoi I associate with everything m/m related including the porn, BL sounds like those coffee shop school boy manga they're trying to sell these days.
It's probably just me.

>>4277I think they probably learned the term old man yaoi from English speakers and liked it enough to pick it up, but if they were typing in Japanese, they might use a different term. This person is kind of an outlier.

>>4277It's funny how she casually saw that one post and discovered a whole new world and now they're already consider translating her series.
The learning-with-yaoi idea is also cute. I am glad she's having fun. Hope that the old men and the term "yaoi" will filter the idiots I don't want her to make some bad experiences with shitty westerners.
No.4282
>>4277She's using "old man yaoi" as a loanword, it just so happens that "yaoi" was originally japanese. Think of it in this way "yaoi" on it's own is outdated, "Old man yaoi" is a new term with a more recent usage.

>>4297I am basically what these people call "aroace" and I hate seeing the term to be honest. I don't even know what irks me. Maybe I just hate that traits of mine are turned into identity bullshit because I just consider them traits. I don't even consider my gender relevant (not a tranny, trannies care about that) why do they want to turn everything into labels and IDpol stuff?
There are some characters that I consider borderline asexual but I dislike the exclusivity that term is implying. E.g. I was never attracted to a real person in my life and my sex drive is so low that I never masturbated or felt the urge to fuck somebody. So the term "aroace" could apply to me. But I can still (rarely) be attracted to some certain fictional characters and I like to use them to explore the concept of sex, if that makes sense. So even I would consider myself having a low sex drive and being fucked in the head for disliking the look of real people, but not 100% asexual so I feel it's unnecessary to use it on characters.
That aside, real aroaceness DOES contradict homosexuality, so she is wrong. Attraction is sexual.
Further I guess I just don't like how the trait is implied to be some oppressed minority shit. Yeah it causes issues, but only indirectly (lack of a drive, doomed to stay single and living life the hard mode because you can barely pay the rent if you live alone etc.), I never experienced any sort of oppression because of it. It's so weird having it being part of the lgbt+ and I don't identify with this. Maybe I just hate having someone imply that I am a victim lol

>>4297>>4299Isn't it just that the supernatural creature has no true sense of romance or sexuality, but the gay human is gay? People have been fighting for months over whether it's still a gay story because the gay kid isn't actively having gay kisses, and then accusing the series of being "queerbait" because non-sexual non-humans is often an excuse to no homo stories.

I’m really pissed at this recent trope in general, it’s so obviously just there to bait fujos and then shit on us by going ‘NOOOO HE’S ASEXUAL HE WAS JUST HORNY FOR ANOTHER GUY BECAUSE THEY’RE PLATONIC BESTIES!!!’

>>4301>that has a Bluesky account, no offense to anyone who has one but I find the site to be a redflagTo be fair a lot of BL manga artists, either pros or artists who just draw fanart, moved to Bluesky because of Elon Musk changing a few things on Twitter in November. Some wanted to be able to block whoever they want and others just want to advertise their manga or doujinshi on as many social media profiles as possible. This one is weird though.

>>4300Sorry that makes more sense. I guess I should have formulated my post differently, since I was talking about the usage of aroace in general save for the latter part of my post.
I am retarded and never read that series so I didn't know. I guess in that case her post does make sense, assuming that the aroace part refers to the alien alone and the homo part to the two others. I am not reading it so I don't know if that's what she says or if she implies that the other character was ace as well.
Besides the reasons I already mentioned an issue I have with aceness in fiction is that it always happens to gay characters, see
>>4302. I haven't heard of a het series with this yet. A series where the character remained ace I mean.

>>4304I wrote that when I was going to bed so I kinda forgot people use it for more than dumb discourse oops. But yeah, if you use it to post art and/or to expand your brand then there's no issue with that. This mangaka however using it to call her work "aroace" and to say her work is not "queer baiting" is wild, I dunno if she was always like this but the Twitter vermin got to her very quickly.

>>4306>assuming that the aroace part refers to the alien alone and the homo part to the two othersI'm pretty sure this is what it's about because she said the eldritch guy can't feel love or something.
Aroace is a weird term to use here, but she probably picked it up from twitter discoursers.
