Does anyone have any recommendations for something kind of similar to Sakura-Gari? I like mysteries and horror. I prefer a long-ish story where the characters don't immediately get together, especially if one of them is kind of resistant to it. I like an antagonistic element to the relationship, but that's not a requirement or anything. I don't mind sad endings, and the main things I care about are plot and character development/dynamics. I very much care that the story or characters are compelling, and also has BL elements interwoven in it. Some examples of BL media I have enjoyed are Hashihime of the Old Book Town, MADK, Sakura-Gari, Happy Shitty Life, and Lkyt. Some examples of things I did not enjoy (or just aren't what I'm looking for) are DRAMAtical Murder, 10 Count, and Moritat.

>>4000Do you prefer manga only or anything? Assuming only manga, I think these might work:
-FAKE: This one's a little dated, but I still adore it even if it might not be for everyone. It's funny and silly for the most part, but during the later parts of the story, it delves into exactly what you're looking for in regard to the uke and themes. I really think this might capture the vibe you're wanting, assuming you can get past the Dorito chins.
-There Are Things I Can't Tell You: This might be a little angsty for your taste, but it does have the psychological aspects and the denial.
It has a happy ending, so don't worry on that front!-Ero Yume Aquarium: I thought this one was cute, and it fits some of your criteria. It's fairly lighthearted and cheerful. It's not terribly psychological, but there are a lot of sea creature facts kek.
-Qualia Under the Snow: I didn't love this, but a lot of people really do. It kind of fits the themes you like with its characters, and it's somewhat psychological.
-Happy Shitty Life: Probably the least fitting recommendation, I'm just going to throw it out there because the characters are pretty tsundere, it's funny, and at least one of them was very tenuously straight at the story's outset.
If you like VNs, I have some more suggestions you might also enjoy.

>>4000Same! It's such a good series and I have never been able to find a similar series to scratch the homophobic uke itch or even tackle homophobia in the same way at all.
>>4002Thank you for the suggestions nonna! Think I'm going to try There Are Things I Can't Tell You.

No.4030
>>4018You're welcome! I hope you like at least one of them! For VNs, you might like:
-Hashihime of the Old Book Town: This is almost exactly what you're describing. The protagonist (uke) is definitely tsundere, and there's a lot of internalized homophobia on both sides. He's the human incarnate of denial lmao. Of course, most people have already read this one, so I'm pretty sure you will have. If not, you absolutely should.
-Tokyo Onmyoji: So, this one doesn't have so much of the internalized homophobia part, but the protagonist is very much in denial about his feelings (especially towards one particular LI). The conflict comes from a bunch of factors. I think it happens in a way that feels relevant enough to include it on this list. The protagonist (uke) is tsundere, but he has a sort of arrogance about him that makes him very interesting to watch. He doesn't have any hangups about being gay, but he has enough other hangups regarding his relationships that it might be worth trying.
-UUUltraC: There are three sets of protagonist-LI pairs, and the second route is very much what you describe. The MC (uke) is homophobic, and he's pretty tsundere. The third route also has this vibe, but less than the second. There are a couple of annoying elements in the plot, but I think it's overall worth it.
-Mahoutsukai to Tenshi to Akuma: The uke protagonist of this one is unarguably a tsundere. In the angel's route, the angel had some hangups about their relationship, if I recall. I don't think it was homophobia-related specifically, but I remember the two had a lot of hangups about getting together. The protagonist denies his feelings constantly. The story is very cute and pretty lighthearted, although some of the bad endings might not be your favorite.

Just read, and want to recommend Merry Checker by Suzuki Tsuta. Online blogger has an IRL meet up where someone he thought was a young woman turns out to be a man. Not really catfishing or anything, just mistaken identity. It's fluffy and only a single volume.

>>4125It's definitely a much more interesting dynamic, I remember rping with this on an old discord, the story was about a knight who is subtly influenced by this enemy agent to embrace his more savage tendencies, the enemy agent drugs him even with viagra so he always has a boner, in a heated moment the when the knight is filled with lust, the agent sucks his cock for him and it gradually escalates to fucking, at the end the knight is like a wild dog and the agent is both his bitch and master

>>5068The top is really, really endearing if you like the eager to learn, praise-seeking type. His appearance makes sense for his implied backstory so far, but I can see where it's not everyone's taste. Personally, I love the full tats and scars, but I've also acclimated to Korean BL musclemen the same way I did broad-shoulder semes back in the day.
Both characters have a fun dynamic, and the MC is more thoughtful than I expected. I think it's worth a try, especially if it already sounded like something you'd enjoy.
