>>14656The art in question.
My TokiyaxOtoya heart is so happy. There has been fujoshipping and BL bait in UtaPri since as far I can remember ie. the first anime season aired, so I don't really get some people.
Plus fans quoting the original tweet with official art of the dudes being all affectionate with each other in actual cd releases and bonuses.
I guess this was the last straw for yumes in general, not just UtaPri fans, since the reddit thread mentions Garumani and that infamous otome drama cd with the BL fanservice scene kek

>>14659What if you try and hoyo-ify their mascots? Like, for example: England's national team has these lions and roses. For that, I'd have him wear the uniform, but maybe give him lion ears and rose vines around his legs like stockings, or something. Football teams normally have more than one jersey, right? What if they wear the main jersey, and then the frills and accessories are based on the other jerseys?
No.14661
>>14660I don't play any Hoyo games so I'll have to see how they do stuff, but I like the idea of being based on the other jerseys for accessories and frills and to use anything that the team might represent, thanks! I think maybe I can do a version with the more complex outfit and one just with the normal uniform to allow myself to go crazy with details.

I found out little kuriboh trooned out after hearing the same about two streamers I briefly watched and that team cherry programmer and at this point I feel like I'd never want to date a quirky weeb or gamer guy on principle cause they would be at a higher risk of doing this. Then again maybe I just have a biased viewpoint on principle since I hang out in weeb and gamer spaces.
No.14670
>>14669No that's fair. The more detached from the real world and nerdier a guy is the higher chances of him trooning out, especially weebs and gamers in CS/tech.

>>14669Wtf this was a couple of days ago. I thought he’d just faded into obscurity along with YGOTAS. I agree with you; there’s something about nerd culture in particular that’s super coddling of troons. It’s probably the combination of also to woke as fuck while also being incredibly misogynistic/male-centered at the same time.
Also, was anyone else here a fan of YGOTAS in its heyday but found it unfunny and dated as time went on? Besides YGOTAS and Team Four Star I was never a fan of the Abridged Series format. They feel more like a vehicle for the creator’s VA talent and humor rather than a fan work meant to appeal to fans of the original IP. YGOTAS was a combo of 2000s humor + pre-social media internet fandom + early anime industry weirdness that was so poignant for that particular moment in time, but as time marched on none of those were relevant anymore. For example so much of YGOTAS’ humor was contingent on poking fun of 4Kids’ weird family-friendly dub edits and censorship, but that phenomenon is long dead.
Ironically, a lot of the old episodes would not have sat well with the woke crowd too. Doesn’t Bakura get called a “shemale” multiple times? Fast forward to today they’re making “JKR evil” jokes and then finally the creator himself troons out.

>>14672I was a fan when I was in 6th grade. lolrandumb humor was as funny as you would expect for a literal child.
I followed them all for years until college when I genuinely got tired of them. Though, I think the problem was that it was the kind of humor you expect from a white, suburban guy with no world view outside a gated community. Unlike Purpleeyes and Weeklytubeshow2 who were not afraid of offending people and were actually socially aware enough to be funny.
https://plausiblydeniable.com/five-geek-social-fallacies/I recommend giving this blog post a read because it explains entirely the problem with fan spaces and what to look out for.

But, frankly, I'm not surprised. LK was outed as bisexual back in the day, and he wrote Bakura/Marik fanfic. I was a huge fan of YGOTAS as a kid—it was probably the first intro I had to comedy beyond like, cartoon network. I've got a lot of nostalgic fondness for it, and I suppose it'll have to stay nostalgic forever now.

>>14672I think at some point TFS started partially writing the scripts and editing the episodes? Forgot when exactly it started but I know the episodes around 2013 were still pretty good and I also loved the Bonds Beyond Time abridged. The newer episodes have the occasional decent joke but you can tell there's a lot of different hands in it.

>>14673I think the part that covered Duelist Kingdom was the peak; iirc that’s where the majority of the memes and memorable quotes came from (eg SCREW THE RULES I HAVE MONEY). It probably didn’t help that most of the fun came from 1) poking fun at 4Kids and 2) poking fun at the inherent absurdity of YGO, but 4Kids was on their way out by the turn of the 2010s, and the Battle City arc didn’t have the weird Duelist Kingdom rules that made early YGO so silly.
I’ve heard of the five geek social fallacies before. They’re a classic and still very much applicable to this day. GSF1 Ostracizers are Evil is single-handedly responsible for at least 50% of what ends up deteriorating nerd groups; that people are unwilling to gatekeep in the name of inclusivity.
>>14674I remember he openly shipped Bakura/Marik and there was Rivalshipping content in TAS, which in retrospect was kind of ballsy of him since at that time straight men were a lot more outwardly hostile to fujos and M/M pairings.
>>14675I haven’t watched TAS in ages, let alone the newer episodes but that makes a lot of sense.

Does anyone else find those gigantic dicks in korean manhwas a turn-off? When did that actually become a thing? I see dicks that are as big as actual arms, it happens way too often and It completely takes me out of the story.

>>14717Same, and I think it's funny considering how insane K-cels get about the pinching symbol because feminists used it to make fun of their small dicks (relative to the rest of the world). I don't think that's the reason but I guess since they like broader, more muscular bodies compared to other countries' BL it would just look "small" if they made it realistically sized so they size it up. I wouldn't be surprised if they just also wanted to particularly sadistic to the ukes compared to other countries kek. I find a lot about KR anatomy takes me out sometimes so I like when it's more vague because the anus being in the wrong place also takes me out. I can ignore it in manga because everything's more broadly censored.

Please for the love of god just call something a genderbend. I've been seeing a lot of these "haha what if peter parker was a TRANS woman :))))" shit lately and it's literally just genderbend plots. It's just genderbend. Call it fucking genderbend. Why does it have to be trans? Even the supposed "trans" art is just the same old generic genderbend, just call it genderbend.
No.14726
>>14725Some people still consider them straight up transphobic (though this has been dying out) or the lame predecessor of trans headcanons because it's not woke enough. I never understood the argument of genderbends being transphobic because the reasoning is you're essentializing the new traits you're giving to that character as belonging to xyz gender, but someone's genderbend is not be-all and end-all of a certain sex, it's just one depiction of it. No one says "if you give Gojo dreads that must think you have to have dreads to be black!!!". I also don't understand how trans headcanons fall outside of this either because could you not argue the same thing anyway…

>>14721I've been reading some manhwa where they exclaim how big the top's dick is and make a big deal over how difficult and painful it is to fit anywhere, and even those weren't THIS big, good lord. That's not even gonna fit in his pants when he's flaccid. Speaking of, it annoys me when they talk up how unnaturally massive the dick is but when he's at work the next day he's completely flat down the front there. Make it embarrassing for him, come on. Knock it on the edge of a desk when someone tries to squeeze past this dude made of five pigs worth of meat. Fetishize that shit for me, won't you.
>>14725Huh, all the ones I got sent were very specific jokes about deadnaming, virtue signalling in the media, injections (Green Goblin), and transitioning (becoming a lizard man). That stuff should have the word trans put on it for people's filters.
>>14731I've managed to dodge that stuff but one time accidentally ended up with people who want to fuck quilava. Not anthropomorphized, just straight up quilava. Turned out the artist was being retweeted by other JP artists I'd liked who only did cute art and didn't give a shit what else they posted. I guess I appreciate the relaxed attitude but I had no idea how to make it go away except ignore any art of quilava at all for weeks.

I got curious and I watched pic related, the movie that is every fandom's punching bag this week. It's really not the worst thing ever, far from it, but I can see why people call it "cringe". It's made for the Millennial Tumblr audience, it has the same kind of quirky humour, which lands flat for zoomies (like me) nowadays. I found it kinda boring imo, it wasn't offensively bad but it wasn't that entertaining. I liked the amount of details the backgrounds have and how experimental stuff got in the therapy sequence but that's it. The worst thing for me was probably the music, but the biggest issues were scenes that didn't add anything to the plot or just characters not having good chemistry with each other. I know it's supposed to be satire, but sometimes it tries to paint itself as serious, which just makes the story confusing to me.
Tho I will say, I'm definitely easily entertained because the Straight White Maliens, the main bad guys, end up realising they don't need women and become a gay trio couple. That activated something in my brain lmao, even if I find the art style of the movie to not be my cup of tea, incel losers becoming gay is something I eat up. I ended up liking the antagonists more, the Problematic Ship was my favourite character, I just liked how much of an asshole he was.
Overall maybe like a 3 or 4 out of 10 for me, it's definitely overhated, but eh people will forget about it next week anyway. And no, the movie isn't TERF or even cryptoterf, the goth girl is a they/them and one of the queens is apparently a TIM. Trannies have gone insane.
