And then, unrelated to the keyboard, but turning on that same laptop started to be a pain in the ass a few years later and I had to press the on/off key for up to 15min non stop to hope to make it work. That was the last straw so I waited for black friday sales and bought my current laptop for half its price. How do I get over shipping autism, like unironically. I don't get to the point it gives me breakdowns or anything but I do get so unreasonably upset when I see something related to a NOTP which is usually character-related (as in, "he would not fucking do that", "he would not fucking say that", etc).
It triggers a response in my brain that tries to rationalize why would someone (ship thing) but if I know the specific canon (of the thing) I just feel like someone's trying to force me to think 1+1=11.
This has always happened whenever I have a NOTP in whatever franchise I get into at a moment's notice. I'm not the type that insists on canon but at least I do wish that the character still felt like the original. Often I see that there's people who like a ship I don't and that's OK but when they ship a ship that I don't AND they just get lost in their own sauce that's when I get mad specially even more if the ship is a particular's character most popular ship.
This isn't even talking about western fandom because it happens in japanese fandom a lot too, in fact probably a lot more. Anyone that's been into KNY might have remembered the period where there was a ton of Tengen/Zenitsu that for the love of me I couldn't comprehend WHY it was a thing (this post isn't about them, but just something that came to mind).
By 'getting lost in their own sauce' meaning constant mischaracterizations, adopting 'popular' headcanons that have nothing to do with the character(s) in question, slowly forgetting their source material or actions to begin with that they start to morph into OCs, if a character is evil or unpleasant they just get woobiefied into a crying blorb, etc.
I know that people are often 'having fun' but if your fun happens at the expense of just not keeping the character consistent with their original personality what's even the point? Why not make OCs?

>>13235I completely understand you, I get so pissed at NOTPs especially when they're popular and undermine a character's characterization. I also don't really get the point of side pairings that just exist for people to smush two appealing designs together and completely neglect their interiority. Like Tengen/Zenitsu COULD be interesting because of how heterosexual they both are and what it would take to make them have any semblance of a romantic relationship, or even just a noncommittal sexual one. But people don't care about that they just care that Tengen's tall, big, charming and Zenitsu's a shaking afraid small pretty guy and treat them like a normal romcom couple. Which hey it's their prerogative but I find it frustrating, I don't ship two characters together just for the sake of seeing two males kiss, I would just consume BL manga of that was the case. I like their personalities and what it would take to have them be that consumed by each other, and the ways they would navigate their issues especially for the hyper-masculine guys who might be homophobic. I think a lot of people want a different experience with fandom, which you can tell by the amount of people who view canon as optional/look down on it and how they do their own thing with their friends while treating the characters as tropes. This is such a huge thing in danmei fandom because the novels are long asf and few have TV adaptions and even those that do have one has the og's storyline botched because of censorship, so people will read some of it or just read fanfic or even admit to skimming it and then think they have a leg to stand on when it comes to analysis of certain characters. If you ever figure out how to stop getting mad let me know lmao but it's such a huge issue, because again if I wanted fluffy non confrontational stuff I'd read actual BL manga which has wayyy better art and is more likely to be self-indulgent and not self-conscious or ironic like a lot of western works are when it comes to guilty pleasures.

Fiction and fantasy are seperate from reality, but it's hard for me personally to forget the fact that heterosexual sex is much much more vulnerable for the woman and rewarding for the man. And the fact that men are much stronger than women. You would have to present some very contrived circumstances for an adult woman to rape and physically abuse an adult, non-disabled man. I guess that BL appeals to partially because I can forget about the physically differences between men and women. It's equal in BL and GL.

I read some youtube comments under the trailer and it apparently is/was indicative of boarding school culture in that era, so that's plus for me since I like when movies capture a snapshot of a time and place.
No.13379
>>13377>is/was indicative of boarding school culture in that eraIt was an open secret, older boys abused/raped the younger boys and forced them into sexual acts. Those abused boys a few years later would do the same to the new classmates. I think the writers were less familiar with the context, because everyone was raping Gilbert cause he was so beautiful(even though they were all drawn the exact same way), whereas in reality it would have been a larger system.

Any proship community is full of children who will ship rape/incest with added pronoun bullshit to spite antis. Any non-proship community is full of adults who claim to be "normal" but lose their minds over father figure headcanons. It's always father figures.
I saw a post one time saying being an anti is the social default and after witnessing Capcom apologize for cousin incest in their fighting game, I see now that the terminally online by majority, are antis. I am not interested in fighting anyone about how I view fiction. I just want to read fanfiction or look at fan art of a pairing that have good mojo regardless of where they came from. I don't interact with the undertale fandom so I just found out by chance that apparently there's been discourse about the game only being available in english and japanese. I find this type of translation discourse interesting because I live in a country that's small and has an internationally irrelevant language so for me it was only natural that I'd learn english in order to consume more media. On some level it's probably petty for me to say this but I can't help but feel like a lot of these spanish speakers are being entitled when they try to bully an indie dev instead of just learning english. We live in an age where language apps and textbook pdfs are widely available, along with online communities where people could practice with each other. I saw a reply that went along the lines of "You had 9 years to work on a good translation" as if that person didn't have 9 years to learn english.
No.13443
>>13442I can sympathize with them as an English-speaker who has taken about 10 cumulative years of Spanish classes and has never been able to pick up the language even at a basic conversational level. A great-aunt I had lived in Japan for several years and taught English as a second language there but couldn't speak a lick of Japanese herself. None of my relatives have learned a second language despite most of us trying and I've just decided we must just have something that runs in our family that prevents us from picking them up.
Americans amirite? Wild Undertale doesn't have official translations given how big and successful it is. I can see a Spanish fanpatch exists so at least fans can play it that way. I also think one of the few good things that has come out of the AI boom is MTL improving tremendously which makes niche works (fanmade or otherwise) more accessible for everyone.

>>13442I don't really have any skin in the game since I speak English but I think the Spanish-speaking fanbase is annoyed because there are wayyy more of them than Japanese speaking fans but because Toby Fox is a huge weeb (even going as far to changing the way he speaks English online to be the way Japanese creators do kek) he's prioritized the JP fandom more. This whole thing started because he retweeted the JP localization of another game, and recommended this version of it in English to his followers. Someone on lc said it's because he'd like to have a great amount of control over the localization and he speaks JP well but SP not so much so he would be left in the dark. I do get not every language can be included even in best-selling games but cmon Toby is American where Spanish is the second biggest language, it's wild to me he's never floated the possibility.

It doesn't help that English is still the lingua franca of the internet so the list of valid excuses somebody in this situation has for not picking it up is pretty short. Like if there's a character A that's constantly paired up with character B, but you have people insisting that actually AxC is way better as a ship despite the characters having maybe two interactions in canon. I have to wonder if it's just yumes in disguise that feel threatened by the AxB ship because it could be "real", while they know the rarepair is made up and could never happen in canon. I strictly refuse to use discord. And on twitter I retweet so much art from so many different series and games that I don't see fans dedicated to something specific ever following me. My friends and I are very into BL but I feel like as time passed we don't really have the same interests anymore. We're not obsessed with the same manga, anime, games at all anymore, and even when it comes to BL they don't like the same stuff I like these days and read a shit ton of manhwa which I never read for no particular reasons other than not know where to start and having too many books to read already. There are also other personal and way worse reasons why I barely stay in touch with them anymore but I won't elaborate, it's not like I'm dumping my friends just because they don't want to play the same 120h long jprgs I like or something. You don't HAVE to join open servers, you can very much be in a small secluded server of like 5 people and use it like any other messaging method.
>And on twitter I retweet so much art from so many different series and games that I don't see fans dedicated to something specific ever following meDo you talk about anything in specific, or do you talk at all? You gotta talk at least just a bit to find someone who may care about what you say, even if no one like that exists.
If you don't like your current friends and want to meet other people, simply ditch your "old" identity and make yourself entirely brand new. Depending on what you're into, see what's there to be said or what YOU have to say, even if it's a dead fandom or not.

I'm not going to explain why that's the case irl so to keep this short it's people just judging me on how I look and assuming I'm a hardcore SJW, and online it's mostly because of the fandoms I joined and how batshit crazy all my online friends became on tumblr in 2014/2015
the straw that broke the camel's back for them was when Leelah Alcorn killed himself. My currently irl friends aren't any better. We met in uni, had a lot of things in common including hobbies but besides more personal things happening at some point, half of them became more distant simply because they're just as busy as I am with irl stuff like work, family, etc. and the other half turned into parodies of useless SJW neets that bring up JKR being transphobic literally out of nowhere while defending Nicki Minaj marrying a convincted rapist. I used discord with a few irl friends and online groups and I either had a hard time keeping up or the groups were dead. Something I've noticed with the rise of cuntboy is that the demographics of it are usually these kinds of people
>Pooners that somehow aren't dysphoric enough to have an aversion to vaginas
>Lesbians who 'like' yaoi but don't 'like' men so cuntboy is the closest to making 'guy yuri'
>Fake fujos who can't into anal sex because anal is gross and PIV is more natural
>Queerfags that just like anything that is woke and queer like trans HCs, chopped tits, straight up tits on a man, etc. but these are usually also TIFs
>Young fujos who have been moderately groomed by Pooners into accepting pussy in BL since "trans men are men too" therefore it's better if they have a pussy anyway
>TIF/Pooners with an aversion to dicks/anal because they were sexually abused
So it's usually mostly all trannies trying to convince fujos that cuntboy is a subset of "being trans". Hell, don't even say cuntboy because it's offensive! It's simply trans! You like trans men! Boypussy = trans!
And whatever else.
See, I don't really have an issue with cuntboy shit as long as people acknowledge it's a fetish quite frankly. Futafags have been doing so for decades and it's usually men admitting they like to see penetration, and if the dick is attached to another girl it doesn't matter and it's never some propaganda showcase about trans women being valid.
Cuntboy has existed for a very long time, for the better or worse, and when it's done by a non-westerner its simply straight up a fetish. If you want to draw pussy, do it but don't pretend it's anything more than a fetish.
I don't know why pooners don't even realize that they themselves are the ones spreading the fetishization of "trans men" by constantly referring to cuntboy shit as trans, and that it's ALWAYS used for sexual purposes? There are some fics where the supposed "transness" is relevant with the characters giving some speech about how it's ok to be trans and mentioning binders or chest scars, but majority of cuntboy stuff is literally any other PWP smut you'll see just that the guy happens to have a vagina and is always the bottom. Is that not some form of fetishization too?
No.13615
>>13614Personally, I don't really care whether it's trans or not. A man with a pussy is an oxymoron. Pussy has no place in yaoi, and piv will never be gay sex, I'm really tired of seeing it when I search for stories about gay sex. Pooners and the rest refuse to put their stories in M/F? Fine, let them have some other category, but don't put that shit in M/M, cause it's not yaoi and never will be, jusf as futa shit will never be yuri.

I never understand why they don't do cuntboy4cuntboy, I would respect them a little more if they did but it's always cuntboy4male. To me when it's both I can tolerate it and just control f to change the pronouns but I always know for the latter that they're self-inserting because they want to get fucked by the seme and I won't even click on the fic. They're also incapable of tagging uniformly because people won't admit it's cuntboy. A select few call it trans, a few call it intersex, but a lot of people will just say "character A w/ a pussy" or any variation of that and it's difficult to filter it out. I also don't get why these women don't just get into het ships. Clearly you DO like them more than you like m/m, the only thing I can think is that they get off on "degrading" one of the characters or that they're so averse to normal women that despite not liking anal they see all female characters as having their gender be their defining trait and thus are immediately turned off as "trans men". Slightly off topic but it reminds me of this delusional TIF I saw who said she only wanted male gynos because she was one of the dudes and wanted to be treated like one, and that by a female gyno she would be assumed to have stuff in common with her (oh the horror!). TIFs refuse to relate to women despite being them.

>>13614Imo it's pretty much just the TIF cult and poor nu-fujos that have been brainwashed by them into accepting cuntboy as a core part of BL (which it isn't and shouldn't be). I would bet that a lot of them either secretly don't like it or simply don't know better, but either way they're scared of getting cancelled for being transphobic.
I could in theory be more accepting of cuntboy if people actually gave tops or both character pussies, or if they still drew their canon selves (aka two guys with dicks) more often than cuntboy. However, what these people do is the exact opposite: the bottom must be a FTM tranny 100% of the time and this headcanon overwrites canon for them, and if you speak against it, you're a bigot.
>>13619They're full of shit most of the time, unless (in the very rare cases) they either 1) draw solo cuntboy stuff or 2) give both characters pussies. I'm grossed out by dicks irl and while I'm ok with seeing them in my BL, the last thing I want to see them near are pussies.
Somewhat related, but there's a lot of yuri artists that always make one of the characters a futa in nsfw art, and I don't understand the obsession with both penetration in general being the only way for characters to have sex, and also why they can't just make it a strap-on or a magic dick or something.

Maybe all the harassers deleted their posts to seem like they didn't do anything wrong?
>I cannot wait for the day that Japanese creators move to a platform that isn't a hotspot for the Western morality police.Plenty of them moved to bluesky in 2024 but stayed active on twitter at the same time for marketing reasons. >>13720One Room Angel already had a drama CD adaptation with the normal guy being voiced by Sugita iykyk, and then it had a live action adaptation, I doubt it will have an anime adaptation unless maybe it's a movie. In Harada's case, she's too well known for her really trashy manga, which means that if that were to happen somehow, tourists/fake fans would drop her like a hot potato way faster and will jump to straight up telling everyone she's a degenerate, with everyone else replying with "well, duh" or "omg thanks for warning me" early enough that they won't even try to infiltrate her fanbase. It's as always, just like I noticed on tumblr like 15 years ago, the more wholesome something is, the crazier and more demonic the fanbase will become. If a story is already crazy or trashy from the start the people who ruin fandoms and harass authors won't even try to start reading/watching it to begin with. The case with Syundei is like the exact opposite of what happened with Asada Nemui a few months ago, with her arguing with other fujoshi over whether BL manga should be censored and hidden in bookstores the same way straight hentai is, with her saying that women are far less likely to read yaoi and start abusing and raping men who watch porn so this shouldn't even be an argument and other fujoshi telling her she has the wrong opinion because then bookstores and publishing companies will hear normies complaining about yaoi covers in the middle of bookstores and will push for more censorship. Asada Nemui just didn't give a fuck and didn't mind the misandry accusations. This also reminds me of the JJK mangaka saying in an interview he doesn't use social media or he wouldn't be able to stop himself from arguing with everyone online.

No.13736
>>13735The people who harassed Syundei aren't the ones who ignore Yana Tobo, they're two different groups. They can't harass the artists you listed because they're too big to fail nowadays and they either never posted online ever or stopped doing it long ago except for marketing reasons. They're fulltime artists too. Syundei and other BL artists usually draw their manga part time and treat social media the way regular people use it, so that's different. That's why I made a comparison with Asada Nemui, who had a very different reaction to a similar situation, where it's obvious she was posting on her own account during her free time. If Black Butler started two years ago and the very first season started last week I bet western fake fans would have had a mental breakdown though and would have harassed her because she would have been easier to reach. She had her own blog long ago after all. The most they will say about the likes of Watsuki is things like "he's a bad person, so I will never read his manga" and that's it, they never target people like him and their coworkers, or even publishing companies in general, because it's too late or they're just lazy bums and sexist.

A man can get humiliated just fine by getting fucked by another dude, no pussies attached.
I think a lot of women should understand that having consensual happy sex with a man is not humiliation. Being straight isn't weird and wanting a fantasy romance between a man and a woman isn't either.

The problem that you specifically seem to be missing is that people can't separate these two things and lump them together. I don't want a character to have a pussy when I'm not looking for that. I think you're projecting the western trannoid TIFs that are common but in CN/KR circles (where cuntboy is most popular as a fetish) it's done simply for the fetish or because seeing a man lose his dick (status point) is interesting in that same vein of genderbent but still male. Yeah, you can be both but keep them seperate, bl has to have dicks attached to both, cb can do whatever it wants. The less I see it, the less I think about it, and the more I'm not going to question what exactly is behind adding a vagina to a guy. Plus if its a seperate genre, it can have room to grow into whatever it wants. Its a win win.

>>13810They're sperging not just because of the potential loss of income for Square Enix but also because if the official server was shut down by SE that means SE wanted everyone to stop playing and to move on, and you're going against the game developers' wish. They assume that higher ups in a company that oversees anything linked in finance and marketing and shut down servers to save a little bit of money and/or force players to buy and play the eventual rerelease or remake or remaster are advocating for artists and devs' wish to nuke a perfectly functional game. SE are a bunch of scammers and keep losing source codes for their most popular games like FF7 and FFT (and the remake was only possible thanks to some fan keeping a copy of the source code thanks to… piracy, who would have thought) fuck SE. Keep in mind that twitter is full of normalfags within Japan, you're a lot more likely to find opinions from Japanese normalfags who don't know how companies work and think the law is always just and moral. The same justice system leads to all sorts of bullshit like the stalker being released once again and killing his ex girlfriend in a Pokemon Center in Ikebukuro by the way. Or the same laws that lets Watsuki get away with a small fine with having so much CP at home cops thought he was a distributor. These Japanese normalfags really believe in the "you wouldn't download a car" argument kek.

>>13810>As if there's no secondhand game stores in japan where people can also obtain unsupported games without giving the company money. It's insane.I've tried to present this argument before and most of the replies to that usually say that it's less morally wrong because at least you're paying and not "stealing it"….but none of that money goes to the original company to begin with.
Another argument I've seen is
>well, you western pigs should've given money to the devs so the game wouldn't EoS but all you do is steal all the timeWhich equally as retarded, because a game EoSing is not entirely dependant on how much did people spend on it. This is SE we're talking about, they shut down shit all the time.
>>13812> you're a lot more likely to find opinions from Japanese normalfags who don't know how companies work and think the law is always just and moral. It comes from normalfags but also fans alike, I'd say that fans are usually the most bootlicking of them all. You genuinely cannot get a japanese person to understand that preservation != piracy, no matter what arguments exist against that belief and how many media gets saved due to preservation. "If something dies, then it dies" or "We must enjoy fleeting pleasures" is their motto. It's also why japan loves exclusive event shit, and god forbid you take a picture or video about it

Even if they understood that no profit is made by fans who put out older discountinued games they still didn't give a fuck.

I've let multiple people onto my steam account, so it's not even like the good needs to be physical or the borrower local. Piracy is just that cranked to a billion. >>13815What I've learned from this whole ordeal is that Japan really likes monkey as a racial insult, to the point they can't think of any other insults when trying to claim a foreigner was racist towards them.
Also what shitty timing that not just Japanese twitter but Asian BL twitter in general are discussing western piracy at the same time as the Syundei incident, and thus some BL authors are making this about "pirates are the disrespectful ones, we must shun and force out all who do not pay for our works." They have not taken well to replies trying to explain that the ones who bought works to support them already pirated and decided they liked it that much, or rather, the crazed nationalist accounts have jumped in and derailed it all by refusing to understand that concept. They are so remarkably skilled at not listening and putting words in people's mouths, it's incredible.

It's hot garbage that will show you a handful of what you actually searched for and a flood of random bullshit text posts, sorting by new does nothing, and you can only go back so far in a tag. If all you want to do is post or follow people and you find a proshipping pocket of your fandom where there aren't any antis, you can give it a go, but the site is fucked in other ways too depending on your browser. I was dealing with annoying popups I couldn't get rid of, not even being able to log in unless I did some convoluted shit, and the site just breaking if I scrolled.
Maybe there are some new fan xkit type scripts to fix some of this shit now, I don't know.
