Life's not fair, especially for fujoshi, and even more so for fujoshi exclusively attracted to males. Post your frustrations and things that are on your mind, no matter how harsh it sounds, about advantages everyone else has that fujoshi don't get.

For example, there's been a lot of indie anime clothing/anime streetwear brands that just slap a generic picture of an anime girl OC, throw it on a store, and make 6 figures. Why don't they have some shirts with cute anime boys on them? Why aren't there clothing brands out there that have generic anime boy "OCs" on that look like every other black/brown-haired protagonist on them? Why aren't there more yaoi-related clothing other than a generic snapback that says "YAOI" on it? How come there's hentai and yuri related clothing and merch in abundance, but finding anything BL related is like finding a needle in a haystack?

I was hesitant at first when I got into an underaged/non-underaged ship myself but in the end I know that I'm a rational adult who knows the difference between reality and fiction and just because I enjoy dark dove content in media that doesn't mean I approve of it IRL. It's like how I'm into true crime as well and I follow podcasters who are into true crime. Me and the podcasters find murderers and cults interesting but that doesn't mean we will commit any crimes ourselves.

 No.4097

>>4095
To me the key difference is that when fujos do it it's always in shipping form. You aren't gooning to solo content of this young character and imagining yourself, you are shipping him with an older adult in their universe. The way men treat underage female characters is almost NEVER in the framework of her/another canon character. I have one teen/adult ship and a few teen/teen ships and it has never given me pause because they are ships. They would not be hot to me without the scaffolding of the canon world and the plot/dynamics therein. Worrying about it at all is letting fancops win.

 No.4098

>>4097
Sometimes I do like solo content. Anons here post that sort of thing all the time, so I'm not sure this distinction is real. Many fujos have their favorite uke they are obsessed with, and repeating patterns in ships with the same age gap could be seen in a certain light.
I guess at least what reading >>4096 reminded me of is that most women in fandom like this content. The ones who have big loud issues with it often end up folding down the line or having cases they make exceptions because they end up liking a certain pairing or character. So I think it's "normal," but I still get very uneasy in my thoughts about it when other people moralize, even though those people have exceptions as well. It somewhat helps to think this way, even though it's not a strong enough dismissal of my fears. I've been liking these uke characters a lot lately and I can't help feeling like a pervert or worse for that, even if I have no interest in being with someone like that irl.

I think something important to keep in mind is that anime and cartoon characters look and act nothing like real people, underage or otherwise

Fearing a thought and fearing call outs from self-acclaimed internet cops are two different things. I casually worry about the latter, but not the first when it's about 2D.
It's fiction. It's a fantastical virtual playground in which you can be what you want and like whatever you feel like liking. I love fictional dictators, love exploring their personality and issues and wish they could be the MC. Thankfully I hate dictators irl, so there is no real connection since the first are rather symbols for certain human traits rather than humans.
It's what >>4100 said. 2D characters do look very different from real people, not even in the "n'est pas une pipe" way, but even conceptually. They also don't behave like real people since they are idealized, simplified etc. This is why we are attracted to fictional characters in the first place. They aren't as multifaced, contradictory and materialist as actual humans usually are.

I believe that what's attractive about fictional characters is primarily what we project into them to make them whole, since they rarely written as such. It's different from attraction to real people IMO. Same as being into a dragon man doesn't mean that you want to fuck reptiles irl.

I like both underage solo content and shipping and I can understand that being told that you're immoral or a predator for liking it can cause you to question your attraction to real humans. You just need to remember that before people in your circle spoke negativly about it you did not think you could possibly be attracted to someone underaged. So don't let them influence your thoughts anon ♥

On a related note, I sometimes see the japanese refer to real children as shotas. My guess is that 'shota' doesn't by default have a sexual connotation in japan. I usually avoid anti/pro shota discussion and ignore pedo allegations but it does make me wonder if the anti shota people might have a point somewhere.

 No.4118

>>4115
Fuck, I've noticed those lines blurring in their culture too. Seeing shit like that makes it worse. I think antis have some points lately and that's what's fucking with my mind.
Thanks anons. I'm overthinking this so much that while the points about 2d's appeal being its difference from 3d are (partly) true, it's not enough either. I won't go into why because it's elaborate and overall this issue seems bigger than solely a fujo context in the end. It's a massive mindfuck and it's upsetting but the crazy thing is men just admit this about themselves and don't care. It's been the historical norm and no one cared but it makes me sick because obviously it shouldn't be. It's harmful.
I'm starting to almost agree with antis but I think they all have, or will amass, skeletons in their closet too. It happens without fail they find some ship or character. I believe no one is immune to crossing this line in fiction but I'm scared what that means about real life. Because I do find certain things suspicious, if a man likes it in fiction or if it's something I draw the line at (animals for ex.) so why am I such a hypocrite? It's fucking me up to say the least, but this
>You just need to remember that before people in your circle spoke negativly about it you did not think you could possibly be
is something I'll remind myself to try and calm it. I know I'm even at this point because I'm mentally ill lol
Maybe the answer is: humans are messy and fucked up but as long as you're not seeking it in 3d you can chill out? I never trust men to do that though…

Anon that's just your paranoia speaking.
Do you, yourself, believe that you are capable of comitting a crime? If not, then don't cave in to paranoia induced by 'what ifs'. If you know yourself what you like, what you don't, and what you can do, it doesn't matter if you liked that one fic of some dude getting fucked by a horse cock or that one shota rape fic. It's not real.

So depressing being a fujo into figure collecting
we get like maybe one NSFW figure a year (and that's really lucky rare and if we do) and then have moids gaslighting us saying 'IT WOULD TOTALLY BIN THOUGH' despite NSFW male figures being sought after as fuck to the point where people actually buy those hideous unlicensed resin figures (I wouldn't though because they look like shit).

Anon, remember one thing. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. If you've never seriously wished for contact with kids, there is pretty much no chance you'll harm anyone. You know this, deep down. Remember that men are quite different when it comes to relating to fiction/porn, many can separate the two but there are also many, many men who cross the line because that's just how male sexuality is. If it helps, i can tell you about the one woman i know who has actually abused children, she's not a shotacon or even interested in fictional children in general, but she is extremely troubled and erratic (common thing among female offenders). 'Discreet pervert fujo who likes pretty underage bishies' doesn't fit the female offender profile in my experience. Yeah some can be creepy like hardcore proships but it often comes down to their retarded circles and they would likely be much more normal if they went offline (the same thing cannot be said of male lolicons or troons).
If it ever gets worse, take a break from SNS or exposure to media that could trigger this spiralling. It will get better and you'll be able to get past this, once you cut off the source of your rumination and remind yourself it's all bullshit.

Even luckier if it's not Nitro+Chiral related. And I don't even dislike those, I would love to own Kau but don't want to forfeit my wallet for him.

Also the Japanese are notorious for not catering to untapped markets. So yes they would ignore women's taste despite there being a clear demand. It's why there are 56134464337 competing boobie lady gacha games despite female targeted works clearly having the potential to make bank with less competition. They are too set in their ways to deviate from the "norm".

Curious, what figure were these comments under?

I can't seem to find other English speaking Charisma fans who are in my age range. I knew just looking at the series that it would attract 15-year-old girls, and I was honestly surprised when I finally watched it that I enjoyed it as much as I did. The Korean and Japanese fandom are great and I love the jokes and the sudden serious fanart. Every time I look at the English speaking side though, even if they are over 18 they're very clearly in generations with different cultures. Stuff like making references to kids web games that came out when I was already in college, or having webpages with DNIs and sparkly YAS QUEEN SLAY gifs of Enstars boys. Their jokes tend to get the characters' personalities wrong too, the humor is just slightly off for me and it's jarring.

I've been trying to shill the series to people in other fandoms who are closer to my age (late 20s, early 30s), but I keep meeting the same barrier. "This web drama is an idol series because there are occasional songs and that automatically makes it worthless." "I don't know how to watch this subtitled Youtube playlist you've just given me." "I don't like music existing." "That's too many episodes because I waited until season 2 finished." "Maybe I'll do it later, I don't have time for this two minute long episode." "Gross, they have eyebrows." "Anything with colored hair is bad." "Japanese comedy is too Japanese for me, I don't get it." "It looks cringe."

Look, I get it, I thought I'd hate all of the characters when I looked at their designs and read the blurbs on their personalities. I especially thought I'd hate Kei and Terra but I've come away loving everyone, buying the CDs, blasting the dumbest shit, and downloading over a hundred pictures of retarded four legged whatever the fuck those things are. I want to sharespam art with someone and make fun of these idiots in ways that only fans would understand, because just trying to explain on a surface level doesn't work for a character driven comedy.

 No.4169

>>4168
But all the people I see actually talking about it are kids, like they're the only ones who've figured out you can open youtube. And they really make me want to distance myself from Iori and Ohse because of course they flock to the crazy slut and the suicidal one, but there's nothing wrong with the characters in canon, they're great and I love that they'll fucking fight if left together because it's a good example of how their personalities are not what I expected from the profiles. None of these characters are one sided pushovers, all of them interact with each other in different ways so shipping them has so many unique combos. Walking into the eastern fandom is like a buffet and I have no idea how to pick just one dish.

The merch situation is pretty shit. There's no denying that, even fans in JP and KR are complaining about the limited sales. You can't buy DVDs and keyrings without going to a specific popup or the official website, even the three(?) manga series aren't actually in print from regular booksellers. I don't understand how they're surviving like this when the series itself is completely free to watch and the only way to pay for it is ordering the CDs. Please tell me the concert made enough money for S3. People are starting to get anxious in KR fandom because recently they've started adding subtitles and updates in English and Korean, and not all of it is MTL either. They're spending money on giving us this and aren't even selling stock to major retailers. What the hell.

Anyway I know someone posted Charisma here before, and I don't expect to have full fledged fandom conversations here but hello! I hope you're not also stuck in the post S2 limbo with no one to talk to. I wish I could afford the stage plays.

Aah, I can't post the video I wanted to because twitter suddenly went down. Have a flipnote summary of S2 then.

I haven't personally seen it yet, but I have steered myself out whenever I walk into the western fan accounts. I suppose people would target Terra, but even if you wanted to be gendery on him, it would be more accurate to his character to say he's "nonbinary". The reason they could say that is because he believes himself so beautiful that he is a unique entity and can make any clothing look good on himself including dresses. He doesn't deny being male or claim any gender, but he does declare himself Terra. Which makes a good example of what I mean by "slightly off" - if I were to joke about him being genderless I'd play up the third person thing as though Terra is a race or thing of its own, because that's essentially where it's going. Not a mere man but Terra! Terra is Terra! But if you make it about trying to be another gender or avoiding using gendered anythings, like a gender repulses him in some way, that'd just be missing the whole point. He escaped judgement and self consciousness by being whatever a Terra is as ordained by the council of Terra who all praise Terra. The identity his family wants of him isn't "a man", it's a son who conforms to formality and bowing to others.

Also the designer very specifically keeps his shoulders and slim straight sides in all his looks. She's very good at masculine appeal.

And if, god forbid, they go after Iori because he dresses as a prostitute once: young men dressing as women is classic lewdity in the sex trade. Get some fucking taste and understand what contrast is. (Hehe, you can't say shit on Rikai's magical girl transformation because it's literally called Justice Boy)

Sorry, I just used you to go on a rant, but I've never had an opportunity to discuss Terra. Or anything.

Am I just going insane, but why does it feel like shipping has…lost being special?
I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like strong passion over a ship and why you love it has become less important and relevant, in favor of just simply "I think they're hot"/"idk I just like it" fast consumption of shipping.
That, or it just becomes something to be ridiculed or mocked. Sure, I can imagine that some people's reaching as to why a certain ship are destined to be together lies on "proof" and the proof being them standing together can be silly, but I just have a bit more understanding to that sort of cringyness devotion more than anything.
At least, I value the people who can go on and on and on and on and on about their OTP for hours on end rather than the people who just mindlessly consume what others do, unable to form any thoughts themselves, just simply observing others and having that interest be "frozen".
But the former type of person is becoming exceedingly rare, while the latter is the overwhelming majority.
Maybe I'm just not in the right spaces?
Coupled with the increased attachment to headcanonization of characters, media and ships, people slowly forget what they even liked to begin with or if they truly liked it at all and just the imaginary version they created.
It's not like there aren't headcanons that just increase the amount of love you put into a ship as we can all be delusional, but you know what i'm talking about.
Is it just a me thing?

 No.4173

>>4172
You might not be in the right spaces, although I completely get what you mean by the "imaginary version" taking over in some fandoms. It sucks going to a ship tag, seeing a big number, then slowly realizing as you scroll that you are mostly looking at OCs skinwalking as your ship.

I've seen some talk on Twitter about how it's kind of scary now to be that openly into a ship because there's a chance you'll get dogpiled by children/antis with nothing better to do. Some people who ship might actively be curtailing the intensity of their public love to avoid this. I think that until a website that is specifically for fandom exists (and has a team of moderators who understand how unrestrained antis kill creative willpower, even for things as simple as public discussion) it's just gonna be like this.

This. I'm a multishipper who will nibble a bit of everything with a few exceptions here and there, but if given a limelight I can and will write an essay on how the dynamic works and what they do for each other. The problem is that fandom has shifted, either being too talkative is "cringe" and frowned upon, or you put yourself in the view of children with irksome takes. Whichever one I lost my confidence in typing these things in the open under a name. I'll word vomit to people on discord if I know them well enough, but otherwise I'm scared of rejection these days. My tweets have been private for years because whenever I tried to write at length I'd get "ackshually no, bcuz (real world thing not discussed in the series)", and I stopped on tumblr before that because mutuals kept telling me I was "just headcanoning" and my OTP was "not that well written". I'm happy in my own head without someone stomping on it, it's lonely but I don't have the mortifying humiliation of being reminded I'm the only one thinking a nine hour long epic about these two dudes being married princes or whatever. I can just collect fanart from other countries that share my sentiments and while the hours away.

No, you're not. Not just ships, but whole fandoms are all flavor of the month nowadays. It sucks. A big motivation for me to sit down and get into a new thing is the promise of fanworks and I haven't been trying new things for a long time. Everyone just moves to the same handful of series and makes content for validation rather than out of love for the original. It's so shallow and bleak.

I'm definitely the devoted, go on and and on type too. I'm too embarrassed to act on it and I constantly worry that someone from the old days will find me though. Japanese fujos, on the other hand, have a single-minded focus on their obscure, ancient ship with no shame. It's beautiful. I'm so jealous.

It seems like variations of this topic come up all the time. (no one truly loving the ship they write, the ridiculous aus and "headcanons", etc) I've typed up half-finished replies like this a few times before. We should probably have a thread for it.

>>4174
My mutuals seemed to like my ship crying, at least the ones that I shared it with more. That was years ago during tumblr's peak though. I was at a small anime artist's con yesterday where people would sell their stuff. I had a lot of fun and bought plenty of stuff (only 2 yaoi related items tho cuz I didn't really see that much). What made me sad was seeing how much gender brainrot still persist, clearly feminine young women calling themselves male or using made up pronouns in a language where gender neutrality doesn't exist. I only saw one TIM but TIFs were plenty, they make me so sad because deep down that's just a nerdy woman who hates herself. Seeing or hearing girls say "amix" or "amiges" or stuff like that is very gross. When will the gender fad end? I don't wanna see tranny flags at artist booths, I don't wanna see fujos not call themselves that because they fear hurting the feelings of gendies, I don't wanna see my cute yaoi boys with scars on their chest.

Nothing serious but goddamn, I have such a massive urge to talk about whatever my current fandom related obsession are but I don't have any fujo friends in real life anymore and there is no real place to sperg about it. Even /a/ is slow as hell, not even a shadow of its former glory.

My last resort would be discords, but I have one (1) fandom that is popular for a discord but even then I only find semi-active places. And the few users that are always posting are usually all over some shit I don't like, it's usually not even canon related.
I miss my teenage so much when I could talk about my interests and we would come up with cool What If-AUs together, draw and search for fan shrines with great fanart.

Hell I talked about /a/, but I honestly feel more and more like the internet as a whole is deserted. Maybe I am legit shizo because that shouldn't be the case. It started to decline everywhere after 2016 I feel, with 2019 or so and 2021 experiencing the most extreme slowdown. My experience with this is anecdotal, but I know a lot of people who are still "online" from the 00s (a mix of fandom types and gamers) and they've largely retreated into private communities, whether it be MMO guilds, group DMs, or discords. The events of the last 15 years have made it increasingly tiresome to exist in public online spaces as some flavor for nerd. The pool of people with an online life went from "dorks with a PC in their home" to "everybody" and our ability to organically mingle has suffered irreparably because of it. There is some comfort in that I know it happened to every community instead of just being yet another fujo-exclusive problem, lol.

That's certainly how it is for me. I'm 31 and have been on the internet from around the age of 12/13-ish and while I do have a twitter account where I follow and retweet fan artists I spend most of my time socialising on specialised discord servers for FFXIV and a handful of artist-owned and streamer servers. While discord is terrible for preserving information, on some level it does remind me of old internet fan forums cause they're so specialised and close-knit as opposed to how a platform like twitter is so open and stuff can accidentally just fly out of your intended circles and cause weirdos to gang up on you.

Same. As someone who's been online since the early 00's, I simply withdrew into closed-off discord communities with friends I made via fandoms and hobbies. I don't use social media anymore because it's exhausting when you get all sorts of strangers harassing you and taking what you said out of context or digging up shit you said literally years ago to turn it against you. Twitter is filled with bots and children, Instagram allows no conversation or interaction, Threads is for normies, Bluesky is a bugged mess (and nobody posts there anyway), Facebook is dead, forums don't exist anymore. Discord is the only place where you can actually talk with fellow nerds but you need to dig through a lot of shit to find the servers that are worth staying at, and the comfiest ones are usually invite-only so you have to know someone on the inside to get a good word in. I feel safer being with people who know me well enough to trust my company with. I really wish fandom and hobby based forums would make a comeback in the following years because centralized social media is like poison to creativity and kinship.

I don't care if it's original art/fiction but when I go to the ship tag I'm not looking for PIV.

Imo a chunk are people who don't like anime and especially don't like any female anime characters trying really hard to fit in with anime being trendy and making cuntboy ocs and shtty aus in order to cope with the larp. If anime wasn't popular they'd be reading bodice rippers instead.

God I relate so much. Its another hell being an artist that makes fixed content only for people to pressure you into drawing cuntboy since its the "popular hc!!!" or switch since you still draw the dick on both characters…

The worst part is you can't even say you dislike it without people getting "transphobic vibes" from you even though it's just a fetish like anything else and most people aren't writing boypussy with a trans headcanon in mind. I even saw someone say if you headcanon a male character as bisexual you should be fine with cuntboy and full on M/F genderbend content too. These people are delusional and I've seen it comijg from the proshipper "don't like don't read or harass/police people over their preferences!" camp as well. Fucking hypocrites.

I've never seen a fandom almost nearly exclusively draw cuntboy and don't even tag it as much as the tristamp fandom does. Not a single second goes that you can open any pic of vash, anywhere, and it'll be some implied trans garbage or 'subtle' trans shit (like some dialogue mentioning periods or whatever)
It's really fucking weird. I wouldn't mind cuntboy if it was treated the same as futanari and some japanese artists still do that, but if you ever see some anything gender-change related on fujo fandoms almost anyone is going to say it's trans.
Only a few delusional trannies call futanari trans, and most of them obviously do it for the porn. Why can't some fujos actually admit they like it for the fetish and it was never some trans pride thing?

I usually don't encounter cuntboy/herm stuff as long as I read about humans. But the moment it's anything else it's ubiquitous.
As someone who is into Transformers I noticed the shift happening in 2016. Or that was at least when it became the mainstream in the non-human 2D guy spaces I frequent. You can still find fics of my favorite pairing having normal gay sex and cable sex in early 2016/late 2015 and after that it's all hermaphrodites. I admit that I prefer herms over outright cuntboys though, they at least keep the dick and can top and bottom properly.

Pure cuntboy is too much for me. Like I don't even condemn it, but it's a specific fetish like classic futa to me and should be treated and tagged as such.
>the tristamp fandom
So.. are there just no dicks at all? Vash cannot dick anybody? That would be sad. I actually like Trigun (all of it). I am not surprised that some would headcanon this, but why is it everybody? And why do they even take away the DICKS? And yeah I fully agree about the performative bullshit about it. It's obvious that it's a fetish, pretending to engage in porn for moral reasons/wokeness is so stupid and such an obvious lie lol just admit that you enjoy it for sultry reasons holy damn

I know Homestuck fandom had the trolls with alien dick and vag but it kind of made sense for them based on the vague canon description of their genitals. At the time I didn't really care and I still don't mind dual genitalia on non human guys as long as it's not literally a human vagina (I'll make an exception for angelboys I guess). I'm not into Transformers but with robot guys I always preferred wireplay or other methods over robodick or robovag.

There's an artist in the FFXIV fandom who draws tons of shipping art for a pairing that I've recently gotten obsessed with, MC x Erenville, and it's so disappointing that this person felt the need to put a pussy on Erenville. Thankfully the NSFW art is hidden behind a separate link and the artist doesn't draw those ugly zippertits scars but it's still a shame when people un-BL a BL ship.

I’m hyperfixated on certain characters but they never met and I have no idea which plot to have with them beyond just having sex.

I think this has probably been discussed here before, but I HATE when a series has a completely all male cast, or a mostly all male cast, and people bitch constantly, asking for female characters, particularly in anime/manga I mean. There are so fucking many harem series with hundreds of shitty loli characters and people don't even bat an eye, but one shitty anime phone game has an all male cast and it's the wailing and gnashing of teeth. "When will you add women characters!!!" Hopefully never.
I don't side with my yumejo sister's a lot, but if there's one things I will stand together with yumejos on, it's this fight against adding women characters to shit that's only meant to be filled with hot men and boys. If I wanted a series with good women characters, I would go find one. Why do my sexy male characters have to be accompanied by female counterparts? I don't need it, and I'm not afraid to say it.
Pic not rel.

I hate how female socialization causes so many women/fujos to overanalyze the morality of fiction and develop massive guilt complexes in general, as if fujos are going to go out and rape gay men. If you hate this manhwa that much, why are you in the comments of chapter 25 writing paragraphs about how wrong and evil the author is? You know you can just close the tab? You obviously want to read it, but you feel like you can't without virtue signaling to random strangers on the internet. Sad.
