What's y'alls favorite BL VNs company ? N+C, Pill/Slash, Parade, Adelta, Holicworks, etc. ?

Still alive, time to get back in the groove of playing BLVNs.
Tonight I played 3 Lines of a Delta which was a short English VN that just came out, it says it has a play time of 3 hours but I finished it in 2.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4310100/3_Lines_of_A_Delta/This one has some cute CGs and a few moments of nice presentation but the story lost me half-way through. The game opens with a cutscene explaining that the two leads had a falling out including a CG of one standing over a body, so my assumption was it was going to be horror. The game then flashes back to show you how they got there, and then once that is solved there is a light mystery plot. The first act was great but once that was over I just wasn't invested anymore. Probably a 3/5.

babcia would be thrilled about her grandson being a homo. Thanks for the review - these indie gaymes hardly get a spotlight, so it's hard to know which ones to avoid.

Tonight's game is "A Story Told by the Stars"
Free on Itch
https://aurum-lingua-games.itch.io/a-story-told-by-the-starsThe art in this one is rough, it's also ESL, despite that I didn't hate it, though it's very amateur. The main issue is actually that the game has too much plot for it's small 1hour-ish runtime. It is segmented by constellations that you connect (second image) and after completing them you get a small story. The first half has the two leads at a sci-fi bootcamp of some kind. Nothing is explained in-depth except the MC's family are famous politicians and the other kid is a problem child. Most of it is short snippets of a developing romance and then around the 7th constellation it introduces a political thriller plot but the lack of prior worldbuilding doesn't support it enough to make it meaningful.
Don't want to rag too hard, it reeks of "first game ever" and there is some interactive bits like the constellations.

While browsing twitter I saw that an indie dev uploaded a BL game to a website called novelgame. As far as I can tell it seems to be a japanese equivalent to itch.io where indie devs can upload their projects and you can play them in your browser. There's built-in functionality to play games with a machine translation but you're better off just using this site to practice your japanese.

>>6514Can baka gaijins post their games here too, if it's in Japanese? Itch's policies on underage/noncon/incest etc… make trying to find somewhere to post right now a giant pain and if I have to make a bad attempt at translation then so be it.

Thought this thread was safe from anti-MTL weirdos when people discussed above MTL'ing Shingakkou and nobody cared but I guess their parents must've allowed them access to the internet again. What a weird to get pressed on about anyway, I can't imagine getting worked up if people used even a badly translation tool to read something in my language, especially if it's literally just a porn game, like that sounds so embarrassing.
No.6524
>>6523>t I guess their parents must've allowed them access to the internet again.Amazing how “anti-MTL weirdos” apparently just means people who can actually read the language instead of letting an algorithm hallucinate through a porn game.
No.6525
>>6523>f it's literally just a porn game, Why do people use this argument, it makes you sound like a moid. Most BL VN are story focused unless you're reading a nukige. "It has porn so it's bad" makes you look like a moral tumblr guardian.
No.6526
Ooohhh you're so speeecial by mastering the human construct called language :ooo. Good boy do u want a cookie??? uwu
No.6527
>>6526>Ooohhh you're so speeecial by mastering the human construct called language :ooo. Thanks. Not everyone can do that, which is why MTL slop has an audience. I’m more fascinated by the people whose standards are low enough to enjoy dialogue that reads like a stroke transcript.
No.6528
>>6525Who said porn's bad ? Are you that insecure over reading sex scenes ? People could use MTL story focussed stories with porn written in my language I wouldn't get bent over it, but I guess I don't feel the need to overinflate my ego cause I learned a language just to play video games.

Ohhhh so that's why I don't enjoy talking to you mwah
No.6530
>>6528You said "literally a porn" game. Only moids talk like that. Most BL VN are strong stories, why would dismiss them like that? They are not different from books. I don't think a sex scene devaluates the game and makes it "just a porn game"

No.6537
>>6536>Pretty sure actual moid behaviour is being ashamed of reading porn and acting like a pick me over it, so this whole convo reads like projection.Jesus Christ. No wonder you people settle for machine-translated VNs, you can’t even follow your own writing once it’s in English. And yes, ‘literally just’ is reductive, as if that nuance matters to you in the first place.
No.6538
Starting a whole pick me debate about nuance in video games over a screenshot where the only lines shown were the character's moans during a sex scene, that's how embarrassing y'alls look like.
No.6539
Honestly I prefer real translations of course, but I like that machine translations are far enough along that you can translate stuff yourself and it won't be nonsense. It's especially great for doujin, but I'll take it for VNs as well.
Such a weird thing to get uppity about someone using. Especially
>>6522 I'm at the point in my life where I'm not going to learn Japanese, I've accepted it, I acknowledge it's inferior to a real product, but I'll take it over nothing.
No.6540
>>6539Fr. I don't think that using MTL to play a game and studying Japanese is mutually exclusive either. I was the girl above talking about playing Shingakkou, and I genuinely meant it when I said that I felt my Japanese was improving through it.
What I did was set Lunatranslator so that the translation itself was toggled by a single key. Every new line, I would read it in Japanese, aided by Luna's furigana and one-click word lookup. Then I would toggle the translation to compare my understanding to two seperate MTL ones. You can see the set up here.
>>6415After a certain point, I stopped having to use the MTL even half the time and was able to read a lot of the game fluidly. The MTL tools not only made the game accessible to my friend who had no interest in learning Japanese herself, but also had incredible use to me, who was actively studying.
The MTL wasn't always accurate so of course it is inferior to a human led translation, but it has come a long way in the past ten years so of course more people are going to be using it now.
But speaking of Shingakkou, I've had to put the game off for now since work picked up, but in about a week or two I should have a few weeks off and am excited to dive back in. I originally wanted to do Leonid after Neil, but now I think I'll do Cecil next and save Leonid as a special treat after the fact. My friend didn't care for Cecil as a character at all, but swore up and down his route was great even despite that.

Weird one tonight "At First Sight"
Free on itch, about 20 minutes.
https://bobcgames.itch.io/afsThis one is about soulmates featuring a 40 year old bitter man named Grimes who is disillusioned with the whole ordeal. Grimes has dreams about meeting his soulmate at a bar and after pressure from a coworker he goes and finds out his soulmate is not a pretty woman but two men. There are 3 possible endings, in the "good" one your character reaffirms that he is totally straight but he moves in with them and gets off on watching the two men fuck.
I felt like I wasn't the target audience for it, but the game did make me laugh with how "no homo" the MC was.
>>6540Oh yeah I remember you, congrats on improving your Japanese! I remember thinking I was going to try and get Luna set up and then it just fell out of my mind as life got busy, I should look into it again.

>>6540>My friend didn't care for Cecil as a character at all, but swore up and down his route was great even despite that. All the routes in sngk are special like that. I like that it doesn’t rely on tropes for its characters. It made everyone feel like real people. It even got me to care about side characters like Jack.
