The siscon is cute… but he is a siscon. Hopefully will become a long term ally and then I'll get more invested. So far it's been enjayable even without shipping so I really don't care either way how it will go.

Of all the boys I think Motsuo is most likely to be gay though. There's at least one other 'BL' chapter but for the life of me I can not find it.

I'm not sure why Embers seems to be flaming out with the readers. Is the soccer niche just too dominated by Blue Lock? I was hoping we could get some good fujo potential with Star of Beethoven but I dunno anymore. Yaso and his rival is the obvious choice, and I was hoping we'd see more composers show up so I could ship something like Beethoven/Bach but the manga isn't ranking well and the mangaka seems to be doing a soft harem kind of thing for Yaso. I actually like the girls but the mangaka would be fumbling such an obvious save by declining to cater to fujos when the opportunity is right there and so obvious.

I absolutely adore the manga, but World-Destroyer feels very endgame to me, so I can't see much development to their chemistry beyond these pages. As in, we've only see a bit of what the villain is about, and from then onwards, he'll only pop in once in a blue moon until the final showdown. And personally, I want them to interact more often to ship them.

I actually enjoy Kumugi's crush on Ichi but Ichi himself doesn't reciprocate that interest meanwhile he has these really fun interactions with Hater and Gokuraku where they seem to be exchanging the same energy.

Yeah, that's what sucks about Final Boss/Main Villain to Lovers. The manga is hard to predict though (a month ago many were convinced we were entering a Hogwarts phase) so I'm still hopeful World Hater won't be put on a bus permanently and maybe drop by to genocide a city every arc and have tea with Ichi. I can see the search for World Hater's weakness take a dozen encounters before Ichi finds it.

I want to thank Nishi for not going through this decision. My favourite series tend to emphasize exploration over a (usually) mundane setting that's been done to death. I despise how often school settings are used in manga. Hated it as a teen, hate it now as an adult.

But anyways, you're right that World-Destroyer can make another appearance sometime soon, if picrel are anything to go off of. It's as if he's a looming presence that the story itself is eagerly waiting to reappear. And if that's the case, I might ship him with Ichi.

In cases any nonas here haven't you should definitely read Kagurabachi. The lead, Chihiro, is trying to avenge his father's death and reacquire the 6 magic blades his father forged. The lead is very likable, the worldbuilding is getting interesting and the paneling and action is great. From a fujo perspective there's a lot to like too as the cast skews male (there are female characters and they aren't oversexualized either). Just gonna share my thoughts on various popular fujoships I like so other nonas can comment or feel compelled to read the manga:

Such a no brainer. Yeah I know Kuni had a female LI once but she isn't in the picture so it's been him and his kid and his handsome best friend regularly popping in. They're both hot so they could have gotten with a lady if they wanted to, but they didn't. I can live with Shiba having had a female LI in his past but I'll be bummed out if he gets a female romance going forward unless it's like, Hinao, just because I'd like to see more of her.
>Shiba/Chihiro
I like their dynamic I just dislike how most fan content makes Shiba the top when he's clearly been subordinate to Chihiro this whole time. Now that Char is there Shiba could totally pass for her dad so I hope we can get some nice family scenes with Shiba, Chihiro and Char as the daughteru.

Fucking loved this one and I'm sad at how it turned out. I gave up hope . . . fortunately they have a ton of really good fanfic. Sojo seems like a power bottom to me.

For whatever reason it's not my fav but it's very popular and it's easy to see why. They have fun chemistry and the mangaka likes to feed his fujo fans. They look good together too with their complementary color schemes. It's very sweet. I hope we get a good angst scene once Hakuri and Chihiro reunite. IMO the most interesting thing about their interactions is how they're both just a little too off-kilter to truly heal each other so it can easily go unintentionally toxic but there isn't much fan content that likes exploring that.

I didn't like this on a serious level but they have great art. It ended badly so it's hard for me to stay invested in their dynamic. There's fic here and there but less than you'd expect, seems like newgen fujos aren't as into stuff like this or if they are they are worried about getting harassed. It seems like such a classic fujoship with the brocon elements and size gap so I'm a bit surprised.

I 'like this' insofar as I dislike Hiruhiko and like seeing Chihiro school him and put him in his place.

There's a lot of fan content despite the manga not having an anime. Lots of fanart and a good amount of fanfic without feeling overwhelming may as well jump in before anime-onlies join in. Personally I prefer Chihiro as the top, he's the fandom bike either way.

He doesn't, but he's so important to the story and setting that there are tons of flashbacks with him that further flesh out him and the other older cast members.

I say you should at least finish the first arc (up to chapter 18) before deciding to drop it. The best character in the series is the MC, so if you don't like him you probably won't like the manga. He's a good boy he just looks a little edgy.

In my ideal world the anime gets a bunch of 2000s era filler near the start where we could see more of Chihiro and Shiba working together before they meet Char. There's so much that could be done with Shiba, he's definitely underutilized. I hope the anime does manage to get some filler in there. I want to see how Shiba handled Char and Hakuri moving in so suddenly.

Yeah I really want filler for the anime. Even small additions like at the end of JJK s1 episodes would be nice. Chihiro and Shiba working together before main story starts, Hakuri adjusting to living with the team before Rakuzaichi, maybe some extra content for blade wielders/kamunabi members.

Hiruhiko is just OK to me. I feel like he hasn't exactly earned the feelings the mangaka wants his audience to have about him. He's too cocky to have failed so often and his position in the story feels like an imposition as opposed to natural development. But I don't hate him either, I think he needs a character who he has believable chemistry with. So far that isn't Chihiro. But he has a cool design so I am not writing him off yet.

I don't have screenshots or anything but in a new magazine, maybe Nikkei entertainment and there was an interview with Yuuichi Nakamura about his role as Gojo from JJK and he's so close to saying Gojo was is love with Geto I think the reason why nobody wants to say it explicitely is because they signed an NDA. He's saying things about how Gojo was cursed by Geto with even more parallels between them and Yuta cursing Rika because he loves her. I'm sure the voices actors who know what that muted line is when Gojo says one last thing to Geto before executing him will have huge problem is they spill the beans. Even the American Gojo VA is just saying vague but obvious hints like "it's a sentence with three words" I know they all signed an NDA. A few years after the JJK anime will end we'll finally know what that line was and Gege will finally tell us the true nature of their relationship the same way Togashi confirmed Sensui and Itsuki were dating all along which was so obvious it didn't even need a confirmation in the first place.

Update: I watched the movie in theater some weeks ago and it was good. The Shibuya arc compilation was awkward because of how long the arc is compared to how short the compilation was but I was only there for the season 3 episodes. The animation is really good, the Naoya fight scenes looked great. I'm sure Mappa knows what they're doing in terms of fujobait as well, they made the scene where Yuji and Megumi are reunited gayer and a lot more melodramatic especially with Yuji looking way more desperate when it comes to not putting Megumi in danger and Megumi grabbing Yuji's by the wrist to try to make him get up. I'm looking forward to the rest of season 3. I also like to pretend Modulo doesn't exist but that's another topic.

I think it's been discussed here before, but the most likely reason is too many hands in the pot. YOI had a number of companies (including Avex and Sony) involved in its production, and paying them out would be more expensive for MAPPA than just carrying on with their own projects where they gain the largest chunk.

They talk a bit below about the show not bringing them much money, which was likely because of that split. They also mention creative reasons, but the thing is, being unprofitable encourages them to shrug and let it die the second those come up.

I finally got around to reading this (up through volume 4) and am engaged. Chihiro is so funny, I love his perpetual stone face. I also really love the fish, they make me so sad. ( ; ω ; )

As I was reading vol 4 I had to stop at a few panels and be like "really?????" after what feels like years of "shonen mangaka have studied the blade and now know how to identify and withhold fujobait if they don't want fujos". Soya's a freak, when I finally catch up with everything I hope there's some good noncon brocon with a side of Chihiro/Hakuri out there.

Right now no ship has reached "brainworm" status but I think I will enjoy chewing on this basic bitch one as it develops.

How good is MHA in terms of fujobait? What if I decide to only read it for this reason? I ddecied to give JJK a try at the beginning of 2024 because at that point spoilers were impossible to avoid and I couldn't wait for the manga to end anymore before starting it to read it at my own pace but I never had this issue with MHA.

By the way, since I downloaded the official Manga Plus app on my phone I started following more recent Jump manga. So far I haven't started Kagurabachi because it was too new at the time but there are now enough chapters for me to read it and see if I like it. I'm also all caught up with Ichi the Witch, I thought the characters looked good and I love occult stuff but honestly… I think I will only keep reading it for the female characters. Especially for Desscaras. I find Ichi cute but very boring, his one track mind doesn't appeal to me so far. He feels less like a character and more like a safe audience surrogate for teenage boys who think reading a manga about cool women having cool fight scenes will give them cooties. Gokuraku is ugly as fuck too. The fujobait doesn't appeal to me so far but this could change later. It's not a WSJ manga but instead I've really enjoyed Gokurakugai so far. I love the art style and the atmosphere, I like the main characters so far and I wonder what's up with the main antagonist but it's too early to tell. I quickly stopped giving a fuck about Drama Queen, I'd rather die than read Dandadan, Sakamoto Days looks boring like the typical comedy manga that's forced into becoming an action manga to boost sales, etc.

I could give Chainsawman a try but from what I heard I doubt I'll like it. I'm just going to stick to Ichi the Witch, Gikurakugai and maybe try Dogsred. Hunter x Hunter is also on the app but I would need to pay for a subscription to read the chapters so I'll just borrow them at the library near my workplace. I also bought the first volume of Slam Dunk not too long ago after a lot of fujoshi recommended it to me online and irl and I would love to read Eyeshied 21 again for the first time in like 15 years but I can't find volumes in my favorite bookstore so maybe not now.

If you end up liking any of the remotely popular ships you'll feast on Ao3/pixiv. On Ao3 a lot of it is outright AUslop but Sturgeon's law (~10% of all MHA fics is 40,000!) and good filtering still means you will be reading way more compared to any other weeb fandom you might have. If you end up liking Bakugo/Deku you win because it becomes the bakudeku show about halfway through (some would argue it becomes this at the expense of everything else, and I agree even though bkdk #1).

Caught up on this. I liked vol 3+4+5 so much I might get physical copies. Hiyuki is my favorite! Chihiro/Hakuri is cute!! Swords are cool!!! I agree with everybody saying they hope for some filler in the anime. This shit has NO downtime. IMO the cast is getting a little too bloated, but that's kind of a hallmark of shonen.

Honestly without spoilers, the fujobait is subtle but it does feel intentional for some pairings. It's a case of when you really think about it, it's really fucking gay between some of the characters and how gay they are for each other is too plot relevant to be ignored. I won't go into details because part of the fun is to find out by yourself. I thought people were exaggerating when they joked about satosugu before I started the anime but it was all truly fucking gay. The first season is straight forward, a bit too cliche and some parts look like the marketing team and the editor forced Gege to copy Naruto here and there, but it gets better and gayer with the second season imo.

It could be the art style. I think the beginning of the manga looks ugly, and the style in season 1 is very unflattering as well. Seasons 2 and 3 look way better and if the first season and the JJK0 movie had the same style and direction I would have watched it as soon as it was released. Plenty of fanarts make the guys look way cuter or more handsome without making them different from how they canonically look as well. But Gege's art eventually improves.

The only people who care about this chapter (431) are anti-fujos, everybody else ignores it. If you get around to it you will also experience the vibe of 431 being completely off from anything that ever came before it.

Understandable. I've only watched season 1 of the anime (it's fine I guess) and I think the manga falls off kinda hard around ~200 chapters. I only kept up with the manga beyond that point so I'd have context for the fanfiction. Also it was fun to observe Horikoshi evolve as an artist, so I reckon I will enjoy this aspect of JJK as well.

If your friend was shipping it in 2016 she was in the trenches for sure! If you still talk to her you should ask her how it feels to go from the underdog m/m ship to complete and utter domination.
