No.4115
>>4081>Their relationship at the start of the game is super sweet, and then you realize incest is canon in their family and they've got all the necessary genes to be actually insane for each other. Before I played the game I saw a bunch of shipping art of them on my twitter following page and thought to myself "Oh, that's what the fujos are going for? Unusual." Then when I played the game myself I found not only Clive/Jill boring but also Dion/Terence as far as an actual canon gay ship goes and Clive/Joshua was the most interesting option.
No.4116
>>4115I like Terence/Dion but their backstory is just implied and then explained in the guidebook, and Terence isn't nearly as important as Dion in the game in general. The pairing is actually more popular than I expected at first.
>Clive/JillI already said Jill is the MC's love interest but not the heroine of the game here long ago but I still can't believe the game tried so hard to make the audience give a shit about Jill when she spends 99% of her time hospitalized, kidnapped or silently standing there. The ending songs pissed me off for this reason too, they're good but the lyrics and the scenes played when the music plays look ridiculous because Jill is a literal who. I still can't believe this is from the same company that gave us Yuna.
No.4117
>>4116> I still can't believe this is from the same company that gave us Yuna.People eat Jill up. She's a no personality 'girlboss' and people shit themselves over the fact that she kills one guy nobody gave a shit about.
Yeah- they complain about her role, but there are artists obsessed with the idea of a manly MC having sex with a default attractive female MC.
I felt nothing for her and I blame the writing team for copying GoT without knowing what made GoT good. It's ironically like an AI copying a writer's style. They got the key points.
Sex, incest, swearing, blood, sex work, and the secret gays that aren't really a secret and nobody cares. They did the homework, got a passing grade, but didn't internalize anything. Jill is a byproduct of that with her Arya Stark revenge arc but don't understand why or how Arya's actually really, really cool.
I know this is the incest thread, but I say all of that to preface- same company, different writers. FFXII copied Star Wars and hell so did Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and there's a massive difference in understanding. Jill is a sanitized action girl because there was no passion in her goals the way there was in, ironically, Yuna.
No.4122
>>4117I never watched GOT or read the novels but I remember the devs saying they were inspired by it when writing FF16. I only know it's very edgy but that's because I just kept seeing spoilers out of context when the show was airing.
>FFXII copied Star WarsFF2 also did. And guess what? Even the main female characters in that one are more present and likable than Jill. In fucking Final Fantasy 2, an old as fuck game that was very limited in terms of storytelling because it was released on the NES. I like FF16 a lot but Jill was too boring to even be disappointing. No wonder almost everyone I see ships Clive with Joshua or Barnabas.
No.4123
>>4122It's obvious if you've read or watched but specifically, watched. They copied the themes of the show not the books. Like a media illiterate person trying to make a product that banks on media literacy. I don't hate the game's story I just think it was held back by trying to copy a thing they literally couldn't understand.
It was my lowest of the low point of the story because I can see 1:1 EXACTLY who and what they copied. And it's frustrating as a fan of GoT because aside from S8, it's a dark fantasy universe that has SO much going for it.
Take people shipping Clive and Joshua. There's genuine GoT level incest potential between the two of them. Having each other, refusing the comforts of luxury and royalty to be together- all they want is each other. Clive and Jill have a shared GOAL, not chemistry. Jill is mad wet for Clive the entire game and the first time she makes a move, he literally refuses. Realistic given the circumstances he just lived through, but never does he refuse Joshua in any capacity.
Joshua has his own female emotional support who he has no outward romantic affection for but cares so much for his older brother you'd think he was literally crazy for him.
And I don't say this as a fujo, I say this as someone who actually watched the cutscenes. The male/female romance in this game is extremely shallow, as are the GoT inspirational points.
The only relationship with depth I'd say is Garuda and Titan because you can see how much he loves her but she's just his sugar baby. The others are just 'I stood in close proximity to this person ergo pregnancy can occur now.' Hell, Cid saying Clive isn't his type is a lot more than any dialogue between Clive and Jill. Barnabus basically gets a massive boner for Clive that sings more of his character than Clive and Jill. Jill is attracted to the world's hottest man- not faulting her character for that. He's her emotional support, I also can see that. But there are no lengths taken to make them interact as anything more than sexless friends until it's time for THE sex scene while Clive will go on a murderous rampage thinking about his oniichan

I watched an LP since I don't particularly enjoy this genre of gaming, but I think it's severely overshadowed by the lesbians. Maybe it's because they're latino, maybe it's because they're two boys and not a brother/sister, but I see no one talk about LiS2 ever but still see mass posting about the OG.

>>4495It took a long time for me. When I was 12 I had a weird brief Naruto phase despite not having even watched it (I had friends into it) where I just read fic and doujins and I remember reading an ItaSasu (or was it the other way around?) doujin, but brocest remained a squick for me until fairly recently, I was always put off by typical brocon or siscon characters etc. Years later I read some SZS doujins of Nozomu and his hot doctor brother, but I was just devouring any SZS BL I could find.
The ship that popped my twincest cherry was Zero and Ichiru from Vampire Knight, which I watched in full for the first time with a friend as an adult kek. I think that was the first incest ship I properly 'shipped' while watching it. Funnily enough I also watched OHSHC around the same time but never got into Hikaru/Kaoru.
From there, the first incest ship I actually wrote fic for was from a super obscure anime. I sort-of shipped these guys from the start but then they got revealed as half-brothers and I just rolled with it.
The first brocest ship that made me go actually insane was picrel, Tsugikunicest. They're just a ball of tropes tailor-made to appeal to me and I would've shipped them whether or not they were related, which is pretty much how I feel about all incest ships I have ended up liking.
Now I am even deeper down the rabbit hole with another ship and it feels bad because now is the worst possible time ever to be an incest fujo. Stay strong nonnas.

>Best incest ships? I really liked Saiki Kusuo and his brother Kusuke. Hilarious and I liked their dynamics and gags in the show with the way he pushed Kusuo to his limits. But it also presents something really heartbreaking if I consider their circumstances further. I also like it when the ship in question has one of the pair be obsessed with the other party so Kusuke's obsession with winning and his masochism was an A+ for me. (pic unrelated sorry but they're in my mind right now)
>Brothers or Father son?Brothers usually. I don't mind dadson but it's not usually my cup of tea.
>Inseki: Is it ever good or is it always a cop-out?If the narrative refers to them as such and the characters treat them as family then yes but it's really by a case by case basis.
>Is twincest wincest?Hell yeah and it looks hot as well so it's a bonus for that.

>>4713true. the series itself hasn't been the worst so far, I just found the animation quality a little cheap and Lady's character arc to be strange. the old callbacks are pretty neat though. hoping and praying for more sparda brother tensions.
also praying we get some vernero action… i'm usually not a huge fan of father/son relationships but the dynamic between the two is really interesting to me. there's plenty of tension to be explored between the two as well that's barely ever tapped into by western fans which I find pretty sad.

>cousin incest is severely underratedI kind of feel like this is the most "acceptable" kind so it doesn't invoke the same feeling as more immediate family. On the flip side it is the kind that is most likely to actually show up in mainstream media so it has that perk.

>>5798I have a mega ultra rarepair OTP for Alucard that is not Dracula/Alucard, but you're so right nonna. IIRC in Castlevania III, Dracula tried to use Alucard as a sacrifice to summon more power, and one of the theories is that he tried to turn Alucard from a half-vampire into a full one.
There's definitely something there regarding loneliness and isolation. The only person who could ever be like you has forsaken you (bearing in mind that Dracula in Castlevania is not a normal vampire; he was turned by a magic stone).
