Everytime I rewatch NGE I gain more respect for the adults in it. I get why people mostly discuss Asuka and Rei since they are the face of the series, but Ritsuko and Misato are fantastic. I love how there is enough breadcrumbs dropped about there relationship pre-series to speculate on the exact nature of their friendship and I'm surprised more people don't ship them or at the very least draw them together more often.

It's sad NGE attracted such a degenerate fanbase, it can't be understated how complex even the secondary characters are. Way more than just a cumbrain show.

Anon your second and third one are exactly my tastes down to the last detail that if you didn't include siscon I would be suspecting that I wrote this in my sleep. But honestly, dynamics like this are so, so rare in f/f pairings.

To be honest a lot of the dynamics I like in f/f are very similar to what I like with m/m ships but yuri very rarely delivers. The stakes are always yawn-inducingly low and the characters never feel interesting, either it's painfully mundane regular women with little to no conflict or a moidish interpretation of one. I'm a messy girl and I want to read about stories that go hard. I'm specifically a huge sucker for butch/femme where it's the masculine girl who's being emotionally weaker than the feminine one.

Agree, the adults in NGE are extremely relatable and I wish more anime series had adult characters with actual adult issues in them rather than endless rehashing of teenage angst.

It's a cute read, basically a SoL light romance with a bunch of music references. Wouldn't say the story is special in a really good or bad way. The art is definitely the main draw for it.

I really enjoy the premise of having a more masculine lesbian character because that's rare as hell but also I kinda don't like the "b-but I thought she was a boy!!!" angle because it feels… like heterofying the experience too much? I hate the "but we're both men" and "will they won't they" tropes in BL too but being a butch lesbian myself I'm not really enjoying the whole point of the story being that she thinks that a nerdy girl is some cool alt guy that she's crushing on instead of the story being straight up about it being a lesbian romance.

But that said, if I was younger I would enjoy it a lot and relate to the GNC protagonist way more, it seems to be written for teenagers to begin with because the narration is fairly simple and has that teenage experience spirit to it. I'm not trying to poo-poo all over it, I think it's a great change to regular CGDCT dogshit GL manga made for coomers and I hope it'll inspire more of its kind.

I think a significant romantic development happened recently? But you’re right for a lot of it, it was a slow burn that kinda felt just like yuri bait. I liked a one shot this author wrote which was a brocon x bro’s gf.

I'm legitimately curious how everyone here feels about 7menzippo's yuri series since she assumed only men would buy it at the start yet it ended up being significantly more successful with fujoshi in Japan to the point where they got the direction the story was going to take (what little story there was) changed and it topped both the "women's manga" and "TL manga" sections on cmoa.jp (Pixiv favorites make this obvious too) while guys didn't really give a damn.

Looking at how they're draw, it's not that surprising, considering that women, regardless of sexuality, like princely characters, men or women. After all, there is a reason why a character like Rika tops the annual yume/fu charts despite being a woman. Not sure if men like this sort of archetype considering the type of tomboys I've the majority of them lust over still looking considerably feminine.

 No.9421

Mens tomboy fantasies entirely revolve around taking the tomboy and putting her in a dress or otherwise feminizing her, they have no capability of appreciating a woman's natural masculinity as it is, its poison to them.

>Mens tomboy fantasies entirely revolve around taking the tomboy and putting her in a dress or otherwise feminizing her
It's a curse, because tomboy art usually revolves around male fantasies so it's rare to see one that I like. But, also a blessing, because I won't have to be around the insufferable types of men.
Speaking of which, are there any yuri manga that features this archetype that attracts women (aside from 7menzippo's stuff, though that looks more princely than tomboy, however the lines blur here)? I know it's more common in manhwa, but I don't like its format, so I was hoping to find more manga like that.

On one hand yes, on the other hand the whole thing is presented in a way commonly seen as "masculine" with a focus on big breasts and fetishistic elements like high-heels, short skirts and pantyhose. Yet her audience turned out to love it. These are mild examples, just google "7menzippo yuri" and you'll get it.

I hate office love as a genre to begin with so it's not for me personally, but I can see why women would like it more than men because for one thing the women look like adults and have short hair. Two things that otaku men find absolutely reprehensible.

PMMM was the first time I ever got invested in F/F ships, to this day HomuMado is still one of my OTPs.

Sadly I couldn't get invested in the Magia Record anime, there were too many characters that felt very surface-level, plus the pacing was bad. Dropped it after season 2 and didn't bother with the last season. Not sure if the game was any better, not that it matters anyway since it's dead and impossible to play now due to being a gacha live service.

She's cool as hell and easily the best dr character, the end of chapter 3 solidified this for me. I truly believe she deserves the best. It makes me really happy how she's gotten more comfortable being vulnerable without losing her roughness hate how the fandom mischaracterizes her though

 No.12112

Agreed. I love her development and she really does deserve the best, it has me dreading the future of the game. I can't imagine bogging down such a good and interesting character (among others) with a shitty ending, but as much as I have faith in the writing, it is a possibility.
How do you think the fandom mischaracterizes her? I know she sometimes gets ignored because she doesn't have much of a connection to the deeplore or she doesn't appear that complex, but when she is included she seems mostly in-character.

Are there any good GL manhua? I want to get into it since most authors actually seem to be women, but the art style tends to turn me off. Also, I've been watching a good amount of lesbian films like Go Fish, Saving Face and The Watermelon Woman (peak, though I feel some anons would find it too woke or whatever). Are there any live-action lesbian movies any one likes that's written and ideally directed by a woman? I don't really care about what country it's from as long as the actresses can actually emote/don't have iphone face. I'm a hardcore fujo, but I don't really like live action BL lol. All the ones I can name off the top of my head are either directed by a woman and/or based on a novel written by one. Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Fingersmith (I liked The Handmaiden too but it’s directed by a man and is slightly different from the original so you might not idk), Desert Hearts, My First Summer, Carol, The Miseducation of Cameron Post (not romance just lesbian themed)

I don't totally mind movies directed by a dude unless the movie ends up being as gross and disrespectful to the lead actresses like Blue is the Warmest Colour (which i will never watch). So, thank you again!

Thanks, I actually really needed to hear that. I’ve been taking Ls in other places recently, so it sincerely cheered me up.

 No.12871

I've never been taken in by most yuribaiting since yuribaiting is usually done for gross men who want to see lolis in CGDCTs being fetishized in a 'pure' lesbian relationship (i.e. Hidamari Sketch which I liked as an uninformed teen, but didn't like the weird shipbait). BUT I have been yuribaiting by one anime and one anime only: Carole and Tuesday. But the thing is, I don't even think Carole and Tuesday were ever meant to be yuribait, I think I just came into the show with a(n unfounded) notion that they were going to get together. I should have never expected that and yet I did and I couldn't finish the damn show because they introduced a male love interest for one of them/there were the vibes of it. I was just plain delusional and I usually don't even go into non-BL/GL expecting any type of gay relationship. Has anyone else been yuribaited despite the anime/manga actually not having yuribait in it?

 No.12873

>>12871
This is going to be a different situation from yours since there is no het or canon relationships in the show, but the only time I truly felt yuribaited and disappointed was with love live superstar.
First three episodes made me invested in Keke and Kanon just for the story to do a 180 and make the childhood friend much more important while reducing Keke to a comedic relief side character and pairing her up with another (ugly) side character. I ended up not finishing the first season because of the disappointment.
