No.71
>>69I'd say it's about a 7/10. This manga is full of explicit gay fanservice (mostly played for laughs) so the Sugimoto and Ogata stuff is more subtle, but I think the author drops some fanservice and hints if you pay attention, and well, everyone I know thought the sucking scene
>>65 was pretty gay and intense lol
I don't think they are going to be endgoal or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ogata was canonically gay either

>>82>>83I would translate the shit out of it if I could find it in japanese. I could only find some random pages in japanese, but they're not even from any "meaty" parts. I saw it for sale at an online bookstore (I don't remember which) but it was 70 bucks and I don't have that money to spend on porn manga lol
>>85Anon I will love you forever. Thanks in advance in case you do it! I guess all you need to know is that the character with a huge facial scar is called Sugimoto Saichi and the one with sidecuts is called Ogata Hyakunosuke. Both were soldiers for the Russo-Japanese war and Ogata is higher in rank to Sugimoto.

there might be errors; i only did a quick proofread, skipped a lot of repetitive moans, and played pretty fast and loose with the translation. i also don't know how good the original chinese translation was. however, it's hopefully enough for you to figure out what's going on in here. hope you enjoy, 'nonnies.

>>287Thank you so much, anon! You're the real MVP. Could I edit your translation into the doujin itself? Then I could post it here. It's okay if you'd rather not.
I'm guessing the "Jinulanke" guy is supposed to be Kiroranke translated into Chinese, it's this Ainu guy. He's often paired with Shiraishi, so I guess the implication is that they were fucking at the time. (Bonus Boutaro with pigtails cause he's cute)
Also all the "M" guys (I guess aside from one, which is a super minor character) were made up anyway.

Kiroranke died a lot of artists unfortunately deleted their art out of sadness and a lack of inspiration to create new content. It's a normal thing for Japanese artists to delete their old work when leaving fandoms, from what I've noticed.

>>372It's a thing moid artists would do mostly, you can tell the difference if a fujo artist drew it or if a moid did. There will be more veins on it, more foreskin flaps and most likely will have more curve to it on the bottom or with a weird curve to it altogether. Some fujos find it unappealing, I wished it had a typical BL peeper because the artstyle does give me fujo vibes, thats all. I can make a comparison list once I gather some materials for it.
No.374
>>373I think attempting to draw a clear distinction between art typically characteristic of BL and art characteristic of geicomi in fanart of a series like Golden Kamuy is asinine… It's very rare you'd see a typical fujoshi lust after a man that looks like Tanigaki to begin with for example, what with his muscles and body hair and sagging testicles. It begets a certain type of fan who isn't going to be interested in more archetypical fujoshi tropes and nuances and what-have-you. I've also seen Osomatsu-san artists draw penises of pretty much an identical nature before, and you know the audience of that series. This is less to do with an artist's sex and moreso to do with their level of degeneracy, really.
I don't bring Tanigaki up out of the blue, mind you, I'm familiar with that artist and she's a big OTani fan. Shame they laid waste to their Pixiv gallery a while back.
But that's a lot of words to say that veiny masculine curved dicks are good, actually.

No.383
>>382Unfortunately not, she's in the habit of nuking her gallery and that includes streams. There's a lot of pre-GK art she did that's lost to time. I'm particularly sad that her Pixiv upload disclosing her CSP brush settings was deleted…
Funny you mentioned self-insertion though, since I'm fairly certain her female Sugimoto serves as that for her, hah. Can't blame her though, with all of the good-looking guys in this manga. The way she draws Koito is too sexy.

>The way she draws Koito is too sexy.It is! She's degen as shit, but now I feel a little less bad for enjoying her femSugixKoito dj a bit *too much*. I liked how Koito realistically played with her g-spot, if the author is a woman it makes much more sense, then. Just wish she would tone down the tits a bit lol

I bought the first three volumes of the manga in 2016 when it literally just started in my country and had to sell them and a lot of things because I needed money. I somehow managed to never see spoilers so I'm considering giving it another try someday. I like reading actual books now instead of reading on a screen because it's much more comfortable but manga are getting more and more expensive so I'm hesitating to get physical copies of the manga a little.
No.1982
>>1979If you can afford a big one off payment you could try buying an ereader and loading CBZ files from the high seas on it (rips of the English release should be about, and the fan translations which I always liked the translation notes on since they tried to match historical locations and cultural details). I personally use a Kobo because it allows pretty much all file types. Very good for focusing on fanfics and getting through volumes without distractions, and doesn't require brightness adjustments in sunshine. Only downsides are black and white screen and most are smaller than a regular volume print, so you'll likely find yourself zooming for small text here and there, but the newer screens are way more responsive so zooming is quick. The ink and magnets display doesn't use much battery so you get weeks between charges and it doesn't weigh more than a paperback. Honestly I've been in love with these things for over a decade and they're so much easier to carry around than books that get beat up while traveling, especially with how flimsy some prints have gotten. Overall I think I've saved money by entertaining myself with free stuff.

>>3243>the GK discussion was the only good thread on LC IMOIm surprised that meaningful discussion could be made in that place without a yumefag coming down at your throat for spreading "ugly man psyop" or shilling "roidpigs".
That aside, Im glad youve enjoyed GK! its a top series of mine as well and I enjoy how dynamic and diverse the cast is; it had me rooting for both the antagonists and protagonists, something I rarely seen pulled off (the only other series Ive seen being dorohedoro, which is severely lacking in yaoi content imo) I also enjoy how the characters shift allegiances often, especially Ogata, it was cute seeing him getting along with the main cast for a while; hes such a wild card between all sides I love how unpredictable and insane he is.
>Nikaidou is painfully underrated. He has the debuff of not being a shipping character (he's more like a cute pet) but I like him a lot as well.I love that comparison kekk, hes hilarious as hell and i always crack up whenever he shows up.

>>2665I'm giving the manga anothe try after giving up on the anime because the pacing felt weird to me, I didn't realize I dropped the anime so long ago kek.
No.3283
>>3279The anime actually cut out a lot of manga content and had to adapt them later in the form of OVAs which explain the weird pacing. IIRC they only intended to animate 12 episodes plus 1 OVA to be sold alongside a manga volume but the anime was well received which allowed them to greenlight a 2nd season.
The Barato arc is highly underrated and is best appreciated if you've seen the movie Yojimbo. Plus I love me some Ogata and Hijikata screentime
No.3285
>>3283>The anime actually cut out a lot of manga content and had to adapt them later in the form of OVAs which explain the weird pacingI'm not surprised, I suspected this because of the pacing. That's a shame because iirc Golden Kamui is a very successful manga and it's long enough to have longer seasons imo.
No.3503
>>3248>it had me rooting for both the antagonists and protagonists, something I rarely seen pulled off (the only other series Ive seen being dorohedoroFunny that you mention this because Dorohedoro and GK are my to-go examples whenever I talk about that stuff. In that sense I fully agree!
It's sadly very rare but it's such a pivotal part of story telling for me it largely determines whether I get obsessed with a series or won't care. I usually end up preferring antagonists anyway, so making them mains with own arcs and PoV is a god given blessing for me.
What both series do especially well is that they also mix and develop every group and individual. There is no a status quo everything has to return to. The groups you assumed to be fixed break apart in the course of the story, characters betray each other, enemies befriend each other, switch factions, come back or go solo. Then there is the development most of the antags had in relation with Tsurumi, especially Tsukishima and Koito.
It's fantastic and makes a series so much more interesting and varied if you aren't forced to stick to the same MC and dynamics for 20+ volumes. Nothing makes me angrier than a series that has the interesting things happening off-screen because the PoV can't detach from the central protags or long-running manga that never change anything about their side characters.
No.3588
I'm still not done reading GK but man it's so good. The start was a bit slow for me and I didn't like the parts about ainu culture because thet felt like I was watching a boring documentary at first but it keeps getting better and better. I've read 20 volumes so far and will keep reading this weekend. I also agree with
>>3503 and
>>3248 I love that all the characters are more or less equally important or I would have found Sugimoto and Asirpa too boring to keep reading. Instead I'm glad to see them when they're the focus again after seeing all the other characters doing their own thing. I need to see Tsurumi more often though, he's funny as hell but please don't spoil anything yet. I also have to admire Satoru Noda for his dedication to drawing censored dicks and balls as often as possible for no reason whatsoever.
No.3591
>>3588I feel the same and honestly I fear that the first few volumes are the reason for why so many get filtered by the series. GK is one of the very, very rare cases where the claim "I swear it gets much better later" is actually true. It was never bad, mind you, otherwise I wouldn't have bought the rest. But the series only really starts cutting its own path and shining after the big players are properly introduced and you get the first big developments like Tanigaki joining the group and Ogata betraying Tsurumi.
No.3592
>>3591I actually got filtered way back in 2016 when I bought the first volumes of the manga just based on the premise as soon as they got officially translated where I am and found the beginning too slow for my taste compared to how I earned a lot less money than before at the time so I couldn't buy all the volumes on time to keep up and I didn't want to read scans because I just kept seeing spoilers for anything I ever looked up online. The slow beginning isn't entirely a bad thing though, it helps make the stakes higher by proving more context.
Now I'm just hoping the ending isn't totally rushed because the last completed manga I read JJK and it's the exact opposite, it has a rushed beginning, the middle is pretty good, it's obvious the manga artist knew what he wanted to show and tell from the beginning and was putting hints here and there all the over the manga and even prefectly connected it to his previous manga which was supposed to be a oneshot, then it's like he had to hurry up and finish the manga as soon as possible while forgetting to conclude a lot of important things he introduced not to keep things mysterious on purpose but because "oops I forgot about that" according to himself. It's safe to assume Noda knew where the story would go from the very start because of how Ashirpa is supposed to already have all the hints to understand the tattoos but after seeing it's sometimes not enough to be able to show a satisfying ending I'm still a little worried now.
No.3593
>>3592Yeah it's not bad, it just pales in comparison with how fucking good the rest is.
The premise itself might also alienate some too, since it's basically just a treasure hunt. It's almost irrelevant for the enjoyment, because what makes GK great and what the series is focusing on are the characters, dynamics, character developments and the action/comedy combo that should be a treat to everybody that likes classic western, action or slap-stick movies. Thing is just that manga fans that haven't read it don't know that yet.
The other problem is probably the anime adaption. Most people choose the anime if they want to get into something that has both and because of the CGI bear, the mediocre animation and the fucked pacing the anime gives off a bad impression. I myself postponed the series for years after watching s1 and only considering it a 6/10 "great premise and characters but badly executed, not sure if fault of the anime or manga too".
I recommended the series to a few people and all of them watched it instead of reading it and told me it wasn't that good and gave up on it.
No.3594
>>3593The anime is pretty bad yeah, I talked about how I started it but didn't finish it in this thread earlier because the pacing made it seem like everything was happening so fast it was nonsensical. I'm more into manga than anime in general so I started with the manga very early, tried the anime a lot later and now I'm reading the manga again. It's a shame the anime isn't as good as it could have been with how popular the manga is. The voice actors are pretty good, it feels like a waste. It reminds me of how I feel for the Eyeshield 21 anime, the manga is excellent and the anime is ass, doesn't adapt everything, but the voice acting was so good I forced myself to watch most of the episodes back then.
