>>889> I guess arriving late to a fandom like this does have its perks though, like unlimited fanart and a metric fuckton of doujinshi. It was super popular in Japan and still does have popularity there, that's why there's endless fanart of it. And yeah, the Western side of the fandom was and still is cancer, so it's good that it's rather small overseas.
>I actually started watching the anime not expecting to ship any of the boys just because of the weird character That was me at first, I always thought the character designs were very cute and goofy in the first season, but it wasn't something I expect a lot of art to be churned out of. No shade to any fans, but I just can't get into it and most fics just make Kara OOC to accommodate the pair.
No.1205
>>1196This is tough but if I had to choose it'd be: eldest two, middle two, youngest two.
Please let me sperg about them a bit.
Choukei is one of my favourites. Their power dynamics as the two eldest are just so *chef's kiss*. I like to imagine oso being super clingy and touchy, and kara just being happy to receive any kind of attention at all. But also the thought of them being nonchalantly affectionate in public. Holding hands, whispering to eachother, getting in eachother's personal space like it's the most normal thing ever. And since they're twins, bystanders just assume they're really REALLY close as siblings. But upon closer inspection people start to notice glances that linger a little too long and touches that are a little too intimate huehuehuehue
As for nenchuu, I didn't really care about these two, but that episode where they're alone together at home was very eye-opening kek. They're just so damn awkward it's so cute! It's fun to imagine them working themselves up over the simplest shows of affection.
And for the last one, I honestly think any ship with jyushi in it is bound to be excellent no matter what. But with sue there's a lot of potential for interesting scenarios. Since todomatsu is jyushimatsu's only younger brother, there's the possibility of a possessive or overly protective jyushi. Or todomatsu letting his normie facade slip and just goofing around with his niisan.
All that being said, the absolute best ship is
all/all. They need to have an orgy. No.1206

I am back after like a month of absence. Now is the time for me to spam more choukei.
>>1171It honestly wasn't that, they just have a great dynamic together and they seem to have the best relationship between the six canonically. I don't care whether it's platonic or not, but they are just so adorable when they are together. I also love seeing fanart of their highschool versions too.
>>1198I'm on the same boat, I never understood why this one became the most popular, especially with the majority of the fanart having Karamatsu as the seme (now, to me, this really doesn't make sense). I only kind of like this pairing when Ichimatsu is being abusive to Karamatsu, that's the only possible scenario where it makes sense to me.
Also,
>>1202 is right, I'm not a fan but the fanart is top notch.
>>1205I'm seriously autistic about Choukei too for about the same reasons (Osomatsu being an affectionate playful onii-chan and Karamatsu just wanting love and attention though being somewhat outwardly tsun towards Osomatsu since he treats him the harshest out of all of the brothers, being that he is the oldest). But I have other reasons as well as to why I am so autistic about them. They both are the most idiotic of the bunch to me, the eldest brother dynamic is almost like a mom and dad kind of dynamic too if you really think about it, they both seem to be the most 'boyish' of the bunch to me, and Karamatsu being harder on Osomatsu and yet secretly being so reliant on him as an elder brother is just so cute, it makes me gush. When I first watched the show, I never imagined that I would begin to love these two as a pairing eventually - it hit me like a speeding train. Anyways, sorry for my sperg rant, continue on everyone.

Really liked the framing on the second to last page though. Strong imagery.
It's definitely closer to what I'm looking for than a lot of fanworks. A big pet peeve of mine is when the author acts like the family wouldn't care. Personally it seems like two of them getting involved would split the family in half. They're all degenerates, I'm sure some of the brothers would be fine with it, some friendly ribbing, but it would definitely upset their parents and a few of the siblings.

I hope this is OK to ask and not blasphemous but like… What's choromatsus personality? I feel like he's just osomatsu 2.0.
No.1299
>>1298Chroromatsu is actually my favorite lol, I loved him so much I once wrote a video-script for him. Here is an old-write up about his personality.
Choromatsu is not smarter than his brothers, he isn’t a “nerd” and he isn’t even book smart. I feel like a lot of people who try to lump him into this stereotype are missing both a major component of his character and removing half of his appeal. And yes I’m aware that official merch leans into this as well, and while they may push him as the megane moe option his canon characterization explicitly conflicts with this perception. Choro presents himself as mature, he puts himself above his brothers because he is “looking for a job” “or trying to graduate from NEEThood,” but the thing is. He isn’t.
He puts on a show of it, going to the job office, goading his brothers for not being contributing members of society, but at the end of the day Choro isn’t contributing. He hasn’t picked up some minimum wage job, and in recent seasons he hasn’t shown to be looking at all. He himself has admitted this a few times, most notably in the Dayon Tribe episode where he basically breaks down and cries saying that he doesn’t have what it takes to live in the real world. He’d like to be a contributing member of society, he wants to be a proper person, but he puts his Idol hobby above everything else and I am convinced that if given the choice between a backstage pass at a Nyaa-chan concert or a stable job he would take the pass in a heartbeat.
He is a man who knows what he is expected to be, but doesn’t have the drive or know-how to actually live up and succeed at them. He’d rather live in an escapist world, be that the Dayon tribe, or just watching Idol shows to avoid thinking about how he has no job. In the mean time however he is all about keeping up appearances. He will present himself as the proper and sensible one, but really at the end of the day it’s just a façade to make people think higher of him and if I may insert a bit of speculation perhaps a coping mechanism to deal with what he feels to be societal and family pressures
Choro moreso than any other of the Matsus is be motivated by guilt and remorse. While Ichimatsu may claim to be a shameful pile of human trash he isn’t actually motivated to do anything about it. Choro through shame shapes himself and that is one of his most interesting character traits to me. The first introduction we get to Choro is him deciding that the brothers all need to change to fit modern times out of fear they won’t be popular. Choro is not pushed to do things because he feels personally, they are the best course of action to take. Instead he follows extrinsic motivation and aims to please and accomplish of what others want him to do. And that isn’t a bad thing all the time, learning to do what is expected and what needs to be done to get to a certain outcome in life is an essential part of getting places if you’re an average joe.

No.1300
>>1299I don’t want to lampoon the character to just being negative elements, Choromatsu is shown to be a bit more contemplative than most of his brothers. Being a tsukkomi his role in most jokes is to be the straightman being more down to earth and berating others idiocy. He is the sensible and cynical one and while you could argue his role is essential to the comedic nature of the show, even outside of the clear comedy segments of the show he is shown to tend to be quiet. Often, in the background reading or observing while others fight until he has an opinion to voice. As much time as I just spent to decrying any illusion of intelligence he may have I do not think that Choro is stupid or lacking in maturity. In fact I actually think that he is rather level-headed and capable of looking at the bigger picture most of his brothers don’t seem to grasp.
I’d go so far as to say he is in a way socially intelligent even though he doesn’t have the faux friend group that Totty has. Unlike Oso or Kara who have a devil may care attitude towards what others think, Choro does care. And because of that he accesses situations and acts appropriately. He is capable of seeing the burden he gives to his parents, and recognizing it as an less than ideal situation takes the steps forward to mitigate it so much as it doesn’t actively discomfort him or get in the way of his idol fanatism.

I like to think that Osomatsu grew up to be such a fucked up adult (alcoholic, handsy pervert, neet, etc.) because of what Tougou did to him as a child. I also like to imagine he copes with it by inflicting that same trauma on his brothers. Lots of potential for noncon here >:)

Like the other nonas I'm not fixated on a ship, so if we do it, it will be fun.
What will you all get too?

OsoIchi! Yay! I'm gonna try to write a one shot and finish by the end of this month!
>>1861Thanks for this nona, I'm rollan'.
>>1862I got the exact opposite, nice roll nona.

>>2031Muppet fucker reporting in. It's such a shame the site didn't have a more recent backup. I had some really fun conversations with nonnas itt that are now forever lost to the sands of time.
Did anyone see the takoyaki party movie that came out recently? We got some nice brotherly
dick-touching at the bathhouse kek also not shipping related but
we got to see a character that I believe was supposed to be Totoko's older brother(?) with his wife and baby. And we see Totoko wistfully looking on as her parents dote on her brother and his family and praise him for fulfilling his societal duties while Totoko is still a woman-child that just wants to have fun with her friends forever. I'm probably reading too far into this but she is one of my favourites and that scene gave her character so much more depth and I love that.
Now we have the dog matsu anime to look forward to. It looks cute but I wish we could get another proper season of the anime with the boys. That looks extremely unlikely though, with Osomatsu's seiyuu getting banished into the ether. What a shame.

>>2044I just saw it. It kind of made me feel bad. Everyone is getting old, and I'm getting old :(. But yeah, more muppets is always a good thing.
>I'm probably reading too far into this but she is one of my favourites and that scene gave her character so much more depth and I love that. You aren't, I was thinking the same thing. You know, I didn't really care for her all that much but now that I'm getting older, I can emphasize with her more. Everyone around me is getting married and having kids it seems, and I just want to stay a kid forever. Let me stop blogposting before I start writing paragraphs.
>Now we have the dog matsu anime to look forward to. It looks cute but I wish we could get another proper season of the anime with the boys. I really hope we get another season. I don't want the fun to end. This is one of my favorite anime and the one that meant the most to me other than my childhood anime.
>That looks extremely unlikely though, with Osomatsu's seiyuu getting banished into the ether. What's going on?
No.2062
>>2057>What's going on?Sakurai (Osomatsu's VA) got caught cheating on his wife a few months ago. Apparently he'd been seeing this other woman behind his wife's back for ten whole years. There was a whole scandal and long story short, the agency that he contracts with dropped his ass. He's on an indefinite hiatus now I believe. I know moids are gonna moid no matter what, but it's always disappointing when it happens.
>It kind of made me feel bad. Everyone is getting old, and I'm getting old :(Honestly nonna, oso-san gets too real sometimes. There are some episodes I can't rewatch without going through the five stages of grief because I realize I'm relating too much to a bunch of anime neets. The wedding episode is the worst offender for me. Watching your peers progress through the different stages of life while you're just stuck is the worst, and I really don't need the muppet anime to remind me of that.
No.2068
>>2062First Osomatsu's English VA dies, one of the few english VAs that I actually liked, and then this happens. Is this some sort of coincidence? Or is it much more sinister, like a red muppet conspiracy? I'm not sure, but all I know is damn, this sucks.
>Honestly nonna, oso-san gets too real sometimes. There are some episodes I can't rewatch without going through the five stages of grief because I realize I'm relating too much to a bunch of anime neets.Same here. I legit cringe at them because they get a bit too personal. Only anime that I've watched that legit made me feel uncomfortable.
>The wedding episode is the worst offender for me. Same here, I got sick. I'm still technically young but damn, I get older people bothering me all the time about getting a boyfriend and finding a husband. It kills me. That episode was just too much. I hated it. The akward pauses didn't help much either.
No.2089
>>2071I'm probably biased but yes, season 3 is absolutely worth it. It has some of my favourite episodes. As for everything after season 3, there's a two-part OVA/movie thing that came out. The first part I personally didn't like much but the second part is definitely worth a watch. There's also a live action movie which I enjoyed
I know liking live action is blasphemy in anime fandom but it was pretty good.
I'm a bit sad I didn't get into Osomatsu-San back in its heyday. It's probably for the best though because I was in a pretty bad place mentally during that time and I know this anime would have just exacerbated things. Even though it's a bit lonely not having that many people to sperg about my ships with, I do appreciate the peace and quiet.
No.2204
>>2199I've watched a few episodes of Osomatsu-kun and from what I've seen it definitely doesn't have the same type of trashy adult humour as Osomatsu-san. Which makes sense since it was meant to be a children's show. I do remember being startled by how extremely violent it was though. Like, the violence went beyond the slapstick humour you see in kid's cartoons and bordered on sadistic sometimes. It made Osomatsu-san look tame in comparison kek. I might have been imagining that though.
Another thing I found strange about Osomatsu-kun was how Iyami seemed to be the main character instead of the sextuplets. Iyami is an okay character but he's not interesting enough on his own to be a main character imo.
I haven't watched enough of it to recommend it but it seems cute anyway.
That being said, I do wonder how many childhoods they ruined by airing Osomatsu-san though. I can't imagine growing up with these characters and remembering them fondly, and then years later you turn on the TV and there they all are except they all suck now kek
No.2255
>>2199You have to remember, the reason why Chibita and Iyami were the stars back then is because the sextuplets were essentially copies of one another and it was extremely hard to tell them apart back then other than by their voices if you were watching the two anime series that is. San made their personalities more colorful and dinstinguished from one another, along with adding an actual color scheme to them and physical differences.
>>2204>I can't imagine growing up with these characters and remembering them fondly, and then years later you turn on the TV and there they all are except they all suck now kekThey were always trash human beings, even in the original manga, so it isn't too much of a surprise to be honest.

>>2277I don't think I've ever seen this much autism concentrated into one image before. It's incredibly creative actually. I've never seen anything like it.
I do like the idea of Ichimatsu with bony hands though. It fits his character for some reason.

Still waiting on the official season 3 English release. Wonder what's taking them so long? I want to officially support the series I like damnit!
Anyway whats on your bingo sheets for the new season? I'd love a ghost themed episode, and realistically I expect an episode where either Oso or Choro becomes addicted to a shitty mobile gacha since those are so insanely popular right now.
No.2828
>>2825>Wonder what's taking them so long?Isn't it because Osomatsu's english VA died? I doubt they'd replace him since he voiced the titular character and all.
>bingo sheetsI want another serious episode! They get too real sometimes and I love the contrast with how goofy everything else is. Also predicting another one of those "(character) incident" episodes for either Osomatsu, Jyushimatsu or Todomatsu since they haven't had their turn yet. I'm guessing there'll be an episode about Nyaa-chan's baby probably. I'd also really like a skit featuring Jyushimatsu and Todomatsu cause I don't think they have any together. They're such an unlikely pair I don't even know what they'd do together realistically but there has to be something kek! Also, also, also! More
Oso/Kara fanservice a la the ear cleaning episode! Just more borderline BL fanservice in general kek! Unrealistic but a fujo can dream.

AMVs were very cool too tho, I remember really liking the Bad Apple one, it features the Devimega AU and I'm kinda of a sucker for that one.
