The scene with Kairi and Sora was not a confirmation for a romantic relationship imo but you just have to see it and judge for yourself. I really doubt Nomura will end the series with any confirmed romantic pairings considering how the games emphasize platonic bonds more than anything.

I recently dipped inside the KH fandom after not being in it for 10 years, and I'm genuinely shocked by how openly hated Akuroku is now. Not only that, a lot of the people against Akuroku are actually Soriku shippers, which boggles my mind. Back then, pretty much every single KH fanfic included Soriku and Akuroku in it. It was the norm to have both pairings included if you were writing a KH AU fic. Don't get me wrong, I love Soriku, but why are so many of its current fans puritans/antis? A lot of the hate comments they post about Akuroku comes across as being mad that Akuroku was even more popular than Soriku at one point kek. Which, again, is just funny to me considering how every Soriku shipper back then was also an Akuroku shipper.
I hate how Axel is currently characterized by the fandom as a "brother" to Roxas, or how the whole sea salt trio is characterized as a found family trope. It just comes across as cope to make the Akuroku dynamic seem more palatable because of the age gap between them. Axel and Roxas's feelings for each other don't feel brotherly at all; it's very clear they see each other as best friends, not to mention how romantically charged some of their dialogue can come across (not that I actually believe it's meant to be interpreted as romantic).
On an unrelated note, I'm happy to see that Vanven is actually more popular now. It was my favorite rarepair back then, but there was so little fanart or fanfic for it because most people didn't see the vision.
