How old does it have to be to be considered "old school"?

Has anyone one read A Cruel God Reigns (Zankoku na Kami ga Shihai Suru)
I love it so much and for some odd reason it's hard to find anyone that's read it

i've read it twice. it's a pretty hardcore work on top of the art style being kind of dated (i enjoy it, but still) so it makes sense that not many people have heard of it.
but it could make for a great anime imo. if it got the right staff.

I’m a sick fuck who really loved the miserable and oppressive atmosphere of the first half so when we entered the post-Greg arc I absolutely hated it lol. I should have just stopped reading at that point… Hurt only, no comfort plz
I know the second half has its own miseries but I just really liked the Greg parts a lot more. The story felt more frustrating and tedious to read after that. Too many love triangles and shit.

I wish someone would post a list.. I've only read/ seen the the manga in the OP, I'm unaware of works beyond that artist.

I enjoyed this manga, but the BL was my least favorite part. The parallels between Ian and Greg were gag-inducing. Jeremy didn’t deserve any of it.

Can we talk about the way sexual abuse is portrayed in Kaze to ki no Uta? the setting it OTT gothic, and the author had a boner for Death in Venice, but it still shows the Gilbert as having issues stemming from being sexually abused that are kind of realistic such as hypersexuality, becoming a target for groomers, etc

It's also explicit about August having been abused, possibly from an early age. Takemiya didn't have to show us an entire child porn photo op setup, but she did, and it makes things so much worse for August than just 'was raped', turns it into 'was raped and had it immortalised in images that may or may not turn up in some rich dudes' closet', the guy has to live in the knowledge of pictures of his abuse being out there.

Am only halfway through, so maybe I'm missing some big stuff.

Even though I adore old school manga I actually never did manage to get trough Kaze to ki no Uta. The way it talks about sexual abuse is just too much for me to stomach. I remember thinking the art and the storytelling was beautiful, you can really feel the character's grief when you read it. I guess that's why I can't get read it without getting really sad and uncomfortable? I'm not saying that it's a bad thing just that it deals with subjects that is hard for me to talk about. But I was really young when I tried to read it so that may also have affected how I felt about it. Maybe I should try rereading it and come back to this thread

I watched the Kazeki movie today cause I've had a strong urge lately to watch old anime but with how incomplete it is I feel like I definitely should read the manga at some point. Can't believe Serge literally has an "I can fix him" complex.
