>>1443Generally, I find that older stuff tends to be better, like actual older fics. I feel there was a shift around, say 2012, and stuff written before that, as a whole, tends to be better. There was another shift in 2020, ofc, when normals got interested in fandom because they couldn't leave their houses, and the overall quality of fic written after that is much lower.
>>1444Don't judge my taste too hard nonna, its The World We Knew. I really love the characterization, and I'm a sucker for a slow burn. I am worried that the author is going to lean into Dumbledore bashing, which I find annoying, but thus far its clear that its the characters who take issue with his actions, and that a lot of the conflict arises from the need to keep secrets, secret. He's manipulative, thus far, not comically evil.
I love the way that both Snape and Harry are written though, and there's no overnight swooning. The evolution of enemies to tentative allies feels really natural.
>searching through current fandom is a fucking minefieldI've got the filter that some nonna posted here and *still* I get annoying troon stuff slipping through the cracks, and the constant bowing and scraping by most authors, immediately disavowing Rowling in the notes.
