thank you so much for taking the lead on creating the GF thread! Its been such a long time since ive last watched the episodes so I cant answer most of the questions, i just really hope it does not get a 3rd season; whether it be published under disney or not. The ending was satisfactory on its own and the only new content I can tolerate is if its different medias like the book of ciphers or comic strips.
I fear that having less disney restrictions would allow more freedom to add inevitable troon pandering…. and i also dont want fandom fanservice to sway the narrative (e.g. billford old man yaoi is CANON and anyone who says otherwise is going against hirsch's wishes!!!) i have no vendetta against people who enjoy the ship, i just wish modern fandom wouldnt be so insistent on shipping the most "canon" ship instead of just having fun.

I don’t really ship in GF but I’d have to go with Billdip because the fanart is so beautiful (and I can get into it I’d say)

You guys remember the AUs this show spawned? Reverse Falls was great, but there were a few others like everyone was some sort of animal monster (dipper was a deer centaur thing) and there was one that was a crossover with a few other cartoons like Over the Garden Wall and it was a bad end universe where Dipper was fused with Bill or something. Good times.

I haven't watched the show in a while, but I remember double dipper and sock opera being my favorite episodes. Checking the episode guide, season 1 definitely had more episodes I enjoyed compared to season 2.

Both is good, although billdip definitely wins in the art department. I only ever read stancest fanfics and never ventured into looking at fanart like I did with Billdip. I do wish young me archived my favorite art pieces though.

Same. I hate that people are less inclined to ship crack and "taboo" nowadays. I have a feeling billdip wouldn't have kicked off like it did back then if Gravity Falls released nowadays.

I never interacted with the fandom but damn, Dipper as a cervitaur was just the cutest thing ever. The monster AU in general had a lot of great designs.

Season 1 easily, I really don't like Stanford and I actually think Gideon doesn't get enough praise for being a good foil to the twins.

Maybe? I wouldn't be opposed per say, but I'd rather a spin-off than a continuation.

Billdip. Again kinda hate Ford and the Sock Opera episode sold me on the pairing.

I feel like season 1 was more laid back and we got to see more of the characters. Since Alex for some reason decided to cram season 2 and 3 into one i think the ending was a little rushed in season 2. We got Ford back, but he was barely in the episodes. I think that also contributed to people hating him back then (and now, with the rewatchs i see a lot of people still hating Ford lol)

Nope. I don't think a third season now would hit the same as the last two. Something would be missing, like every cartoon revival ends fucking something up. We COULD get some Stan and Ford boat adventures tho…like Fionna and Cake got a more adult-leaning show last year

Stancest has a very special place in my heart! But i also enjoy Billbip because i feel like Bill and Dipper have a loooooot of chemistry, it's insane.
