Ikemen also is very same-faced and while I can still enjoy one-off characters from a bishie series I think that bara works have a bit more body variety which is another plus in my book.

Course, the physical appearance of a character is null once you actually watch/read/play it. A guy doesn't have to look hot to be attractive if that makes any sense, likewise a guys cuteness doesn't matter if his personality is total shit.

That's really what makes it or breaks it for me. Usually the faces seem a bit repetitive, and not the kind I would like see more than once. Once in a while, the archetype does hit a sweet spot, like picrel. He is from Futari Solo Camp, which seems to be more of a waifufag manga, so no luck there lol.

Gap moe is the main reason I like muscular dudes, so is not so much that the face needs to be cute(I've liked outright ugly designs before), it's just that at a glance it looks like it won't do it for me, but it's cool that you can enjoy it.

This is why I like when most characters in a series are average, ugly or unique looking, because it makes an ikemen who would be standard in a generic cast of hot stand out. Dragon Goes Househunting is a good example of that. It's also why I like ikemen/bara, ikemen/oyaji, ikemen/shota, or just ikemen/average. The hot character is upgraded by the contrast.
