wondering if there are other nonnas that have interest in game development?

share your ideas and concepts, and ask any questions about game dev here!

 No.604

Me but i don't know jack shit about programming. I really do need to make the time to practice coding.

This thread is totally dead and I thought about asking in the BL games thread but
How much would (You) care if a r-18 BL game didn't have penetrative sex for each character?

 No.728

>>727
honestly it wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me, honestly unresolved sexual tension is a kink of mine and in a way it would add to the tension between the characters, i'm the type that always likes side characters/couples in bl anyway

>Penetrative sex
Is this implying that some characters would have still have sex, but not penetrative? Cause I wouldn't mind. I'm kinda tired of just anal and occasional oral sex in bl.

 No.730

>>727
I don't personally think the style of sex, or even lack of, matters as long as the characters are emotionally intimate.

 No.731

>>729
The plan was for there to be an option to choose top/bottom for each character because I want to give people more options, and seme protagonist (who is also shorter/younger) is rare, so I'm partially catering to my own taste as well.
But with non-penetrative stuff, choosing top/bottom would be more about who's in the more submissive role in the scene.

I delve in gamedev myself and I'm putting out a visual novel on June 18th with the premise of "what if something like Conan the Barbarian but gay??"

Anyway, we need more barbarians banging elves, evil sorcerers and so on.

It was really fun, but I think every game is more fun when you play in a group. An expansion would be good. Especially plantboy (best boy) dlc. In any case, we need more female gaze degeneracy in this world instead of hand-wringing trash.

Didn’t expect to find a game dev thread here, however dead it may be. Any of you looking for a composer? I spent the last 4 years studying classical composition and the last 2 years coping with the realization that the industry is an absolute meme and functionally obsolete outside of academia. Been wanting to get into game scoring instead. If anyone wants to collaborate lmk and I’ll drop my imageboard burner email.

Ah that would be really cool Anona, that concept but fully gay would be so cool

I've been making a point-and-click/visual novel set in an abandoned rural place/forest with male characters the mc can encounter and become emotionally intimate with. It's my first ever game project so I'm sure it's shit but I don't really know who to share it with and where…

itch.io does yaoi game jams every year so maybe you can release your game as a part of that project.

I recently participated in a horror game jam with a group of friends and it made me realise I actually kind of enjoy gamedev. Even though I only contributed by illustrating backgrounds and coming up with a few story beats, it was a fun experience and it showed me you don't actually need to have much experience in gamedev to make a game (as none of my friends had any experience with gamedev but we still made a playable game).
I'm now itching to make a BL game. Maybe a visual novel since (I assume) there's less coding to be done with that medium, but RPGmaker is always an option too. I've been throwing BL concept ideas back and forth with a fujo friend for a while now and never dared to make a manga or comic based off of them because it seemed like such a huge undertaking. But after the game jam, I think a BL-focused game would be a much less daunting way to bring our ideas to life.
One of the most recent ideas my friend and I were discussing was a timetraveller who travels to the past or future and ends up falling for the past/future version of himself. Or he could be a dimension-hopper who falls for an alternate dimension version of himself. I think maybe that would be an interesting concept to explore in a VN or RPG.
I need to do more research on VN engines before I decide, but I'm feeling really pumped :)

I really want to make a collectathon type game where you go around collecting cat boys. I guess kind of like neko atsume. I have a lot of ideas for cute designs and game mechanics, for example the cat boys becoming bonded pairs based on their personalities. I feel like it would be a huge undertaking though.

I have a game in mind i been working on. I have the gameplay part but i still cant get a good idea for the story. I only know i want it to be gay/ BL.
Doing the gameplay part with no idea on what the story is going to be is still fun to do on my free time

You could start off with one or two characters and then add on as you update the game, or have seasonal characters, like Neko Atsume. It sounds super cute!

Exploration and collecting clues/finding interactions with specific characters to finish a quest. Nothing to complex, it is pretty similar to Ace attorney but gay and you get different endings based on what you decide. You can move around a map where you can interact with objects. Originally, I wanted to make a more traditional visual novel, but I ended up focusing on making it more dynamic, so much so that I haven't even thought about the story and only have the concept for the protagonist, a simple-looking uke.

I dont know if ill ever finish it but is a fun hobby to keep me busy.

Working with an all fujo dev team has always been my dream. I've had a few projects in the past I've tried to work on solo, but given the scope of just how much goes into a game, it always fizzled out.
I'll put a ton of work into writing a game, developing the characters to all have depth and be interesting, planning dialogue trees and routes, making sure plot doesn't fall to the wayside in favour of romance and vice versa, and will even spend weeks reading and researching involved topics to help the themes and settings feel more authentic.
But then after that, I need to teach myself other skills that don't come so naturally such as art, game design, programming, and music. I even went so far as to try and study architecture for a pixel rpg so the towns looked good. And it burns me out having to tackle every single aspect of the game all by myself instead of being able to just focus on a single role in the development.

I would absolutely love to join your girl's team, but my irl life is too busy at the moment to give me any time to make a noticeable impact. I still wish you the best regardless. If you make this work, you're living my dream.

 No.1379

More or less. Most of the EN VNs I've heard of or read are by trans women. I think it comes down to they are most often able to be unemployed long enough to solo dev a finished project and are pretty good about word-of-mouthing each other into broader spaces.

 No.1380

>>1378

You just need to be male, mentally ill and write about being mentally ill, that's it.
No offense to any of the nonnas here but most fujos can't code. Trannies often have the biggest autism when it comes to coding and while you can ideaguy all you want, nothing will get done if there isn't a proper coder. There are builders like Tyranno that are drag and drop or some renpy scripts that result in an extremely short basic vn, but if you want to do anything truly substantial it needs far too much effort beyond simply liking the 'idea' of making something.

 No.1381

>>1380
For just a simple vn on Ren'py, of any length, you don't need any external scripts. It was more than easy enough for me to make shit in there and I'm terrible at coding. Even some non-vn genres are easy enough in there. Things only get more advanced if you want to do fancy visual effects or minigames.
>>1379
I'm genuinely curious which VNs are being referred to because of the EVNs that have gotten big enough for me to hear about them are by teams, like Dream Daddy (but it was planned by the Game Grumps iirc?) or Date Everything. Meanwhile sorting for most popular VNs on itch io will give you standard male author porn games, or yandere boyfriend games that have a 50/50 of being made by a FTM or a woman.

 No.1382

>>1380
>No offense to any of the nonnas here but most fujos can't code
The universal truth is that fujos will always lag behind other types of pervert in tech spaces. We would be too powerful if we controlled the art, the fic, AND the vidya.
>>1381
Digital/Analogue, Heaven Will Be Mine, Misericorde and Coquette Dragoon are the ones coming to mind. In general I find most "noteworthy" EN VNs to be irony poisoned and not particularly interesting.

For EN BLVNs I have only ever liked >>742 and strongly agree with >>788. I think the secret sauce to a VN is to just openly be horny for what you are writing and the EN LGBT devs tend to at least have that going for them.

 No.1385

>>1381
>Meanwhile sorting for most popular VNs on itch io will give you standard male author porn games
I could be talking out my ass because I didn't bother verifying it, but I can see an increase of these with the rise of people vibe coding. Men are less anti-AI than women, especially fujos, so they would ask chatgptgeminigrok to make a VN for them.

Why is this? I've noticed this across all western BL media. Can we not just be genuine anymore?

 No.1388

I think that despite anime and japanese games having become mainstream by now there's still a lot of westerners stuck in the mindset that they have to be ironic about liking japanese things because deep down they still think that people who like anime are degenerates and they don't want to be associated with that.

 No.1390

>>1385
>I could be talking out my ass because I didn't bother verifying it, but I can see an increase of these with the rise of people vibe coding
This is definitely happening, but even before current AI most game platforms were filled with low effort porn games, most using stock realistic 3D models. I would guess that it's now easier to make anime style 2D hentai games specifically due to the ease of generating art. The stuff that was on the top rated page on itch specifically looked at least hand drawn, probably there since before porn game monetization was removed. There's also still more yandere stuff on that page than hentai though kek.
>>1386
Part of it is westerners making baby's first VN feel like they need to be clever and subvert tropes when they may have never even read a VN before themselves, and then add on people specifically feeling like they need to subvert 'toxic BL' tropes.
But there is definitely more genuine stuff that's just like a standard BLVN than it seems, it's just that the meme games are the only ones that blow up into mainstream.
