Love me some Delta or Inverse, though obviously HelShin is canon end game. Fandom Northdin has grown on me immensely thanks to comics of him being terminally tsundere, so I hope he makes an appearance in S2 (Kantarou too, surely, since he was already cast in S1). Bit disappointed that it got pushed back from October to next year, but the promo poster error and further Akaja are making up for it. Truly unforgivable is whatever caused the John and Shan plushies to be delayed. ;__;

Anyway, what's your opinion on lewding bats, and which Shinji pairing do you prefer? I'd go poly but Kantarou is far too Kantarou, he'd probably scare the goat too much. There are too many ships.

Got into it quite recently, I'm still reading it at a snail pace since I'm using it to learn japanesse. So can't reallt answer that.
Anyways, when it comes to aus, I really like 30 years later, mainly cause I'm a sucker for ojiisans, wich is why I want to get into HelShin as soon as possible.

Ha. Sorry I got too excited seeing a Kyuushi thread here and tried bringing up fifty things at once! Shinji is a dhampir mangaka who works for Autumn Publishing, he's often shipped with either his editor, Kuwabara, or his assistant, Nagiri. The trouble with that is that despite Nagiri's attraction to John he's usually shipped with the police officer he attacked in S1 - and said police officer often grabs him by the hand. So shipping him with Shinji breaks up that potential pairing.

I'm really banking on them bringing Helsing into S2, because they already sell so much merch of his current predicament, and any brief reference to him gets fans screaming. I want to see anime fans react to one particular ahegao joke. The choice of chapters last time was really hard to predict though. People I spoke to who had read the Japanese chapters really thought Draluc's mother would be the finale for S1 so they could sell shota Draluc to the anime onlys.

30 years later AU is all kinds of delicious, not just for the accidentally canon implications of Ronadora's relationship, or that long ponytail for John to chew on, but because there's so much angst people can squeeze out of it. People just naturally jump to "so there's a 50 years later too right?" and so on.

I think you'll enjoy S2 if more of the Old Bloods get introduced. So far you've only had Draus and Ydan, but there's also Manner's grandfather Elder, Strange Animal's father Dick, Draluc's tutor Northdin, a hopeless birdman called Ventru who gets imprisoned and turned into a housewife by a tomboy sock fetishist… seriously there are so much cast the anime has barely touched. The manga is over 300 chapters in now and is still throwing new shipping fuel at people. The akaja I mentioned are twitter events the author hosts, where the characters answer questions or just shittalk for a day. They're always full of stupid shit that could inspire fanart and ships. For some reason the White Day event lasted an entire month. I have not read all of it. It was just too much for mortals even with the google translate button. Anyway if you see fanart or AUs you can't explain, it's probably because of akaja or some random official art. Right now we have mummy Draluc and werewolf Rona because of Halloween merch, and everyone has forgotten that Delta Satetsu (the Hosoya voiced hunter with the metal arm) was already a werewolf.

I could ramble for hours about every ship that exists and why. I'll just leave you with a trivia note that'll explain some fanart: there is a vampire that makes a star fall when someone has a horny thought. So people use shooting stars in the background to suggest someone thought of something indecent.

I got into it because a bunch of artist I follow would make and share fanart of the characters so I tought "why not" and started reading it.
I'm honestly surprised at the amount of content this series has, I know that comedy manga has this kind of ship potential (kkow comes to mind). However, the amount of content completely exceeded my expectations.
This series is sort pushing to learn japanese, I got to learning some during quarentine, but having an unstranslated shonen I'm actually interested in is pretty good motivation.

As you've said, 30 years later has a ton of potential, like what happens when Ronald gets really old? would he get Draluc to turn him into a vampire? tons of escenarios you could do.

And yeah, the old dudes so far are really fucking cute.

Oh damn I assumed you'd be from the anime crowd. If you're relying on the English translations then the anime did jump about to chapters they hadn't done when it came out. I'm still mostly mooching off people who are more fluent, and there's even some Japanese fans who are trying to translate and explain stuff for English speakers (though the English speaking fans are rarely natives, it's just easier for communication between Europe and Asia). It's a nightmare even for more experienced translators at times, and the anime subs highlighted a lot of grammatical mistakes in the early scanlations. Gag manga are unfortunately tricky like that because of the density of text and wordplays but at least there's tons you can absorb by staring at pictures.

There's some conspiracy theories amongst the fans about why there's so many shippable old men in the series. The author has a Pixiv account where he used to have a bunch of Saint Young Men porn fics bookmarked, they've been privated since, but enough people saw it that it can't have been a feverdream. Guy also tweets about buying doujinshi suspiciously close to when certain gay doujin events were on, did an official collab with a BL manga about a vampire working in a bathhouse, and there's just too many crumbs lying around in the innuendo and jokes that aren't just playing it for laughs. Even stupid shit like Ronaldo says his favorite smell is mosquito repellent incense (ok sure he has fond memories of summers with his siblings, seems normal), then at a later date the author tweets out of nowhere that Draluc's natural scent is "kind of like mosquito repellent". Excuse you? How else should we take this information?

"Asking a vampire the location of their coffin is akin to a proposal, being told or shown the location of a coffin is similar", states the author. A vampire did ask Ronaldo if he knows where Draluc's coffin is, and he doesn't even think before telling them yes like it's obvious. Draluc sure showed him his coffin when he moved in as well. Kinda gay, fellas.

There is a chance the author himself is into it and uses the comedy aspect to sneak suggestions in. It's the perfect harmless way to give the series a second reading as incredibly homo if not disastrously bi. It's fitting for vampires, honestly.

On I side note, that's part of the reason I prefer it when Ronald is on the reciving end. Draluc is too scrawny, makes me feel bad for him. I know body shape prbably doesn't have much to do with tightness, but it looks painful anyways.

Well the posts got eaten but I remember saying I'd read the manga after the anime. I was excited to see that there were 25 volumes but then immediately crushed when I saw that the scanlations were only up through chapter 60-something. I've never been really into something where I had to depend on scanlations so now I feel mildly impatient/anxious about it. I read it all over Friday/Saturday and I loved it. Great show/comic, really hope it gets picked up for a third season and official translation.

I also like it this way. Ronald is made for teasing and Draluc would literally be pounded to dust (although I guess the act of fucking would also dust him, but let us pretend).

I almost forgot to post but the author updated on his health situation at last. He's been suffering severe back pain from some kind of vertebrae fusing condition that doesn't let him move/position his back normally. He's trying to get surgery to correct it, but it's been a long and difficult process given how delicate the procedure is. This explains why Needy Girl Overdose has also had delays, because it's unlikely he can think straight with that shit going on.

In Kyuushi news: the drama CD is out now, and stage DVD/BD is out next month. Anthology updated last month.

Possibly the worst possible news since Bonnoki's hiatus. The manga has been "licensed" by that new AI website, and it's unlikely any legit English translators will ever get a look at it (supposedly this also affects some European language markets too). They've basically killed the series internationally. I hate that they probably chose it thinking nobody would give a shit so they could get away with it as catalog fodder.

This shouldn't affect European releases. The US also released Ousama Ranking digitally only (with some awful MTL translation), effectively killing the chance for physical volume releases in the US but every Euro country got them regardless, with proper translation even.
That aside, that website isn't even accessible outside of the US.

The bigger issue is making them notice it in the first place. Usually my country starts selling the manga of every new anime a few months before the adaption starts, but they didn't do it here. Maybe it was too niche or they overlooked it, I have no idea.

Orange has stated they want to expand into other languages, and I remember their early promos mention Spanish and French, but maybe they just mean to target US residents still and not hold the license from other countries. My country only gets imported US manga, we have no local publishers, so I'm just straight fucked on this.

I think most publishers have been put off by its nature as a gag series. It's both tricky to translate jokes and to market the humor. There's a ton of volumes out and hiatus aside it has no ending in sight, so if it doesn't sell well what do they even do with it? I'm starting to see why Seven Seas didn't take my surveys seriously every month.
