There’s a decent amount of fics for them on AO3, but the fandom seems pretty dead right about now. Not that it was ever overly active anyway, lol; the fujo set gets so little in the Soul Calibur domain in my experience.

Sorry nonna, Tekken and Blazeblue are my fighting game fandom playgrounds of choice.

Only played Soul Caliber a few times, but I know it was recently added to Nintendo's virtual console, maybe you'll get some fresh blood for your ship.

OP here; both are extremely respectable playgrounds, as well! I feel like a lot of us in the fujo set have to be strong if we’re in most fighting game fandoms.

I’m hopeful that more people will come to see the beauty of this ship in time, especially if, as you say, they get acquainted with SC. I thank you for the well wishes.

Both those guys really are gorgeous; you’d think the series would be more popular fandomwise even from their presence alone, but I guess the infrequent game releases take their toll.

The amount of people who actually engage with the lore of fighting games is pretty small imo, I think fujos who would be into the ship only know Voldo as a bsdm contortionist old man and therefore can't muster enthusiasm for any ship involving him.

I like Voldo because he has that gentleman side alongside being loyal.
Astaroth and Nightmare are really cute too. I'm pissed that there's little to no art of them together.

OP here; honestly, I get that. Before I really dug into Voldo and Vercci’s lore myself, Voldo himself didn’t interest me on sight. Nor did the typical bishies of the games at first glance either, admittedly, but interest came with actually looking into the characters. Yet that also took willingness and other, adjacent interests to fuel it.

Most fighting game fandoms are pretty malecentric/heteronormative anyway, considering that Street Fighter basically has officially licensed swimsuit fanservice yearly through Udon, as an example. SC’s a pretty limited fandom itself within that circle too, so that further isolates the ship.

Seconding your thoughts on Voldo - that deep bowing in one of his endings (SC 4, I think?) really sells his gentlemanly side.

Due to Luke and Jamie, SF has had a pretty big resurgence of female fans, especially fujo ones. Ed being redesigned into a (relatively skinny) pretty boy helped keep interest, too. RyuKen has always had a pretty niche, but strong, following (never as big as Kyo/Iori though).

My selfish desire is for Remy to be added in season 4 and having fujobait with Alex.
