Sorry nonna, some day I'll watch this show. It's one that I've seen many a doujin of, but never the source material.

Who do you ship Edward with? Is there an agreed upon most popular pairing?

Ed is my favorite and I've always been very… uh, bicycle focused with him haha. If you can make it work (and it's yaoi), good with me. That said, historically most popular pairings are EdRoy (Ed and his commanding officer) and Elricest (Ed and his brother Al.) My personal favorites depend on canon, probably EdAlfons and EdLing. EdRoy and Elricest are so popular though that even when they're not canon, they're canon to me, if that makes sense? Like it's just background to me now that Ed crushes on Roy and would fuck his brother if asked…

Both are good, I prefer the vibe in FMA and the action in FMAB.

I'd have enjoyed a bit of a slower pacing in FMAB, especially for the beginning of the show, I think some things could've had a stronger emotional impact that way. It was fine though. Also more Greedling ofc.

Downloading FMA doujin collections from aarinfantasy, putting it all on an external drive along with all my other downloaded doujins, without backup (no place was safe, my 14 year old self was reasonably paranoid) and then utter despair when my external drive just broke, all my doujins and DRAMA CDs etc. just gone aaaaah

As an /ex/ frequenter, I liked seeing Ed without the automail… That FMA episode where he was tied to that chair with his automail taken away was great fanservice to my 14 year old self, I rewatched it several times

I watched both series for the first time recently. 2003 is definitely more to my taste, but Brotherhood is good too. I don’t really have many strong opinions on any ships yet. Most stuff I see is of Ed/Roy, and while I like a lot of the fan art, the ship itself doesn’t interest me that much.

If I had to choose a favorite ship I’d go with elricest. Codependent relationships like theirs make for good angst. There’s also the whole taboo of them committing human transmutation which I think theme-wise connects well to the taboo of them potentially being in a relationship if that makes sense.

I’m pretty new to the fandom so if anyone has any good fic recs please link them.
