Who's your favorite sword?
Favorite pairing?
Favorite fanartist/doujinka?

For me, it's hard to pick a single favorite, but I'll go with Sengo for giving me a lot of laughs.
As for pairings, I like Sengo x Tonbokiri, and Ishikirimaru x Nikkari.
Unfortunately a lot of the artists I liked back in the day have moved on.

I have to say, the English sword wiki is one of the more well-organized fan wikis I've seen. Usually I avoid those because they're trainwrecks but this ones decent.

ohh there's a touken ranbu thread, i'm so happy! i started playing recently so i still don't know much but…
>Who's your favorite sword?
so far i really like kogitsunamaru and kikkou! but the gou family also has some really handsome swords. i'd really love to get kuwana and murakumo someday!
>Favorite pairing?
i still need to look more into the characters interactions/lines, but i like kogitsunemaru x mikazuki, shokudaikiri x hasebe and some incest ships
>Favorite fanartist/doujinka?
i don't follow enough fanartists yet to have a favorite, but official artists i like are tsuda honami and nitaka.

Ah, my favorite action rpg powerpoint presentation

DYK TKRB has a million media, and the stageplay made me cry three times on my three rewatches? I think the links i used to watch are dead now though, fuck, i'll see if i have any downloaded

>>>>330

>Favorite sword
Mr. Posterboy Munechika and his sexy dog boyfriend + Nannkaitarou Chouson

>Favorite pairing?

See above. I just love that thing Kogimika has going on for them where it just feels like an elaborate dance, I don't know how to explain. I just think they're neat

>Favorite fanartist?

ka畜 on pixiv. they don't do TKRB anymore but the stuff they have is- unique, I can say, and very well made enough to stay in my head rent free for months

Mmmmm that 2nd art. Touken Ranbu has this thing where its fanartists occasionally make some real cool shit that actually makes me speechless instead of just a decorated action pose. I know that this is probably also a thing for other fandoms but, still

What's your opinion on the new anime?

 No.2692

>>2691
Frankly I think they just gave up. Like someone showed them a price tag for an anime adaptation and they freaked and wound it all down to the minimum.

Honestly, budget aside the anime has been delivering for me in the angst department and the inter-sword dynamics during the SoL sections. Souza has been such a pretty depressed maiden of a sword and then there's Fudou's whole arc. Also I like that during the Honnoji temple invasion they leaned into horror elements with the history retrograde army.

Did I miss my chance to get into this game? Is there a good (English) way to play it?

That was the only English server, and they're unlikely to try again given how much of a disaster it was. It had some strange censorship and liberties taken with the translation, to the point that Japanese users made blogs documenting how outlandish some choices were. Events were just mirrors of the Japanese server, so earlier swords and events just never happened and you'd randomly get untranslated lines in the middle of event cutscenes. I liked the graphical glitches where things would appear slightly off mark, like your swordboy had an empty gap between his sprite and the bottom of the screen, or text would rebel from its box.

The licensor lost their Chinese servers at the same time and the company in charge of Tourabu changed administrative hands. Hard to tell if it was the mess or just reorganization to blame, but since it took SO many years for an English server to launch and then it closed without an in-game EOS announcement or any explanation, we don't think they ever intend to sell it to the west. Hell, crunchy hasn't even picked up the Hanamaru movies and the last anime was left to rot for four weeks before they uploaded subs without saying anything. Play in Japanese and download fansubs or have no swords at all.

Damn, I used to play the game and then quit long before the EN version was announced so I never knew it was mishandled like this. I guess I'm not surprised on some level cause I imagine this entire concept is too niche in the west.

>Play in Japanese and download fansubs or have no swords at all.

Hmmm, never had to try to add fansubs to a game before. Guess there's a first time for everything if I can find them. Wading through all these subbing communities for the stage plays reminds me of fandom communities I used to pursue years ago.

 No.3165

>>3161
Ah sorry, I meant subs for stage plays and the movies, that kind of content. There's a fanwiki for the game which has translations of most screens and dialogue lines (with audio files), and since the dialogue is voiced you can listen to it while playing to figure out which line is what.

And yeah, the fansubs for the stage productions are still mostly passed around via blogs and LJ/dreamwidth, outside of the fanwiki's discord server. I haven't really interacted with the latter but if you have an account you can join it, make a bland hello and help yourself to things. Personal use is all good so they won't chase you if you lurk. Can be helpful for new event gameplay instructions too because other people will have asked about them and tested things.

>>3160
And yet they performed in France and filmed a documentary about Western TouRabu fans to air on Japanese television.

 No.3166

>>3165
Haha I'd just assumed I was retarded yesterday and was too embarrassed to ask to be spoonfed where to look for it.

The fanwiki for this game seems very thorough and the fact that they've even got the audio clips for ease of following along is awesome so I can deal with the text being in Japanese.

Thanks for the clarification nonna!
