>>199With the drought of fujobait series compared to the old days, I fear we are in a fujobait dark age. Fujos are resilient so we will always continue shipping our boys through grit and sheer autistic willpower, but I swear the mid 2000s to mid 2010s were the halcyon age of being a fujo. Isekaishit and other male gaze derivative drivel hadn't monopolized the mainstream yet, and fujos had a cournocopia of shonen with cute, shippable boys to play with (eg YYH, Naruto, Bleach Yugioh, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Prince of Tennis, etc). Moreover fujo-friendly shounenshit had cultural staying power which meant invested fans. Maybe it was a consequence of being expected to slog through over 9000 episodes back in the day, and maybe the fandom turnover cycle has accelerated since a decade ago, but newer series like KnY, JJK and Chainsaw Man feel like they have a shorter shelf life. JJK's end is looming on the horizon, but I will be sad to see it fade away since it's one of the series that's most consistently delivered.
>>2234No, when the anime first aired it was roasted to hell and back for having a by-the-numbers shonen plot (basically magic Naruto/One Piece) and an MC with an obnoxious voice. Even though the MC and his childhood friend were basically copy&paste SNS, I could never find much fic or art or doujin. The lack of fan enthusiasm coupled with the fact the female characters were half decent (by battle shonen standards) meant the fujobait well was dry from the start.
